I have already recommended Spice Finch to several friends and relatives. Some very unique dishes, prepared exquisitely, service was excellent, very relaxed atmosphere. Prices were reasonable for a restaurant in Center City Philadelphia. Although there are a few meat and fish items, Vegans will love the choices.
This was my first time at Spice Finch and I'm returning in a few days with an out-of-town friend. Loved the distinctive spice combinations, the service was impeccable and, perhaps not something many people will care about, but I do....this place has the best iced tea I've ever had at a restaurant.
The three of us ordered a variety of small plates to share. Everything was delicious - interesting spice combinations made for a most enjoyable meal.
Good food and service. Located in rittenhouse area. Lots of options for vegetarians. Adjacent to Warwick hotel. We will return. Nice ambiance. It checks all the boxes!
We would have rated five stars; however, iit took a while for some one to wait on us (as a few other tables that came in behind us did receive acknowledgement and service well before we did).
We had a fabulous time. And our server was amazing and kind.
Our second time here (my wife insisted). Their interpretation of middle eastern cuisine is very creative. Everything is excellent, except for the dessert (the desserts here don't do it for me). We chose the 4-course tasting menu, which was a bit too much food; we'll take the 3-course tasting menu next time. The wine pairings were excellent; in general, the wine recommendations we've had in our two experiences here have been excellent (different waiters both times). The sound level is lively, which befits a restaurant that aspires to trendy. The wait staff is excellent. We ain't young, but were quite comfortable here, and will eat here again.
Second verse, same as the first. (Hermins Hermits) Our dinner with friends from NC was just as great as last time.Loren, our server, could not have been better. You have to try this place and then you'll try it again.
My friend and I ordered the chefs tasting menu. The food was excellent and our server was amazing and very knowledgeable about the menu. I would recommend this restaurant to friends!
Excellent food. The shredded wheat dessert was delicious. Highly recommend.
Always good experience here but breakfast was terrible. Cappocino had almost no foam. Yogurt had almost no yogurt. Avocado toast on a too thick piece of bread. Breakfast sandwich rated ‘eh.’ Standard breakfast with bacon rated very good.
Although we are very sorry to hear breakfast was not as pleasant as your previous visits, we really appreciate your support and hope you continue to join us for dinner! Thank you for your feedback as it helps us communicate to our kitchen and staff ways to better improve our guests' experiences.
Loved the food and drinks!
I was expecting to be wowed based on Craig Laban’s review. The carrots, tahini, beets, lamb were very good. The shrimp, mushroom pasta and snapper were bland and lacking spices. So 50/50 basically. The meal came to $240- food, cocktails, wine, tax and tip for 4 people. I guess that’s not bad by center city standards for a name restaurant but I’m starting to tire of paying that kind of money. I’m sticking to small, ethnic byob.
First time at Spice Finch but won't be our last. Food was outstanding, both small plates and large. Our server Dylan was most attentive as well as the others who brought the food. Thanks for a great evening.
One of the best meals we’ve had in Philly in the past four years. Outstanding.
Thank you so much for coming by for dinner! We really appreciate you taking the time to review, and look forward to having you again soon!
Terrible food really inedible. I order toast and jam, I received one slice of bread with mushed up pear loosely described as jam. I asked for strawberry or raspberry jam, they didn’t have any. I also order the dates which were sour and couldn’t be eaten.
My partner order the breakfast sandwich. The sandwich came with house made flat bread dripping in oil, once again inedible.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review! We take feedback like this very seriously as it helps us improve and provide guests with an experience that keeps them coming back. The pomegranate molasses in the date truffles is supposed to add a slight tang to balance out the sweetness of the dates, and the salty crunch of the cashew streusel - we are sorry to hear it came off as sour but will be sure to communicate that to the kitchen to ensure guests do not experience this in the future.
Love this restaurant! Food is absolutely amazing and cocktails were yummy. The only thing I dislike is going through the hotel lobby to use the bathroom, takes you out if the warm cozy ambiance of the restaurant.
Recently went with my wife, young adult daughter (who is a vegetarian) and her boyfriend. We had a number of small plates and two large plates. Each was better than the last, and our server Rich was friendly and attentive without being too intrusive. Can't wait to return.
