For lunch or dinner at Spinnakers Gastro Brewpub you can try one of the shared plates, perfect for a meal with friends and family, like Spinnakers cured meat and cheese plates. Service was painfully slow. We git there at 5 pm for dinner and were there until 8, and nit by choice. Seemed the kitchen was slammed, but you would think they would be prepared as it was a saturday night.
One of the great places to eat in Victoria, unique and full of character. The food at my last visit was delicious. Drinks were Scottish Ale and a Mojito with berries; appetizers Beer and Cheese Pot, and Meatballs; entrees Steak Frites with their Kennebec Fries, and Bangers with pickled cabbage; dessert was Flourless Chocolate Cake, and Housemade English Toffee Ice Cream. The service was attentive, prices reasonable, but reserve ahead.
Met my cousin for lunch, it was busy but the waitress didn't rush us, food was great, atmosphere is warm and familiar (we both used to work in an English Pub). Will return.
Absolutely loved the beet and goat cheese salad.
A favorite restaurant for us
We had a fabulous meal here. Top notch oysters, able to accommodate dietary requests, a really good waitress and cozy, festive ambiance. We will definitely be back next time we come to Victoria. This is a great restaurant.
Always great! Never a disappointing!
We always enjoy going to Spinnakers and bringing out-of-town guests.
Had a late lunch while visiting Victoria. Food was really good. Service was a bit slow. When we wanted to leave, we ended up going to the bar to get our bill as our server hadn't been by in a while. But other than that, it was great.
Great locally brewed beer, food was outstanding. Loved the "Pub" feel but with more upscale menu.
Delicious food, amazing service, and beautiful view. Be sure to try the hard cider: it is a little bit of summer in a glass. The bangers and smash is the perfect comfort food, too.
The next time I go, I'll definitely try out the bar at the kitchen, and watch the chefs work their magic!
Your entire staff are far and away the BEST!
September the 7th, 2012 was the 1st anniversary of when my girlfriend Tanya and I met. On our 2nd date, we were supposed to go to Spinnakers, but I changed the location to James Bay... and disappointed her. Not this time though!
I asked the staff to help me make this anniversary a very special event... I was planning to ask her to marry me, complete with attention grabbing wine glass ringing, photos, and sparkling pink (her favorite color) champagne.. SHE SAID YES!!! and the whole restaurant applauded! We are both very happy, even if Tanya is still in shock! This was a very memorable romantic event made all that more special because of YOU AND YOUR STAFF!
I can't thank you enough!
Enjoyable experience all around
the food was a big disappointment - roasted potatoes were barely warm and hard (not cooked), altho the server replaced them with fries on request. the rest of the food was fair. the server was very professional and experienced, which helped to make up for the poor food, but we are not sure we will go back.
Wonderful place to have dinner with friends. Great food with unbelievable scenery.
We usually dine at Spinnakers whenever we're in Victoria as it is one of our favourite places in town, and it never disappoints, especially when we snag a table on the upstairs patio. However, my wife and I don't drink much, and we like to have Shirley Temples or just pop with our meal. Well, on this last visit, my wife's S.T. was just awful (basically just Sprite, which was way under syruped, and grenadine. No cherry or orange juice). I had ginger ale and, again, it was basically just soda water with a bit of color. I had my server bring me a sprite, same thing. Yes, Spinnakers is known for their beer, and I've imbibed there many times, but this time we didn't want alcohol because it was mid-day and we were driving. However, meal, server A+
Admittedly, I have never before stayed in the city during tourist season so perhaps it is common for a restaurant that otherwise enjoys an excellent reputation, to become little more than a ‘tourist trap’, in season. That is exactly how I felt about Spinnaker’s when entertaining guests from Vancouver on Friday evening. Upscale prices with downscale food and service. Two adults combined their Halibut dinner so the husband, a light eater, would have enough to eat. At $27.00 a plate, one would expect a piece of Halibut that required something larger than a pair of tweezers to pick it up. Two teenaged boys, both seasoned world travelers and starving as boys usually are, wolfed down their nondescript fish and chips despite its less than ap
I have been many times before
This night they must have been shortstaffed because service was very slow
and fragmented. The servers however were very good.
The food choice was a vegetable pie which
had few veggies but a lot of green mush.so not recommeded
Beer and dessert were excellent.
Service was ok, albeit slow and the waitress did not seem to really care. She rarely smiled and seemed disinterested even thoguh it wasn't busy so she wasn't rushed. The food was ok, but not as good as I had recalled on previous trips. I was a bit disapponted as I remmember the experience being better in previous visits. Not sure I would go back for some time.
