This is a fancy hot pot restaurant, which seems a bit odd to say. The decor is fantastic, and despite everything being wooden, the noise level is not bad. I was still able to hear somebody at a normal volume across from me.
This hot pot is the best I've ever had. Yes, you pay for the sauce bar. Was it worth it? Yes. I'm not used to paying for the sauce bar, but the quality was noticeable. None of the sauces were diluted, and everything was delicious. The presentation of the food was great and made everything even more appetizing. They provide you with some small cans of sesame oil which you pour into a small bowl of herbs and spices. It's supposed to help coat your stomach and protect you from the spice. I absolutely needed it.
The level 1 spicy was extremely spicy, but thoroughly enjoyed! The mushroom broth was also terrific. I look forward to trying each broth and discovering what my favorites are.
The service is somewhat lacking - I think they might be slightly understaffed. Our waitress only spoke Mandarin which I had some difficulty understanding. In the end I gave up trying to understand what she was talking about - I think it had something to do with having our order memorized for the next time we go? For an incredibly spicy broth, I needed a lot of water. Unfortunately, they don't leave a pitcher at your table. I had to try flagging down different people for water. I think it would have helped if the drinks we ordered had come in the beginning, but the drinks were forgotten about and I didn't realize we didn't get them until almost the end of our meal.
Ultimately, I still highly suggest this as a place to go. Maybe to show off NYC and hot pot to friends who visit or special occasions since it's still very pricey.
it was little noisy but clean place and good food
Waited for a long time, service is so so, but food is pretty good.
Great service, amazing food!
Servers aren’t used to customers who aren’t speaking Chinese. However, they were very helpful and the food is legit and marvelous!! So good.
Spice World is decored in traditional Chengdu style courtyard, despite being on second floor of a Chinatown mall. Many tables with wooden benches are laid down in a grid, with a hot pot sitting in the middle. Diners have choices of multiple hot pot base. We chose the two flavor divided pot with one hot and one non-spicy. Server is very clear and friendly in her delivery of service and food items. Pots, soup base, and ordered small plates of food stuff arrive fresh and on time. Overall a wonderful experience and going back in a week
Service was horrible and staff needs to be replaced. Restaurant was visually appealing and the food was excellent. This reminds me of that old saying... that you pay your staff to get rid of your customers. I dont think I would eat at this place again as they forgot our drinks. We kept asking over and over again and all they could say was it’s coming, but never did. Then we asked for forks, 3 times as some of my guests need a fork. Finally I got forks.... plastic forks. How embarrassing that they dont have silverware. I guess you live and learn.
I omitted after having their pig brains which I enjoyed eating before as a Chinese. This was the only thing that I ate but my friends didn’t. We reported this issue to the staff but they told me that I should find out if my body could accept pig brains instead of apology or investigation. Definitely gonna report it.
I would recommend people go to other hotpot spots like tang hotpot or liuyishou, where food and services are way better.
Waiters bad at communicating orders. We checked a lot of boxes in the menu but they either circled or crossed some of the orders without notifying us whether it was cancelled or not. Also some was not delivered but never gave explanation for why until asked. Food was brought to table without bribing attention to it so we forgot some of the covered dishes since they were covered and in the corner of the table, never knew it was delivered.
Best hotpot in town.
thanks to opentable otherwise the waiting time is horrible =)
The food is so delicious and is almost the same as the that in China.
Best spicy hotpot in New York. Black tofu is great. I really like beef tripes.
Very slow service. For the guests waiting outside. Please guide them in one area. They all standing at the entrance and block the people who are in and out.
The food is great here. But the reason I rate this low is about their reservation system. Although we made a reservation at 8pm. We waited an hour and half for our table. When you asked the check-in person, they just told us the 7:30 pm reservations were not seated yet. Excuse me? Don’t trust their reservation, you still need to wait a long time...
Even with the reservation there is still a wait. We waited for one hour to get our table.
Thanks to opentable we didnt hev to wait a minute dispite a long waiting line. Food was great, best authentic sichuan hot pot in New york.
Good for date
Kine of expensive
Very very spicy
The waiter kept asking us to eat faster and shut down the power to drive us away.
The food is expensive and the amount is poor.
Beware of the spicy broth...even the lightest spice is wayyyy spicy, unless they gave us the wrong one... wowza!!!
Interesting concept, good ambiance and delicious!
If it’s your first time there, also be aware of the self serve sauce bar that includes fruits. Otherwise, they’ll add it to your tab and you won’t know what it is. We didn’t use it, so we asked for it to be removed from the check.
Food was great and hot pot dining was a whole new experience for us. It was great!
Excellent food and services!! Top notch
Price is high without membership. Food is good! Drink is good as well.
Everything was great there, especially the sauce: Sesame sauce! It has the best sauce for hot pots in New York City.
Feels like having hot pot in chongqing. Love it.
Very traditional Chinese decoration, beautiful. The food was tasty, not very spicy though(my friend and I ordered the most spicy pot). Great place.
The service is alright.
The place is really good, food is tasty, but a bit pricey though, but hey, it is for a Tinder Date. What you get out of it is worth the price.
The hot pot is a special one with the bear shape beef tallow and the food is fine. But the waitress not pay so much attention to our request, especially when it comes to the free offer.

That was so good and I really like it very much for sure
Hoo,I am really happy these is a traditional and authentic sichuan hotpot restaurant in downtown flushing. Well you know it is a great taste for chinese guy. If most people wanna try different hotpot style, it is a good choice. I highly recommend this restaurant and by the way you guys can choose how spicy you like even none spicy. Okay no more words just try it
Food was OKAY, we ordered way too much for two of us. It might be too spicy for most people. The air vent made the restaurant freezing! Even the hot pot could not warm me up. After we paid our bill, one of the waitress kept asking me to sign my check, which made me so uncomfortable!
This is not my first time. I like sichuan hotpot，It's very authentic. I would recommend my friends. It's even better if more spicy.
The first choice to have dinner with friends, especially in winter.
Hotpot is really good!
Pretty good！Lots of fun