Superb from appetizers to entree to dessert
Loved the food and had the chefs tasting menu and wine pairing
Went here for brunch. Food was outstanding- highly recommend the special frittata and the shakshouka. They don’t have non-dairy milk which isn’t a big deal. As excellent as the food and everything was- I don’t think I would want to pay 16$ for a skillet of food with no sides. With coffee and tax/tip it was 52$ for two people. It was very filling but just a lot
Hi Genevieve! Thank you so much for joining us for brunch! We are so glad you took advantage of our frittata special and were hopefully able to enjoy the shakshuka skillet with a side of sourdough flatbread for dipping. I'm sorry you were not able to get non-dairy milk with your coffee- we have both almond and oat milk in house and would be happy to accommodate any dietary needs of that nature in the future!
This is a hidden gem
Eat all the breads and all the spreads! So so good, I am dreaming of them!
Really great, interesting food. I recommend the flatbread, in particular, as well as the tasting menu, in its entirety.
Service was interesting. We had a huge party and when the dishes came out, the server did not inform us if the plares were for specific order.
Was my partner’s birthday. Server was exceptional and took such good care of her. Fantastic food. Just a wonderful evening and really reasonable. Highly recommend.
Excellent! Very impressed. My team loved it and we will be back next time we are all in Philly
The place was empty for lunch. Our waitress never smiled, never engaged with us, very cold. Food was mediocre, and not much of it. Very disappointed after hearing good things about it. Would never return.
Excellent brunch with flavorful options
Spice Finch is very good. Complex flavors. Good variety. Plenty of vegetarian options. They were very busy on a Saturday night and the service was still on point. All the staff pitched in to get the job done. There is reason they are that crowded.
Terrible. Bad service.
Food was good, not great. Expensive for portion sizes.
We like the food at Spice Finch very much. The service is almost too good, with food coming a bit too quickly. One of the things I really appreciate about Spice Finch is that when you request a quiet table, they actually reserve one for you. We were there about 5:30 and were immediately seated at a lovely corner table in the far room. It was quiet! When we left at about 7:15, the main room with the bar was quite noisy. This has occurred on two occasions and I really appreciate it.
The ambiance was definitely hipster/trendy, with the Warwick Hotel next door. The waitstaff was very helpful and courteous, as well as creatively tattooed. The food was excellent: We started with stuffed grape leaves, in which the kitchen staff eschewed the usual rice for farro (probably historically more accurate) and sweetened mildly with dried apricots. The blistered shishito chilis with tahini and harissa were equally excellent. The staff encouraged "family style" eating, and my wife and I enjoyed sharing the date-braised lamb shank (slow-braised for 16 hours) and the Merguez Kabab, which was very tender (not always easy to pull off; I make my own charcuterie). Our waiter recommended a Tempranillo, but I've had many bad experiences ordering these Spanish wines in restaurants (I resorted to developing a bin or two in my own cellar to enjoy this wine) and we opted instead to take a nice Nebbiolo-based Italian. Our waiter made great recommendations, and I did have a moment of regret not trusting his initial recommendation. We shared a custard with coffee and port. A memorable evening. We'll be back to sample more of this creative menu.
Great ambience. Loved the food options. Will definitely come back again!
My colleagues and I had a wonderful time. Spice Finch and it’s staff is great!
Beautiful atmosphere and delicious food. Great place for a group meal- we came with our family of 7 and everyone LOVED it. Also has an awesome wrap around bar - we were easily seated for a drink before our whole party arrived. Shakshuka was delicious and the flatbread with dips were out of this world!
I love Spice Finch because the flavors are so interesting and healthier options form the core of their menu. From their delicious flatbread and spreads, to the piquant dressings they use on their salads to the savory entrees, I can always find something that hits the spot here.
Food was excellent. However, we had a 9:15 reservation and didn’t get seated til 10. Also, we sat at the bar for 20-25 minutes while waiting for table and literally cd not even order a drink. Bartender was MIA. Really annoying. Once we we’re finally seated it took another 20-25 min to get a drink from the server. Overall, we would come back because the food was great but I hope service is better.
We got the tasting menu and it was incredible. Every dish was perfect and different and more than enough food. The service was excellent with our waiter.
We used opentable to make the reservation. We weren’t seated for 30 min after we got there. We then got seated at a table in front of the bar. The entire time I kept getting bumped into like I was in the aisle seat of a plane. People kept saying excuse me as I had my chest hugged to to the table because I couldn’t move any more forward. I didn’t complain because I was on a date and trying to enjoy my night but what’s the point of a reservation if you’re just going to give me a crap table.