Spinnakers is a great place for anyone who loves great beer, locally sourced food, a relaxed atmosphere, and a beautiful location overlooking Victoria's active harbour. The sausages in my "Bangers and Smash" were the best I have ever had, and my son felt the pulled pork sandwich was very flavorful. Spinnakers malt vinegar on the Kennebec fries is delicious. My wife had a cod burger which was very good , although tomatoes would have been preferred over the red onions. The in-house brewed beer is fantastic. Overall, I strongly recommend Spinnakers, and have been there many times (and will continue to do so!). After your meal, there is a great walking path along the ocean to enjoy .
Menu is some what limited, We are on a special diet and I found it difficult to find something that I could eat. The food we did have was very tastely and presented nicely.
we always seem to end up here for at least one meal or beer and snacks when we have out of town guests!
While my salad was awesome and my daughters fries were great, my husbands burger was overcooked and his fries had been sitting too long before they arrived. The view from the table was minimal. I would definitely go back for the salad with the arugula in it but I would request a table on the deck.
Great service from the greeter to the waitress. The beer was excellent and the food was good and creative, especially for a brewpub.
We always visit when we are in Victoria and love it. Our waitress, Marah, was very friendly, informative and attentive. We had great food, beer , and experience all around.
Best salmon fish and chips anywhere! Chef should rethink cumin and caraway in the coleslaw.
If you are looking for a great restaurant with in house beers this is the place to go. We enjoyed the chief menu with all local ingredients and we could not decide on a favorite course. The service was amazing and very accommodating when we asked to be moved to the patio. I would definitely go again the next time I am in Victoria.
Spinnakers is a good brewpub with a great location. The food is very good and features local sources and creative use of beer related ingredients. The beer is top quality, but wine choices are limited. The service was rather slow and it was quit noisy. Fortunately we were a group of six and not in a hurry, so we talked and enjoyed the harbor view while waiting.
This was the very first time I made reservations on line. Specific seating was requested
and provided. The confirmation e-mail was almost instant. The experience was a pleasure and nothing fell through the cracks. See you again.
Local food! Locally sourced proteins and vegetables. House-brew beer. House-made fizzy waters. And very tasty.
Food tasty, but small portions. Ordered halibut.
We have been twice and really enjoy the atmosphere and food/beer selection. Love that the food is local and fresh. Beer selection is great.
Good spot to get away from the tourist restaurants and enjoy a nice view. Worth the walk from the main area of the bay.
This is the second time we've had a bad experience at what was our favorite restaurant. The last time I'd written them an email about it and received no reply. It's constantly packed so I believe they no longer care. The food was miserable again, the restaurant has either changed hands or it's so popular that the quality no longer matters.
Every time we go to Victoria, Spinnakers is always included in our itinery. I had the best caesar (drink) of all the places we visited. The pizza I had was awesome, never thought I would enjoy a pizza with rose petals on it! The waitress was phenominal!
The food is always excellent but it is so noisy it is hard to have a conversation. We are rethinkiong Spinnakaers as a place to go with friends because of that. Still love the food but probably just the two of us. There was a problem with one of dinners and they gave a free meal and dessert. They know how to make it right.
It was so noisy!
We had brought a couple visiting from South Africa (for 1 night) and wanted to give them a real Victoria dining experience. Spinnakers was the first restaurant that came to mind, but it was so noisy I couldn't carry on a conversation. THe food and drink we up to spinnakers excellence, but it was a bad experience not being able to visit.
i was not a fan of any of what i ordered. i think the menu needs to be revisited.
Restaurant could not find my reservation despite the fact that I had your confirmation on my cell phone.
Good food and service but annoyingly loud
Excellent food. Terrific brew selection. Wonderful chocolate truffle selection in gift shop.
The real disappointment was the food, which I can only describe as soggy overall. We ordered from the features menu because it looked more sophisticated, but the spot prawn risotto had far too many onions and poor quality prawns (5 small prawns on each order) with a bland rhubarb sauce that was superfluous to the entree; the halibut had a heavy, soggy fritata with it that nobody in the group wanted to eat; the only passable entree ordered was a seared tuna salad. There is a very heavy hand in the kitchen here - please lighten up and respect the ingredients! On a positive note, the waitress was very good - friendly, honest, diligent. We forgot to ask her name but she comes from Saltspring Island.
