Spinasse Ratings and Reviews
Delicious Northern Italian food prepared fresh. Intimate setting with views of kitchen. Attentive staff who remain calm. A relaxing experience as dinner unfolds. Our waitress Kathleen was quite pleasant and helpful. The pasta, freshly prepared by a tireless fellow in full view behind a window to the kitchen was a delight for both young and old to watch. Some of the silkiest and tastiest pasta we've ever had! The butternut squash ravioli were puffy little pillows that melted in your mouth.
They have received multiple Wine Spectator rewards for their extensive wine list. A good variety of wines by the glass as well with a premium 3 oz. pour selection of the day that was delectable.
Reserve well ahead of your visit - you will not be disappointed.
Spinasse was that exceptional experience that can renew your faith in “dining out”. Inventive dishes, brilliant flavors. Both kitchen and dining rooms were well staffed ensuring attention without feeling neglected. Happily, every course surpassed the last, each a delight in its own right.
If your tastes run to “spaghetti and meatballs”, frequent The Olde Spaghetti Factory.
If you enjoy pasta, the way it was meant to be enjoyed, make a reservation, and arrive with an open mind and a hearty appetite.
I was very, very disappointed in the quality of the food. I am picky, because flavor is very important to me—far more than how trendy, popular, and buzz-worthy a place is. I thought because Spinasse was so long established that it would be reliable. But we were hit in the gut (at the time and later, during the night) by the over-the-top dishes we'd anticipated being thrilled by. The egg poached in fontina with sage was horrifically rich even for my rich-food-loving self. No subtlety at all, and no sage flavor at all. Similarly, the angelhair pasta with burro e salvia was all butter, no sage flavor, a one-note samba. The buttersquash ravioli was far too sweet; would have been better set off by a contrasting flavor rather than candied walnuts. Wines by the glass were expensive and mediocre. I really wonder about the folks leaving all those rave reviews!
The freshest, most flavourful, melt-in-your-mouth pasta you'll eat outside of Italy. The menu is very true to its regional focus, with beautifully made specials to tempt you each night. The wine list is a great tribute to the Piedmont region of Italy, so think Barolo, Barbaresco, Barbera, and a small selection of regional whites and bubble. The mark-ups are fair and there is a good range of wine to appeal to both the frugal and the splurge (and the splurge is well worth it). It's also fun to look past diners at the bar, through a large window, to watch the expert pasta makers from start to finish. Staff were wonderful on our two most recent visits, but have been on point every time we've visited. This restaurant is the epitome of quality and excellence, which would belie the casual atmosphere, tucked nicely into the neighbourhood. I can't wait to return!
The food was so awesome. We had 8 dishes. The trout was fabulous. Salad greens, all four pasta dishes were outstanding. Pork tenderloin was good but I would try something else. Sorbet was good and perfect for finishing this meal. We had 2 lovely bottles of wine and excellent service. It is now a lovely memory.
It was my wife's birthday and a friend recommended me Spinasse. She is Italian and she can be very picky with Italian food. Spinasse was a wonderful experience because it is very genuine. My wife was pleased with the food and the wine, just like when we were traveling around Italy.
Our meal at Spinasse was one of the best, if not the very best, of our trip. The butternut squash ravioli was outstanding and we all loved the prosciutto appetizer. The beef cheeks were amazing as well. We were not familiar with the wines but when we asked for help we were directed to a selection that was absolutely what we had in mind. The restaurant is cozy and pleasant; we were able to converse and hear each other easily which is not as common as it should be these days! We will definitely return the next time we are in Seattle.
Excellent service from the start. We began with a salad which was light, refreshing, and full of flavor. Next we tried two 1/2 portions of the pasta (signature dish and the agnolotti) both were fantastic. We finished up with sharing the braised beef cheek; it was fork tender, rich, and super delicious. I did find their wine prices to be a bit high however. Overall it was a great experience and would highly recommend it.
A really great meal with my wife for her birthday. It wasn't cheap but we did the "taste the menu" option for dinner ($105/person) and it meant we got to try a little bit of everything. A few things that I wouldn't have ordered in a normal situation turned out to be fantastic.
Beef Cheek was out of this world. (I know... right?)
Looking forward to going back and having some of our favorites!
Dining here was everything I imagined it would be. From the friendly hostess, the knowledgeable and energetic waitress to the amazing meal. Started with some complimentary amuse bouche from the chef. I ordered the top 5 dishes in the nation.... The rich hand-cut Piedmontese egg-yolk noodles, tajarin, with the sage butter. Every bite was like heaven in my mouth. So creamy, yet flavorful. Not at all greasy like one would think with the name "butter" in the dish. Every ingredient that makes this dish compliments each other so well. The pasta was light yet the 1/2 order filled you up to the point where you were comfortably happy. At that point in the meal, they served me some bread... i forgot where they told me it was from but it was so light and buttery i didn't care... I ate it all!! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves a wonderful meal worth every dollar and calorie.
