Sperata Ratings and Reviews
The food was very good. We had the escargot as an appetizer, I had the rack of Lamb as my entree and my friend had the steak and scallops. It was all delicious! Our bartender, Oliver, served up excellent martinis and our sever, Michael, took good care of us. Although, his attentiveness did slow down as the evening got a little busier. It seemed he was the only waiter for the entire restaurant. But that only consisted of 5-6 tables. However, Oliver filled in as needed.
The one thing that I did not like was Michael reminding us of the "total" bill when we were paying. We had used a $15 of coupon and he made sure to remind us of the "total" , I'm assuming so we so we tipped accordingly. I always tip on the total amount, however I found it offensive for him to allude to that. Really, the service should be the same regardless if you spend $110 or $125.
Otherwise, it was a great experience and I would eat there again.
Great New Years Eve dinner. We had great service-Charlie took very good care of us and made us feel we were VIPs even on a crowded holiday night. Drinks were good, wine selection was fine. Three of us had the filets and they were done to perfection. Salads were excellent and big enough to share which we like to do. We didn’t have desert as we had plans for that. Great all around time and will be back!!
Limited menu for New Year's Eve, but the food was excellent and the choices made it easy to find something on the menu to everyone's liking. Very noisy, but the restaurant is small and every table was taken. Very cute and quaint restaurant. I would recommend it. I will go back when there is a full menu. The service was a little disorganized even with a large number of wait staff. Noted their was no bartender and each waiter made their own drinks.
After a previous disastrous dinner here,(with no compensation), this dinner was quite an improvement. Sperata needs to hire a full time bartender! We waited 40 minutes before we ever even got our salad. The servers were running as fast as they could but were making drinks too and the restaurant was packed!
The food is quite good but we aren’t sure it’s worth our drive anymore.
Our server actually remembered our previous totally botched dinner, yet still offered no compensation.. not even a free dessert or a glass of wine. Sadly, this is probably our last trip to Sperata. The quality and service just isn’t worth the drive nor the $200 plus price tag.
Our server Michael was awesome!! Attentive but not overboard. The beet and goat cheese salad was phenomenal. Our entrees were tasty. The atmosphere was beautiful. We’ll definitely come again when they have the whole menu. On New Year’s Eve they only offered 3 options for appetizers, salads and entrees and we were excited to try other items on the menu when we chose this restaurant. Oh-the cream brûlée was insanely good!!
This was the first time I had been in several years and it was just as wonderful as I remembered. I travel all over the country and I do quite a bit of fine dining for work. That being said, the dining experience at Sperata is as good as the best restaurant in any city in America.
The service is over the top. Our server was very attentive, without being obtrusive. The ambiance is warm and romantic with the live piano player, rich wood finishes, deep colors, and fresh flowers on the tables.. It has the French charm of a quaint New Orleans bistro mixed with the luxurious feel of one of New York's cozy little locals only kind of spots that specializing in showcasing the talents of their chef.
The food is outrageously good. The preparations are unique and performed to perfection. The portions are unusually large for this type of cuisine (which is a plus for me), and the prices are extremely reasonable for a meal of this quality. The menu is relatively small, but in a very good way - it allows each dist to be exceptional without trying to do too many things at once in the kitchen. There is at least one dish for all of your normal protein types (chicken, beef, lamb, pork, fish, & shellfish), but the preparations are not necessarily something that you see every day. The chef has a unique style that I personally find delicious.
I was so impressed. We have been in the Buford area for years, but never tried. Our anniversary is normally to the one of the Top 10 in Atlanta, this year, our 19th, since it was a Tuesday (work night) we went local. Wow. We decided on the 5 course with the wine pairing. Such creative flavors. Sorry Atlanta, but you have nothing on Buford's Sperata. Duck/egg/spinach/cranberry... who would of thought?
One note on the 5 courses, I did the 5 with my wife doing the 3. We split the chop and the dessert, and still had a nearly whole Filet and vegetables the next day. If you both do the 5, be sure to skip lunch ... and maybe breakfast :-)
Consistently delivers fantastic food with impeccable service! We have dined at Sperata for years and have never had anything but exceptional experiences at Sperata. It's the best dining in downtown Buford! Perfect for special occasions, date night, couples out together, or large gatherings. Highly recommend everything on their menu!
I wanted to treat my husband to a birthday dinner at a restaurant we had not tried. A friend recommended Sperato's and we were very pleased. The food, service, atmosphere and lovely piano music was all wonderful. We also enjoyed a special birthday dessert that was provided.
We will definitely return and recommend to others.
Very tasty appetizers , and really appreciated our waitress steering away from the oysters which arrived to them less than fresh. Service was great, good cuts of meat and generous portions. Lamb chops were tender and juicy if a bit salty. All in all a good experience made optimal by the friendliness of the staff
Generous portions, good quality food. I had the Bourbon Pecan Salmon and my husband had the Atlantic Cod Oscar. Both were good but salmon the best of the two dishes. Waiter was very professional and accommodating. Will go back for special occasions since it was very pricey.
Seating was prompt. Atmosphere was very good with a piano playing quietly in the background (did not interfere with conversations as some do). The menu and specials were explained very well. We had a vegetarian curry that the chef prepared and he spiced it up a bit at our request. It was very good. We also had a fried green tomatoes and a fantastic spinach salad for an appetizer. My dish was filet Diane cooked medium and it was perfect. Very good dining experience, I would recommend to everyone.
We loved Sperata. First discovered it a few months ago and thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience. We have eaten at many great restaurants around the world and I think the food at Sperata compares favorably with some of the best. We will definitely be back again and again.
From the moment we walked in the door til the time we left Mike and crew made Sperata a delight. The food was first rate the service was excellent. We never felt rushed or that we were somehow a bother to the staff. In short, for those who remember fine dining from a more elegant time I can highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.
We celebrated our one year anniversary, the atmosphere was nice, the service was excellent and I would rank the food at the top. The piano player even played our song, which was a lovely touch. Very great night and excellent food. I would recommend this restaurant for special occasions. Well worth it, we plan on coming again soon.
It was a easy to find location. Restaurant is pretty. Food was good but a very limited menu, maybe some pasta dishes are necessary. As a chocolate lover I ordered as dessert the cake but first it arrived not as warm as it should be and also with a bitter taste. The pianist is an excellent interpreter and a kind friendly guy
