What Insiders Are Saying
Spinasse in Capitol Hill is one of the best fork-up-your-money Italian restaurants in Seattle.
Seemed a bit over rated but still overall a good dinner. Would not say it’s the best restaurant in Seattle as Infatuation led me to believe.
Everything was perfection
Best Valentine’s date dinner ever!
This place isn’t just the best in Seattle or even the USA but globally!!! We’ve travelled the world and found this gem in our own city.
I have been dining at Spinasse since it opened. The food quality is excellent but because of the cost it is always special occasion experience. However after dining there this past Wed I will rethink going back ever. For 250$ one does not want everything piled on the table in less than 45min- with half of it Luke warm from kitchen misfire. The real tragedy was the manager who did not want to do anything to correct our experience until after the bill arrived. And I had the displeasure of having to ask her why this was acceptable for the heavenly rated Spinasse. Breaking my heart because the agnolotti and rabbit appetizer were amazing.
Love this place. One of the best restaurants in Seattle.
The food was great as was the wine. Loved our waiter.
Spinasse does not disappoint!
Loved this dining experience!
Celebrated 2 birthdays with friends. It was snowing so our friends were delayed, we were seated without them. That’s a big deal when the website clearly says all in the party need to be there to be seated and your table might be released after 15 minutes. Who knows if we just benefited from the bad weather or not, but we were glad. We brought our own wine, so we didn’t pick from what was on offer. The food was everything we’d heard about it. In many ways the best Italian we’ve had, including in Italy. The approach was fresh, innovative, calm and uncomplicated, and represented the best of this winter season. Kudos to all. Here’s what we had. Everything was exceptional.
We ordered the sampler antipasto that gave tastings of all four on the menu: prosciutto de Parma, Insalada cicoria, Bietole e Formaggio Di Capra (roasted beets), porchetta tonnata). Because we needed to gild the Lilly, we also ordered the Uovo con fonduta (crazy cheese fondu with a poached egg). There was plenty to share. We noticed other diners with just one antipasti, and the portions were substantial. For the Primi or pasta course we ordered two at the suggestion of our gracious and helpful wait staff; the Tagarin con Butrro e Salvia (thin pasta with butter and sage) and Agnolotti Di Coniglio (braised rabbit stuffed angnolotti with double brodo). Secundi was off the hook: Capunet (Swiss chard wrapped braised beef) and Anatra (pan seared duck breast).
Finally, we had all four of the desserts on offer that night; Torta al Cioccolato, Zuppa englese, Tiramisu, and Panna Cotta.
I should note that reservations are pretty much required, but there was space at the bar throughout the evening. Perhaps it was all the snow keeping folks home, but you might get a bar seat without planning ahead.
Best Italian restaurant in Seattle bar none. Maybe the world.
Went here for my wife’s birthday and she loves Italian food. We’d never been, and I reserved based on great reviews. DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Food was outstanding, service was fantastic. Overall a great experience. I would recommend this restaurant very highly and we would absolutely go back.
It is a bit pricey...but you definitely get what you pay for.
5 stars all the way around, and if I could give them 6 out of 5 I would.
Amazing restaurant! Everything we ate was delicious and did not dissapoint. Can't wait to go back.
We were recommended Spinasse by our daughter as a place to have dinner for our anniversary. It was a fabulous meal! Our waiter was helpful in suggesting dishes & portions so we could try multiple dishes. It was all so delicious!
This was our second time doing the full tasting menu at Spinasse, along with wine pairings. The meal was wonderful. The only thing stopping me from giving a full 5 stars across all categories is that one of the mains (the duck) was technically perfect but lacking flavor/creativity, and the server could have spent a bit more time explaining each course. For a special occasion, Spinasse is an absolute delight. If you are doing the tasting menu, taste! Don't try to finish every course. We were delighted to take home several small boxes with our leftovers.
Outstanding dining experience, one of my favorite restaurants ever. The staff is knowledgeable and simply amazing, the food is executed to perfection.
I am from out of town so unfortunately for me is a rare event but it will part of my every Seattle trip from now on.
I love their butter sage pasta. It’s unbelievable! The food in general is just incredible. The waitress was very nice & service was good but I wanted to order the Semifreddo to go and apparently “the chef doesn’t like to do that” which I think is ridiculous. I was going 5 mins down the road besides if I want melted semifreddo & pay for it, isn’t that my choice? Guess not.
It was good but didn’t overwhelm our group of 4. We spent about $400 including wine for 4 people. Ordered 2 appetizers, 1 shared salad, 3 first courses (small size) and 1 large main dish plus a side of the carrots. Honestly I was still hungry. The portions are fairly small for the price. Delicious food but nothing super mind-blowing that I’ll crave to go back for. Many people had hyped up this place as one of their favorites. It was good, don’t get me wrong, but we likely won’t return. The $95 bottle of wine we had was underwhelming. I’ve had better from grocery store.
Amazing service, quality food
Luis absolutely killed. Our meal was so phenomenal. Tasting menu was great, a ton of food, excellent to get a good sense of the menu too. Will certainly be back for more.
