Great food and attentive service. Wine glass was fuller than most places. Salads and pasta were fresh and nicely seasoned. The salmon was superbly cooked.
We have eaten at Spiazzo's many times and have never been disappointed. Last Saturday night seemed to be a very busy one, so we were glad we had made a reservation. Noise level was high, but to be expected in a small restaurant. It is also a great place for lunch.
The food was hot and served quickly by the staff. The atmosphere was energetic, good place for a date but you may have to speak up.
Food is great. Servers are nice
We have been going to Spiazzo for years, it's one of our favorite places. A neighborhood gem with outstanding Italian food, really great service, and a friendly vibe. Our favorite dishes are the Eggplant Parmigiana, Fettucini Con Gamberoni, and Tortelloni in Salsa Rosa. Their dipping sauce for the bread is also delicious. Highly recommended!
The pasta was so tasty and hot (temperature). Great service too!
Great food with last minute reservations. Although the food was always good, it has become even better in the last six months, for whatever reason, becoming one of our regular monthly visits.
Service was quick & friendly. The waiter was friendly & attentive as well as the other servers.
Great food. Would recommend it.
Excellent neighborhood restaurant. We went for my daughters burthday, they even came out with cake and sang Happy Burthday
Good, not great on all levels. Food not very flavorful for Italian. Quick service, but feel the pressure to eat and order quickly even though there were plenty of empty tables. Not a relaxing vibe to have coffee and/or dessert after dinner.
Three of us had dinner on a Saturday night. It was really busy. We live in the neighborhood and have been to the restaurant for years. Normally on a weekday night, you can walk in and get a table. I do recommend making a reservation on weekend days.
I love the petrale sole with lemon and butter sauce. The veal saltimbocca was also excellent.
Nice full menu...good pasta...too much dressing on my soggy salad...tiramisu was good if you like whipped cream which I do, rich and creamy.
My husband and I loved the non-fussy, homey Italian food. We also enjoyed the upbeat energy of the space.
Friendly, helpful staff. Been going for years. Can always depend on a good experience.
Starters: Bread with sauce is always great! We also had the butternut squash soup which was good and calamari which was lightly breaded that didn’t really stand out much in taste or quality. The sauce to dip it in was very tasty.
Main: We ordered the tortelloni, spaghetti calbrese and cannelloni. Every dish was perfect and very worth the price.
Dessert: For dessert we had tiramisu which tasted great for sweet tooth satisfaction. It didn’t have the strongest espresso taste but more chocolatey. Overall, the main dishes and the bread for starter were the group’s favorite.
The food was delicious, I had the leg of lamb and my wife had the pasta with scallops and they were superb. Fantastic taste and good size servings. Highly recommend it. The service could have been better, our waitress was having an off night but the food made up for it.
Our waitress was lovely. Although crowded it was enjoyable. Great food. Good neighborhood experience and right by the theater.
My husband and I were out for a date and dine here whenever we can, it is my favorite restaurant. We have never had a bad meal or bad service.
Went for Valentine's Day and had a delicious meal. Our waitress was wonderful and the food was delicious. I hd the pasta with tomatoes and garlic. My husband had the mushroom and oyster risotto. Both were delicious . Had a cappuccino at the end. All was wonderful. Very crowded, as it was Valentine's Day. The tables are quite close together, but still loved this restaurant.
Always a great choice never have left disappointed! Great unique dipping sauce with their bread always a favorite. And the rigatoni was to die for as well as they’re pasta portofino
Reserved dinner @. 6:30pm 2/7/18 for 3 people,on-site 6:20pm,we’re seated near the door table 61. Ordered Nebbiolo red ,beer for our guest. Start with ceasars salad, then main course Salmone Fantasia, tasted wonderful, chicken for my wife and our guest. We have been coming to this restaurant and always gets an outstanding service. Our server tonight was Lupita and keeps our glass of water filled and and asked if everything is alright. After dinner we had coffee and dessert. The dessert menu didn’t have what I like Affogato but Lupita says shell make it,I love it. My wife and guest had Tartuffo. Our server keeps our coffee cup filled until it was time to leave the place. What I like at Spiazzo is they don’t rush you at all as some establishment does and the staff are all friendly. Thank you Spiazzo will keep coming. Anyone craving for Italian food and Italian wine should go to Spiazzo. As we were about to leave our server says will see you again.
