Good food & very accommodating staff.
Second time we have had dinner here, both times only because the location was convenient. Probably won't go back even for that reason. It was during a special event downtown Cincinnati so they offered a VERY limited menu that was not indicated as such on the website. I had something in mind already so this threw me off and I ordered the stupid Caesar salad forgetting that another reviewer recommended against it. If you are a fan of Caesar salad this is not for you. Hunks of lettuce like iceberg with dressing only on the top, not all mixed together and the lettuce was seared so it was warm and wilted. No indication on the menu that this is how it is served . Terrible. A waste of money. It's a great location and the decor is great, service was great, the menu is bland and over priced.
Gary was our server and was amazing!!! We will be coming back.
Went there on a recommendation from a friend and would recommend it to others. Liked the variety on the menu - sandwiches to filet mignon. Nice wine list.
Went here on a whim with friends. I made a rez for 6pm which wasn't needed as we were the only table eating ( granted it was a Tuesday). The decor is very sleek and clean. The food was just good. I would describe it as higher end hotel food. They have a decent variety of selections. I can't speak to the service or noise level since just the four of us were in the dining room. If you're staying at the attached hotel, you'll be happy. Don't know it's worth an out of the way trip.
My parents and I went to Spoon and Cellar before a show at the Arnoff and it was the perfect location and perfect dinner. The food was great and happy hour is from 4-8 which is a great value. Our server James was very knowledgeable and helpful when it came to deciding on what to order. I would definitely come back and would recommend asking for James!
I liked the French Dip I had, but my husband thought the Fetttichi Alfredo was bland.
Great place to dine before a show at the Aronoff. We all liked our selections, and they were happy to substitute a low-carb option for potatoes. Especially recommend the pork chop. Service was outstanding.
It really ranked in the bottom 10% of my lifetime dining experiences.
My whole group felt similar.
I would call it a typical full service hotel cafe.
Convenient for the traveler. But not a dining destination.
Not bad food. Not bad prices. But slow service and underwhelming uniqueness makes this a place I will not return to. Everything is "fine" at best.
Great food and a nice atmosphere. Happy hour drinks and starters. Handy parking. The restaurant was full of people but you could still carry on a conversation and be heard! How refreshing! It is a great place to go with a friend or a group.
Excellent food, great service. Very impressed and pleased with our dining experience.
We had a wonderful dinner with an excellent server named James. The French Onion soup was the best I ever had and grilled Caesar salad with the crispy Parmesan excellent also. Charcuterie board was wonderful. A pleasant surprise and well kept secret and we will be back!
The steak was a bit over cooked, but still a good spot to grab a decent meal
Great surprise in downtown Cincinnati! The spinach dip starter was literally the best we have ever had, highly recommend!
We went for my daughter's birthday. The service was very good. Our food was a bit slow to arrive but our server let us know it was because the steaks my son and daughter ordered had not been cooked properly so the were redoing them.
Once they came out, they cut into the steaks and said they looked good. While they may have been a bit overcooked, my kids said they tasted good.
After our meals and after two free desserts, our server told us that he saw the steaks were not cooked as they would have liked so they comped both of them. We had not said anything about them so it was a very nice thing to do.
My wife and I split a bottle of wine that was on special and it was very good.
Great service, nice ambiance food was good but not outstanding.
Excellent service and a wide menu selection to satisfy everyone at our table. Also, well priced, great value and no hassle to substitute sides and preparation.
Stood at the host stand for 5+ mins before we were noticed by staff. Spinach and Artichoke dip tasted like it had been frozen and was blazing hot on the top and lukewarm on the bottom like it has been microwaved.
Caesar salad was poor; it is literally a half a head of lettuce (which tasted like it had been warmed up????) with caesar dressing put on top like cake icing. This is an issue because if you do not properly take apart the lettuce, it cannot be cleaned, and because of that part of my lettuce was dead yet the kitchen didn't notice. Furthermore the croutons were stale and chewy with no crunch and the cheese wedge was chewy and tasted old. The French dip I had was alright. No big complaints but certainly not worth what I paid.
