Excellent brunch with flavorful options
Spice Finch is very good. Complex flavors. Good variety. Plenty of vegetarian options. They were very busy on a Saturday night and the service was still on point. All the staff pitched in to get the job done. There is reason they are that crowded.
Terrible. Bad service.
Food was good, not great. Expensive for portion sizes.
The ambiance was definitely hipster/trendy, with the Warwick Hotel next door. The waitstaff was very helpful and courteous, as well as creatively tattooed. The food was excellent: We started with stuffed grape leaves, in which the kitchen staff eschewed the usual rice for farro (probably historically more accurate) and sweetened mildly with dried apricots. The blistered shishito chilis with tahini and harissa were equally excellent. The staff encouraged "family style" eating, and my wife and I enjoyed sharing the date-braised lamb shank (slow-braised for 16 hours) and the Merguez Kabab, which was very tender (not always easy to pull off; I make my own charcuterie). Our waiter recommended a Tempranillo, but I've had many bad experiences ordering these Spanish wines in restaurants (I resorted to developing a bin or two in my own cellar to enjoy this wine) and we opted instead to take a nice Nebbiolo-based Italian. Our waiter made great recommendations, and I did have a moment of regret not trusting his initial recommendation. We shared a custard with coffee and port. A memorable evening. We'll be back to sample more of this creative menu.
Great ambience. Loved the food options. Will definitely come back again!
My colleagues and I had a wonderful time. Spice Finch and it’s staff is great!
Beautiful atmosphere and delicious food. Great place for a group meal- we came with our family of 7 and everyone LOVED it. Also has an awesome wrap around bar - we were easily seated for a drink before our whole party arrived. Shakshuka was delicious and the flatbread with dips were out of this world!
I love Spice Finch because the flavors are so interesting and healthier options form the core of their menu. From their delicious flatbread and spreads, to the piquant dressings they use on their salads to the savory entrees, I can always find something that hits the spot here.
Food was excellent. However, we had a 9:15 reservation and didn’t get seated til 10. Also, we sat at the bar for 20-25 minutes while waiting for table and literally cd not even order a drink. Bartender was MIA. Really annoying. Once we we’re finally seated it took another 20-25 min to get a drink from the server. Overall, we would come back because the food was great but I hope service is better.
We got the tasting menu and it was incredible. Every dish was perfect and different and more than enough food. The service was excellent with our waiter.
We used opentable to make the reservation. We weren’t seated for 30 min after we got there. We then got seated at a table in front of the bar. The entire time I kept getting bumped into like I was in the aisle seat of a plane. People kept saying excuse me as I had my chest hugged to to the table because I couldn’t move any more forward. I didn’t complain because I was on a date and trying to enjoy my night but what’s the point of a reservation if you’re just going to give me a crap table.
Experience was kind of a mess, frankly. We were late to be seated. First appetizers came right out, then a long wait for next small plates. We were finished and were pretty much full when our vegetable side came out even later. We were disappointed as the restaurant was highly recommended. Perhaps an off night. Though the food was pretty good, that is not what we will remember about the evening.
Fabulous food. Service was good but pacing was a bit irregular. On balance we enjoyed it very much.
We shared a lot of small plates and enjoyed everything. I have been there many times, and food was always delicious. Vegetarian options are excellent and everyone loves them. I will return and recommend it to others.
I love the food at this restaurant. Everything is fantastic.
Great find in Center City. Interesting menu and terrific service. We will return, probably many times.
Did brunch. Interesting choice is a nice ambience. The service from the hostess to the bartender to the waitress was strangely distant bordering on unfriendly. I was a bit embarrassed for my guests as I suggested the place.
Bartender on Saturday for lunch hour with rose colored glasses (literally) has no service personality and mediocre skills. Never checked on us after food was delivered and genuinely seemed to be put out to be serving us. Bar was not busy; however the restaurant was. Maybe she was too busy trying to service the service bar. Who knows. Won’t go back.
The food and drink were amazingly flavorful. I was tempted to go back the next day!
I cannot wait to go back. Service was excellent from every person who served our table. Food was well presented, tasty, and a value for the price. This was especially true for the chocolate cake desert. OMG. We arrived for a 5:30 seating and the noise level was pleasant. As more diners arrived the noise level rose but not objectionably so. This is a great place for dinner, and i am sure for other occasions as well. Thank you, thak you.
