Note that this is the restaurant attached to a Holiday Inn. The menu is basically equivalent to a Chili's, but with worse execution. IDK how this place was scoring a bunch of 5 stars earlier this year, but it's the kind of place that microwaves their appetizers and confuses Pinot Griot (sic) with Pinot Noir.
Honestly it’s not worth it; the food was okay, service was okay too.
Terrible meal. We ordered salads and were still in the middle of eating them when they brought out our main courses, which just sat there for a few minutes as we finished our first course. My medium rare steak came cooked well done. It took a while for the server to come back outside to get it sent back, and when it came, the new steak they brought out was unseasoned. None of the food was good and was particularly disappointing given the high price point.
They are in the midst of a menu change and there were several items on the menu that are not available. The problem was, it was almost half the menu. So we tipped the waitress, who was very nice for the appetizer we quickly consumed and went elsewhere.
Would have given them an excellent for food but they were out of 3 appetizers and 1 entree.
We found fairly positive reviews before making reservations and the appetizers were decent….from there is went down hill…all orders were incorrect, cold … the worst meal I’ve ever had in a restaurant. The server tried but nothing could rescue this disaster. I do not recommend this place
The vibe is super weird. You are in a hotel restaurant so people are there from the hotel mostly. The food was great but the service was not the best. I would order takeout but not a good place for a date at all.
The restaurant was fairly dead when we went, but the atmosphere is nice. The food was very non-impressive---something you could get anywhere. Very average. But the waitress was quite good---very willing to please.
We went on a Saturday night, but early in the evening, reservation was at 5:45, hardly anyone was in the restaurant. Like most restaurants these days, they were short staffed. We had to ask for our check 3x, we told them we had a concert to go to and had to leave. I think it took a half hour until we finally got the check. The server didn't charge us right. She didn't charge my friend for her drink, she put my friend's ice cream on another friend's bill, she charged the other friend for a full salad but she had only ordered a half salad. Luckily we had cash with us. We didn't wait for change. The server got much more of a tip from us than she should have but we had to leave to get to the concert. And the manager wasn't all that helpful either, words but not a lot of action. It was my first time there and will likely be my last time there. So many other restaurants I can go to.
Did not realize it was the restaurant for the Holiday Inn downtown and therefore my expectations for a nice dinner out had to be tempered. The food was decent but not outstanding. The waitress was actually chewing on a bite of food when she delivered our plates which we both found a little odd.
Very nice looking restaurant. Server was very friendly. Not many diners. Very slow service. Meals did not arrive at same time for the 2 of us. Seems like they are still learning their way but have been around for a while. Meals were excellent in presentation and taste. Pretty much an unusual experience.
Obviously trying to get this new restaurant off the ground. The food was excellent, the service good and attentive. The music was just a bit loud and could’ve been a better selection. We will return.
We made a 5:45 reservation for 4 and were the only people there. This is a really nice restaurant but it was a ghost town in downtown. A few other couples came in while we were there. I feel horrible for restaurants post pandemic. If people would get vaccinated, this could be over. Food was good, service was good. A really beautiful restaurant. Get back out there people. Cinnati businesses need you!
We went there for Mother’s Day brunch expecting to order off the brunch menu. We were offered a buffet of heated up pre-packaged restaurant supply food.... very far from a fresh omelet or French toast. None of the dishes were appealing or tasted great. Overall, very average to less than average. However, The waitstaff was lovely and attentive.
We had Mother's Day Brunch and it was exactly what the post-COVID doctor ordered! (we are all vaccinated so for us, it felt like post-COVID) We had the honor of meeting the chef, Willie, who is amazing. He cooks everything to perfection. I was actually there the week before and made reservations to come back because of him. He was kind enough to come out and say hi. I know they were short-staffed on Mother's Day but our food was delicious, served hot and as we ordered. Thank you WIllie!
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner on a somewhat early Saturday afternoon. Our server was the nicest person and very helpful. Hope to return another time!
Make sure when you make a reservation that you call and make sure this establishment is open. Mother’s Day was ruined and the rude employee could have cared less. The least someone could have done was offered us a cocktail instead of yelling across the restaurant, “We are closed, not sure how you think you have reservation.” Well needless to say we won’t be going back. Mistakes happen but at least act like you care!
Had an incredible time!! Will be back!