Besides the food, the hygiene is concerning. Being there later in the day, I witnessed the wait staff preparing the tables for the morning and they were never cleaned. Just swapping silverware and adding coffee cups. The service was attentive besides the host issue, so no major complaint there. Maybe I'm being harsh because I have food service experience myself, but even those I was with were disappointed at best.
I've given this place 2 chances to impress me or at least be alright, yet sadly it's failed me. I won't be returning and I suggest you look at the plethora of other great restaurants this city has to offer.
Good food and service. Good value. We had ribeye and filet and both very tasty but the filet was probably best! The cheese dip with Bavarian pretzels was yummy. Drink specials were good value. Service was friendly. Would return when in area.
We enjoyed the convenient location, excellent service, and delicious food. It is a little off the beaten path from many downtown destinations, and a little quieter...we love that.
Everything was good but nothing was great. Probably won’t go back
Food was great but entrees were served too soon, as we didn’t have a chance to finish our salads. All evening we felt rushed, even though the restaurant was more than half empty. Draft beer selection was great - that is so long as you like IPAs and fruity varieties.
Cool spot. Will definitely go back. Service was excellent and the food was tasty.
The food and service was outstanding, and the portions were more than adequate. The drinks and food were served promptly, and with no delays. Cannot wait to come back!!
We were celebrating dropping our son off to start his freshman year at UC. It was a Monday night, so the restaurant was very quiet. Our server, Ashley, was very knowledgeable about the menu and friendly. We arrived just before the end of happy hour so we enjoyed some wine specials and pretzels with beer cheese which we all devoured and agreed they were fantastic. Our entrees were all excellent and perfectly cooked. It was a very enjoyable meal.
We were celebrating a birthday, and they presented us with a complimentary dessert— bread pudding, which was delicious.
Excellent food and service.
Great meal and service as always
Awesome spot! Great service; food was outstanding and endless drink options! Go see James, he was spot-on with recommendations and timing of the meal! Will go back for sure!
Second visit! Love S&C!
Our waiter was a little rushed and quite visibly sweaty all night long. Not a terribly good look for food service! But he was very pleasant and very capable!
Very deceptive profile. Do not go to this restaurant. The breakfast menu that is shown on Open Table has been reduced in half and the bottomless mimosas are no longer offered. Food is average. Much better choices available in Cincinnati.
Very much enjoyed the evening at Spoon & Cellar. The service was fantastic from the hostess to the servers to the busser who wished us a great evening on our way out. Everyone was attentive with out being over bearing and very fun and helpful. A lot of attention has been given to the ambiance which was light and modern but comfortable and QUIET! I cannot say how much I appreciated the ability to eat in a restaurant that wasn't all hard surfaces and so loud that you can't converse with your table mates. Then the food! Excellently flavored, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Will definitely be back!
Best kept secret in Cincy!! Quiet and great food and service
Decent food at a decent price. Service was ok, but took a while for someone to come to our table at the beginning.
I went to the restaurant for dinner with my daughter. The service was great. We both had the filet. Delicious. Highly recommend.
My wife, daughter and I had an early dinner on Sunday. The restaurant only had a few tables occupied, so it was very quiet and conversation was effortless, something that can seldom be said (or shouted) in many of the restaurants we dine at. The service was great, the food was delicious, and the prices were reasonable. I wish them well going forward and plan to return. The charcuterie board alone is worth a second visit!
Server was attentive polite and made recommendations that we loved. She also took pictures of us four with a smile (we made repeated asks). We loved our meals, and you’ve spoiled me for pork chops. These were amazing, and I’ll never get them anywhere else again.
Great food, service, and atmosphere! James made the perfect recommendations and provided fantastic service. We started with the charcuterie board and spinach dip and both were awesome. For our entrees we had the filet, ribeye, seafood pasta and alfredo. All were amazing but the steaks were the best. Finished with a four way strawberries shortcake that confused our palates but was strangely delicious (smoked strawberry icecream? Yes, please). We will definitely go back!