Servers have been trained to discourage people from ordering if they think it’s enough or too much—to the point that they tell customers they’re basically not allowed to order if they don’t think it’s a good idea. This happened tonight and the server was totally wrong about portions. Other similar moments happened with other servers.
Too much “this is the way we do things, so you’ll just have to accept that” and way too little “the customer is always right...”
Really good food in a comfortable space
We had 2 breads with 4 spreads to start. Every spread was a different savory delight. Then we had backed cauliflower. The range of spice flavors was rich and warming. We also had the mushroom pasta - subtle mushroom flavor was brought out by the pasta and sauce ( like a very light bechamel). We shared the baked curry acorn squash which again was a delicious multi-layered blend of light curry and sweetness from the squash. Wonderful wine list, full bar, non alcoholic drinks also. You won’t be disappointed!
Impeccable service, delicious food - they even shared a recipe with me!!
Nice food, but not as good as the first time I went. Ordered the tasting menu and was disappointed in the choices. I enjoyed it more when I ordered a la carte.
Service and ambiance was great and I would definitely return again.
AMAZING FOOD! Service was incredibly backed up and slow however they gave us free dessert. spooky.
We waited over 20 minutes after our reservation time to be seated. Luckily I wasn’t going to a show that night, but it was still annoying. Our waitress was very slow, which explained why we had to wait so long to be seated. She disappeared after taking our order, never to be seen again and forgot to bring one of our dishes. I was taking a friend out to celebrate her 50th birthday and made a written request in the reservation for a piece of cake. When our waitress finally reappeared, I asked for the check which is usually the que to bring out the cake. 10 minutes later she brought us dessert menus. Almost another 10 minutes later she came back and I asked for the check again, left my card and went to the restroom. When I returned my friends told me the manager came by and asked was everything “Ok” and promptly retrieved our check. They also said that our waitress came back and said she would bring a piece of cake for my friend. After waiting for at least 10 more minutes, which took us to the 2 hour mark, we accepted the fact that there would be no birthday cake and bailed. To add insult to injury, I saw a guy walking out with a piece of cake in his hand as we were leaving the restaurant, but it didn’t even have a candle in it so who knows if it was for us.
Really love Spice Finch, but this experience was less than stellar.
Food was good as always but service was a disaster. It wasn’t just slow. It was barely existent. By the end of the night I think a manger took our dessert order and we asked for the check at the same time fearing how long that would take.
Overall, we enjoyed our meal. The baked cheese and cauliflower were standout dishes. We received our first 4 small plates very quickly...but then it took a long time to get the final 2. Our waiter very kindly brought us to wine to sample and was apologetic about the wait.
Service was horrible. It took forever to get our drinks. Our entrees took about two hours to receive. When they did bring our dinner entrees, my husband’s entree was still missing. They also brought out the appetizers again with the entrees. The food was just ok.
It was my third time at Spice Finch. My 2 companions had never even heard of it. Our food was very well prepared and was tasty. Service could have been better. I will definitely go back.
Food was delicious. Great flavors in every dish.
Outstanding Innovative and flavorful menu
I go to Spice Finch for the lamb shank. Best I’ve had in Philly so far. It’s tender and falling off the bone with a sweet and tangy seasoning on the outside. It’s an outrageously generous serving that could feed four not so hungry people, two moderately hungry people, or if you’re starving like I was when I was there, one person can take care of the whole thing. Served with perfectly roasted root vegetables and a grain&cous cous mix.
For non-drinkers, the non-alcoholic negroni is outstanding. I order it every time.
Really nice menu with changing options which is nice. The tables are just a bit too close together although the noise level in general is reasonable. All good and would go back again.
A bit too “flat bread” centric for my taste, as I am unable to fully give myself to carbs these days. What we ordered was tasty.
I had lunch. Not sure what dinner is like. I thought it was ok but not a standout.
I haven’t been here for more than a year. The food has gotten so much better with lots of vegan options! This place is as good as Suraya.
Amazingly flavorful food and bright cocktail program with a service staff that is incredibly knowledgeable and down to earth friendly. The ambiance is mid-century mod meets Morocco. Very cool vibe and cozy.
Great food, but such slow service we couldn't eat and drink all we wanted! I'd come back to sit at the bar and eat snacks