We wanted a special dinner to celebrate my daughter’s first big job after graduating college and relocating to Seattle. After hours of research, we selected this restaurant. Without question, the most delicious meal we have had in a long time. Every dish was superb! We ordered two desserts, both very fair portions and worthy of licking the plate with our tongues! Katelynn, our waitress, was great as well. Just a great experience!
I was taken to Spinasse a year ago when visiting Seattle and was delighted then. I booked for a friend visiting from San Francisco on Saturday and we had the most charming evening . The food is sublime and the atmosphere congenial and friendly. The staff were very knowledgable and helpful in guiding us through the menu and wine choices. This is a standout restaurant. Thank you!
Always consistent and terrific!
Just amazing food.
An outstanding experience through and through. Couldn’t recommend more highly.
I had an amazing evening. The food and service is always incredible. Whether your hosting friends and family or looking for a date spot, I can't recommend Spinasse enough.
The pasta dishes are great. The risotto is fabulous. Service
Our server Baird was the best!
Great food and great service!
Delicious Italian food with great ambience. See fresh pasta hanging in swaths in the kitchen, and a gorgeous bar in the other room gives you a sense of Spinasse. Delicious food, great hospitality. The pasta was so fresh and yummy; I was only disappointed that the noodles in the ragu weren't wider (they were quite thin). Overall, wonderful dinner with a long-time wonderful friend.
Always a treat with regard to food. Fine pastas. Kind wait staff. We still love this restaurant.
Portions seem to be getting smaller. Wait staff , perhaps in an effort to be unobtrusive, were almost forgetful. Too long between courses( I appreciate and like pauses between but not intermissions). Servers changed while we were there and we didn’t know who was taking care of table. Difficult to get anyone’s attention to ask for check. This has happened before but server let us know someone else was taking over, which was helpful.
Really just nails everything it set out to do. Deliver fresh handmade pastas, fresh fare and fantastic wine selections in a cozy, rustic environment. Service was top notch, very well informed, humble and gracious. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Count on a return visit next time I'm in Seattle.
We have been before. Always fun. Great atmosphere and service. Food is good too, but it varies, sometimes better than others. Menu is a little limited an never changes very much. Always a couple specials.
My friend and I said our goodbyes as her Uber arrived and we both shared how the evening was absolutely perfect. Spinasse played a significant role. The service was warm, knowledgeable and very helpful. The food was brilliantly created for each bite to be savored. The Primi Sampler - perfection. The beet salad was my favorite. Next up - beef and pork ragu. We both appreciated the richness in flavor and yet a lightness thanks to the pasta and a clearly smart chef. When do you say a ragu was light? Trout with onion relish and olives for our meal was the perfect choice. The combo of conversation with great friend, attentive and non-intrusive service, a menu created with smarts and a lot of heart served up with a well paired and delicious Barbera D’Alba = “the evening was perfect.”
We had a delightful and delicious evening. We look forward to going to Spinasse again.
Similar to the first time I went, it was sublime. The best Italian food I have ever eaten. However...65 degrees is a little cold, crank up the heat a little!
It's always delicious and consistent
You cannot find a better meal in Seattle
Though the food was good, the service and seating layout left much to be desired. We arrived and were seated at a 2 top table that was, at most, 3-4” away from the table next to us. Close enough to practically be at the same table with our future neighbors. We were unsure if this was on purpose, or accidental, as the rest of the tables along our wall were pushed together to make 4 seats. Being there for our anniversary, and not wanting to be a part of anyone else’s conversation, we decided to push the tables together to avoid that. For the next several minutes I overheard the staff whispering about us and pointing toward our table, as opposed to coming over and addressing it. It was very uncomfortable, as we were not aware that it was a big deal. Eventually someone came over and said they needed to move the table back. We explained the close quarters, and I would be surprised if they could have cared less. Finally, we asked them if we could move, and they, reluctantly, let us. I’ll add that we had to gather our glasses and menus ourselves when we moved. No assistance was offered to my wife or me. After that whole fiasco, the service was decent. Another odd note I might add... as we were waiting for the check, they brought a 2 headed candle out to our table and said “Happy Anniversary”. No little dessert or treat or even a mint to celebrate us, just a candle. While I’m not at all expecting handouts, I felt that was rather odd and a little half-assed, to be frank. Overall, it didn’t live up to the hype that my friends and colleagues have given it, and I most likely won’t jump at returning or recommending.
Best Italian food in the city. Creative and delicious cuisine and service was fantastic. A somewhat hidden gem of which I will definitely be returning to many times in the future. Overall a great experience and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking Italian food.
Food and service was amazing. Cant wait to go back.
Just had another amazing meal on a cold, rainy Seattle night at my old friend, Spinasse. The sausage-stuffed cipollini onions were an inspiration and the butter and sage pasta worth every carb and calorie it contained. Rabbit meatballs are the go-to for main course. Service was attentive but not overbearing. I love this restaurant!