My date and I came here for a weekend date night, and ordered a few different things. First of all, I was impressed with the overall ambiance of the interior dining, high back booths, nice fixtures, etc. I was disappointed when we sat outside and the tables on the patio were smaller, and the one we were at was uneven. That said, the food made up for it. While the burger didn't look great, the flavor was on point (though there was too much aioli), and the brussels had an appropriate crisp with tart, acidic, vinegar. My date enjoyed her mussels, and the rich broth they came in. But my personal highlight was the apple goat cheese salad - it was a little smaller than I wanted but the flavor was huge. Sweet, crisp apples and creamy goat cheese with the absolute best champagne vinaigrette I've ever had. When I asked for the rest of my dressing I had gotten on the side to be packed in a to-go ramekin the sous chef came out to talk. I thought it was a cool touch to show appreciation for the satisfaction they're giving customers. We had a to-go dessert order that came out right as we were ready to leave, and that chocolate cake was also bomb.
Excited to go back and definitely recommend Spoon and Cellar for dinner!
Glasses were dirty, still had lipstick on them. Food quality was cheap and tasteless. The best thing about this place was the cocktails.
We had a fabulous dinner at Spoon & Cellar! One of the best steaks I’ve ever had. All of our food was delicious and service was great!
Bourbon marinates salmon was perfectly prepared. The wife had the marsala. The chicken was extremely tender and sauce was on point. The roasted brussel sprouts were also delicious. Top shelf dining all the way!!
We ordered the salmon well done along with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. The food was absolutely delicious. Our server was very cordial and checked on us as needed. For dessert we ordered the chocolate cake which was very rich but overwhelmingly satisfying. Spoon and Cellar is a very good restaurant with a fine dining menu from which to choose. We will return at a future date for certain.
The cocktails were great as was the food. The Shrimp Scampi was one of the best my husband has had.
The restaurant was not very busy but food took over an hour to get. When our server brought out our meals he told us that the asaparagus wasn't ready yet and they were completely out of mashed potatoes for the night so they put the steak on some white rice without even asking if we wanted something else. The rice was mushy almost like a bowl of grits and the steak was cooked well but had almost no flavor at all. Like it was marinated in water or something. The blackened chicken alfredo was delicious so if we only would have gotten that it wouldn't have been bad. The asparagus came out about 10 minutes later and was soggy and chewy also. The server DID take the steak off of our bill but we will not be going back for another visit.
Salmon was good, rice was mushy, broccoli was hard. Service was just ok.
I have ben wanting to dine here since it opened..... It has a nice ambiance - we sat in the bar area at a high-top table. Our server was the bartender, he was very helpful. We had several of the appetizers, all very tasty. The wings were tender and full of chicken - we were allowed to split the seasonings 1/2 and 1/2! My favorite app was the bacon stuffed jalapeños, which they are taking off the menu...lucky us to get them on their last night!
Great place and great atmosphere. Servers are always friendly, and the food is very good.
Lovely brunch! The biscuits and gravy and southern chicken and biscuits were both amazing! Will definitely be back.
We went the night before Easter and didn’t know if it would be packed or quiet. Turned out to be a quiet night. The food and service were great. The atmosphere is wonderful. Thank you for a great evening! Chandler took amazing care of us.
Our server was so amazing!
She was attentive and fun.
The bartender is totally top notch. Very friendly and fun.
The waiter was a really cool guy. He made a good recommendation for a starter. Service was fast. Food was excellent.
We had a wonderful evening in Cincinnati. The food was great and our waiter professional and very committed to answer our many questions. The ambience was tranquil, allowing us to fully take this evening in.
We would recommend this restaurant to our friends and family.
Our waiter James was great. We had wine and cocktails. Both delicious. Had the bacon-wrapped jalapenos appetizer. So good! Each got the steak fries for dinner. Amazing! James recommended the cheesecake for dessert and it didn't disappoint. Discovered this place via Cincysavers. We will definitely be back.
First indoor “date night” with my wife in almost 8 months. Ambiance was cozy. Menu was a good variety of appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches and full meals. We cobbled together a meal using a few appetizers, soup, salad and desert. All were outstanding. Good bar with delicious cocktails. Best part was the attentive, friendly service from our server, December. Gave us excellent recommendations, checked in often, but not in an intrusive or pushy way. I expect we’ll be back semi-regularly.
I don't know what they've changed but the food quality this time wasn't as good
Great Alfredo, different take on spinach and artichoke dip, (not the best) but overall very enjoyable.
We had an excellent dinner with fantastic service where our waitress was able to recommend entrees to meet our needs.
The food was quite good! I'd highly recommend the spinach and artichoke dip! Great service too!
It had nice interior design. It has the potential to be a very nice restaurant but they don’t execute most things well. The food was pretty good but not worth the price.
