Pretty good experience. Ordered salmon tasted somewhat fishy. Hummus was okay and artichoke dip was the highlight. Great wine though!

I booked a reservation at Spoon&Cellar, showed up at the correct time, and there was no staff to be seen. There was a booth for a greeter to be, but no one there. No sign to seat ourselves, nothing. We sat down and there were eventually two bartenders that did not ever make eye contact. We waited for 20 minutes and got absolutely nothing, so we left. If there is not staff/means to seat or help the customers you are getting, please take reservations off of OpenTable and put a sign up explaining this. We went elsewhere for dinner.

The restaurant is located a little out of the way from the main hub of activity in downtown Cincinnati. The ambience is typical Holiday Inn coffee shop. The food, however, was very good and the servings were generous. The service was cordial and amicable, but like so many dining establishments these days they seemed under-staffed. We were not rushed through our meal, which was appreciated, and we felt our choosing to dine here was appreciated. We will keep the restaurant in mind for the future.

This restaurant is completely mis advertised. The pictures shown on open table depict a high end restaurant with a wide range of wines, mussels, and delicious food. This simply is not the case. This is a restaurant that is attached to the hotel next door. There's not even a private restroom for the restaurant. I ordered a "housemate veggie burger" and when it came out, it was a morning star patty and the fries were hard and salty. It was like a meal you would get in an airport. My husband ordered a Caesar salad for $7 and was given three pieces of lettuce. The pork chop meal he ordered was served with an ice cream scoop of potatoes like you receive in a school lunch for $25. And the alcohol menu consisted of a few basic, cheap wines and beers, nothing like the picture of the wine wall showed here. I had reserved this place for a birthday dinner and was wildy unsatisfied by the quality and mis-match of expectation of what I saw on here. The service was good and once we complained about the morning star burger we got some money back. But this surely ruined the start of our night. It needs to be stated that this restaurant is a part of a hotel and is not high end like the pictures above so if that's what you're expecting when you make this reservation, you may want to look elsewhere.

No one was at the front door to greet us, I had to go to the bartender to ask to be seated. Waited at least 10 minutes to be greeted at our table by the waitress and another 10 minutes before we received our drinks. My friends really enjoyed the chicken marsala however my steak salad was really gross, the steak was tough and hard to chew. The ambience reminded me of an upscale hospital cafeteria. Probably will not go back again.

Super slow service. My husband got his food before his drink. We were told they were backed up at the bar. There was only like 2 other tables dining at the time. His second drink never came but was on the bill. It took like 45 minutes to get the check and it was wrong.
The water tasted like it was straight from the house and the food was ok, not amazing. We won't be back, too many great options around the block.

Imagine what you’d expect for a restaurant in a Holiday Inn. That’s pretty much it. Meh. Not memorable.
The best part was our server. We ended up sitting in the bar because, although we had a reservation, the host couldn’t be found for over 5 minutes, then when he appeared, he told us we couldn’t be seated timely.
The bartender was friendly, welcoming and got our order right. Clearly, they’re used to serving out-of-towners, as she pointed out the local craft beers.
Like everyone else, they’re understaffed. The kitchen was slow. When our food arrived, mine was over cooked, the meat was of poor quality IMHO.
The decor smacks of chain hotel. Kinda cookie cutter, no warmth. But it was new, clean, well lighted.
I don’t think we’ll return. They always have open reservations on open table. Now I know why. Not our kind of thing.

The staff at Spoon and Cellar was overwhelmed and the service was poor. We ordered the calamari appetizer and it arrived at our table overcooked and chewy. The entrees were basic… no pizazz!! Overall it was a pretty bad experience. I would NOT recommended this restaurant!

I understand that restaurants have taken a major hit when it comes to staffing, however there should not have been as many openings on the open table app for reservations.

We arrived 15 minutes early and they were able to seat us immediately. This was about the only positive about the experience. Our server, Kortney was fantastic, except she was asked to cover way too many tables and since they didn't have a bartender, she had to also make the drinks for all her customers. I ordered the filet and it was tough and over-cooked. I ordered medium rare and it was medium well at best. I asked for horseradish and was told they didn't have any. My wife ordered a salad with steak and her steak was so chewy it was inedible. When the check arrived, the pen was leaking ink and it leaked on my shirt, that is now ruined.
When we left, I attempted to speak with a manager, but there was no one at the reception counter for at least 15 minutes. There was also a couple waiting to be seated who ended up walking out because no one assisted them. I understand there is a labor shortage, but you can adjust the number of customers to be seated in order to correctly cover service them. Do not go to this restaurant!

Horrible experience... used to go there every time we had a broadway show pre covid.. 1st time back and it was probably the worst experience I have had at a restuarant. Took 35 minutes to get our drinks. (had to ask a 2nd time). waited over an hour after that for food and it still wasnt out... At this point we had to leave broadway show, billing was messed up as well... No manager came out to apologize or even do anything... the 2 people we talked acted like they did even care we did not get our food... From my favorite pre broadway show to never going back it crazy... very very sad...

Spoon and Cellar was a nice find just a few blocks from the Aronoff for a pre-theater dinner. We both had French Onion soup and steak salads. The food was delicious, but didn't rate a "5" because some of the steak was a bit "chewy." Still, there was plenty of steak on the salad and the fried onions & bleu cheese finished off a wonderful flavor. The meal was nice, quiet and the service was very friendly and efficient. Definitely worth a visit if having difficulty getting reservations elsewhere in the trendier downtown restaurants.

Note that this is the restaurant attached to a Holiday Inn. The menu is basically equivalent to a Chili's, but with worse execution. IDK how this place was scoring a bunch of 5 stars earlier this year, but it's the kind of place that microwaves their appetizers and confuses Pinot Griot (sic) with Pinot Noir.

Terrible meal. We ordered salads and were still in the middle of eating them when they brought out our main courses, which just sat there for a few minutes as we finished our first course. My medium rare steak came cooked well done. It took a while for the server to come back outside to get it sent back, and when it came, the new steak they brought out was unseasoned. None of the food was good and was particularly disappointing given the high price point.

They are in the midst of a menu change and there were several items on the menu that are not available. The problem was, it was almost half the menu. So we tipped the waitress, who was very nice for the appetizer we quickly consumed and went elsewhere.

The vibe is super weird. You are in a hotel restaurant so people are there from the hotel mostly. The food was great but the service was not the best. I would order takeout but not a good place for a date at all.

We went on a Saturday night, but early in the evening, reservation was at 5:45, hardly anyone was in the restaurant. Like most restaurants these days, they were short staffed. We had to ask for our check 3x, we told them we had a concert to go to and had to leave. I think it took a half hour until we finally got the check. The server didn't charge us right. She didn't charge my friend for her drink, she put my friend's ice cream on another friend's bill, she charged the other friend for a full salad but she had only ordered a half salad. Luckily we had cash with us. We didn't wait for change. The server got much more of a tip from us than she should have but we had to leave to get to the concert. And the manager wasn't all that helpful either, words but not a lot of action. It was my first time there and will likely be my last time there. So many other restaurants I can go to.

Did not realize it was the restaurant for the Holiday Inn downtown and therefore my expectations for a nice dinner out had to be tempered. The food was decent but not outstanding. The waitress was actually chewing on a bite of food when she delivered our plates which we both found a little odd.
