Spiazzo Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
We have eaten here countless times over the years, and it never fails to disappoint. Great neighborhood restaurant, however also worth the drive if you were looking for great Italian food. Just tried the new octopus salad and it was one of the best I have ever had...also the seafood risotto was terrific. Five stars!
A real gem in the West Portal Neighborhood. Food is delicious, even more so recently. Menu offers a wide variety including vegetarian options. It's generally quiet enough for easy conversation although when really busy it can get a bit noisy. The waiters are attentive and friendly. It's easy to become a regular.
We have eaten here probably a dozen times or more. They are usually crowded. But generally we get seated close to the reservation time. This time we had to wait 45 minutes past the time to be seated. I don't think we will go again on a Saturday. Week days are better.
We have eaten at Spiazzo's for many years, the food is always consistently good. The atmosphere is warm, friendly and service is efficient, you are never rushed to leave. Somehow no matter how busy they manage to seat you within a few minutes of your reservation.
Spiazzo is a consistently good local spot ranking with the best Italian restaurants in town. There are always several specials and a good wine list. The owner is always present and makes things are going well. I recommend reservations on Friday or Saturday. The (special) artichoke ravaolis are awesome.
When my party and I were there, the restaurant was nit busy so I cannot comment on noise level. I had the roast duck which was a large portion and excellent. One of my friends had the pumpkin ravioli which he thought was excellent. . My other friend had the sole dire which he commented had too much Ken ok n fir his taste. The service was attentive without being pushy. The wine lust is a nice Mic of Italian and California wines. This was a very nice experience.
I have written so many reviews for Spiazzo I am running out of words.
It is my favorite Restaurant, and I eat here at least 2 times a month,
sometimesI am there once or twice a week. The food is The Best Italian,
and the Wait Staff are absolutely the best. Almost afraid to say that,
for fear they will be offered jobs elsewhere.
We came here for an extended family dinner. Everything was wonderful - the food, service, and ambiance. I had the Veal Saltimboca, others chose various items veg and non-ver. everyone was VERY happy with their dinners. A note about some other reviews here: some noted that their food was salty or in some cases underspiced. Northern and central Italian dishes, when served in Italy, are typically on the salty side, and usually depend on the natural flavors of the ingredients. Meats are often marinated in saltwater. Otoh, southern Italian dishes frequently depend more on applied spices. But in any case, as with any good restaurant, if you prefer your food to be less salty, you should let them know and I'm sure that they'll be happy to accommodate your preferences.