We dined recently at lunchtime when the dining room is much quieter than on weeknights/weekends. However, it must be getting popular as there were four other tables of diners there too. Frankly I suppose they have also discovered how hard it is to locate a nearby Italian restaurant that opens round the clock other than Spiazzo.
The food is actually alot better than in the past as the portions are a bit more to match the price point. Everything was freshly cooked and came out steaming hot: Spaghetti with (tiny) scallops and prawns as well as the minestrone soup and the ab fab fritti misti (i.e. fried baby shrimp, calamari pieces, and a few zucchini pieces).
Have to say that whilst our server was as friendly as always was also a bit ditzy (e.g. forgetful) but overall still great.
Very delicious meal. Minestrone was excellent, as was saltiboca. Bread was so-so.
Waiter was very personable and attentive. Liked the many offerings of 1/2 wine bottles.
Good value !
Negs: Restaurant is a bit cramped with tables very close to each other. Also the experience began clumsily as we were informed that we may have a 15 minute wait even though we had a reservation. Why take a reservation??? Fortunately the wait was just 1/2 that time and the many positives outweighed the initial negative.
A diverse menu affording something for everyone's taste buds. Reasonably priced and a true neighborhood gem.
Food is delicious, Fresh, and Consistent.
I eat there a lot, and I have not had a bad meal yet.
The wait Staff is Excellent, they know when to come over,
and to leave.
Great food and service. Nice neighborhood jem. I recommend. Made my daughter feel special for her 18th birthday.
Great service and really accommodating staff as we had a party of 17 for a party. It was tight but they did s great job making it work!
Food was good and pasta was spot on.
Weekend lunch menu far more extensive than week day menu. Excellent diverse menu selections with a nice selection of half bottle wines. Great value with large portions. We arrived late for our reservation. We did not allow enough time to find parking as parking can be difficult in West Portal. They honored our reservation and were gracious about our arriving late. Not noisy and it is easy to carry on a conversation.
Four of us went on the evening of New Years Day and it was really jumping. There was an excellent collection of specials and an interesting wine list. The quality of all our meals was excellent. Service was perhaps a bit slow, but totally understandable under the circumstances.
The restaurant was a great find and well beyond our group's expectation.
My opinion the Best Italian Food in San Francisco, you can forget North Beach!
The food was great, but the portions were small/middling. We had a reservation, but it took them at least 20 minutes to seat us. When they did seat us, we were squeezed between 2 other tables, which was not comfortable.
Excellent food and service. Nice location snd atmosphere. Will repeat.
This really is a great restaurant before a show. Great food at good prices, friendly, and FAST (which also makes it good for impatient children). Then you just hop on an L, M, or K and you are downtown in no time. MUCH better than eating downtown!
As always, Spiazzo is at the highest level of our Neighborhood Favorites list. The only hit tonight was a 3 on service, which was a night where our waitress was very busy, probably should have been a 4, which they usually earn.
Neighborhood favorite! Authentic Italian. Delicious confort food.
the lunch menu had a great selection. The salmon salad was wonderful.
We felt rushed the entire meal. It was obvious they wanted to turn the table and it was pretty awkward. In fact, it was so uncomfortable that my husband actually lied about still reading the dessert menu just so we could buy an extra 5 minutes of not having the waiter move us along. The food was fair, but prices a bit steep considering the neighborhood which consists of families.
Spiazzo is consistently a great local spot. The Food an service are top notch. Lots of changing specials. Friendly wait staff and owner keeps an eye on things to be sure quality stays high.
