Sperata Ratings and Reviews
Generous portions, good quality food. I had the Bourbon Pecan Salmon and my husband had the Atlantic Cod Oscar. Both were good but salmon the best of the two dishes. Waiter was very professional and accommodating. Will go back for special occasions since it was very pricey.
Seating was prompt. Atmosphere was very good with a piano playing quietly in the background (did not interfere with conversations as some do). The menu and specials were explained very well. We had a vegetarian curry that the chef prepared and he spiced it up a bit at our request. It was very good. We also had a fried green tomatoes and a fantastic spinach salad for an appetizer. My dish was filet Diane cooked medium and it was perfect. Very good dining experience, I would recommend to everyone.
We loved Sperata. First discovered it a few months ago and thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience. We have eaten at many great restaurants around the world and I think the food at Sperata compares favorably with some of the best. We will definitely be back again and again.
From the moment we walked in the door til the time we left Mike and crew made Sperata a delight. The food was first rate the service was excellent. We never felt rushed or that we were somehow a bother to the staff. In short, for those who remember fine dining from a more elegant time I can highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.
We celebrated our one year anniversary, the atmosphere was nice, the service was excellent and I would rank the food at the top. The piano player even played our song, which was a lovely touch. Very great night and excellent food. I would recommend this restaurant for special occasions. Well worth it, we plan on coming again soon.
It was a easy to find location. Restaurant is pretty. Food was good but a very limited menu, maybe some pasta dishes are necessary. As a chocolate lover I ordered as dessert the cake but first it arrived not as warm as it should be and also with a bitter taste. The pianist is an excellent interpreter and a kind friendly guy
I came here for a birthday dinner with my girlfriend and it was excellent. Server was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered the prosciutto antipasto appetizer and it was phenomenal. The fresh mozzarella and vinaigrette were refreshing and light. We then had the soup and a vidalia onion tart. The soup was a tomato basil and was served at the perfect temperature and was just the right consistency. The tart was flaky and flavorful. The pacing of the meal was well done as we did not feel rushed or that it was taking too long. We ordered a bottle of wine, but the server informed us they were out and recommended a different bottle which was not on the menu. It ended up costing less than the one we had selected, but was very well-balanced. Our entrees were a filet and a beef Wellington. The meat was cooked evenly and exactly to the temperature we ordered. Tender cuts of meat and good portion sizes allowed us to take them home and enjoy them a second time. The chefs sides were Brussel sprouts and cauliflower and were well seasoned. We had the creme brulee for dessert and it was by far the best we had ever had. The custard was light and the carmelizing on top was decadent. It was the perfect pallet cleanser for an excellent meal.
Food was very good
Presentation was good but not exceptional
Service was excellent
Nice environment overall
Pianist was very good but dressed like he just got back from the Home Depot
That downtown area gives you a kind of blighted rust belt feel with lots of locals In Hawaiian shirts
The food was exceptional – everything we had tasted amazing! We started with an appetizer of escargot, then followed with a cold cucumber soup that was delicious and refreshing. Our entrées were perfectly done, and Michael provided on the spot service all night long..
Best part of the evening was the live piano music -- played non-stop for the entire time we were there (nearly 2 hours). Service was condescending and negligent. Cesar Salad was swimming in dressing. Other food was pretty good, but did not live up to the restaurant's reputation. A pity -- this could have been a splendid evening -- instead it was just OK and the music saved the dinner date.
When asked once at this restaurant if it was a special occasion I responded, "Yes, it's Friday." My meal this last Saturday, July 15, was my "special occasion" birthday dinner. We started with the peanut encrusted shrimp as an appetizer, had the Picasso Salad for starters, the Steak Diane for our entree, and finished with coffee. It was one of the best meals I have ever had. A year ago on for my birthday meal I had the pleasure of eating at Jules Verne, a Michelin star restaurant in the Eiffel Tower in Paris, my meal at Sperata was better. My thanks to our waiter, Oliver, for the exceptional service, and my compliments to Chef Chris Hope for an exceptional meal.
We were pleased to see Oliver again who we remembered from our first Sperata experience, and then Michael took great care of us. Both were exceptional, as was the rest of the team, in terms of taking care of us. The food was once again outstanding. We had the fried green tomatoes appetizer, Sperata signature salad, duck entree and lemon tart. All were incredible and it was the perfect spot for our anniversary! We vowed not to wait a full year to come back, and to bring others with us to share this gem.
Sperata was wonderful! Our waiter was professional and attentive. The owner of the restaurant welcomed us when we first sat down. There was a piano player that was fantastic. We opened with the Vidalia onion tart. It was delicious. Our entrees were excellent. I had the Steak Diane and it was one of the best steaks I've ever had. It was the perfect place for a date. We will definitely go to Sperata again.
What a fabulous dinner experience!! The food was excellent from the prosciutto starter to the entrees of duck and saltimbocca, to the finishing chocolate dessert! Our waiter was very attentive, yet not hovering at all. He was perfect, which allowed our date plenty of conversation time to get to know each other. I was surprised it wasn't busier, as this is a hidden gem!!
This is a small, romantic restaurant. Service was really wonderful. The waiter was attentive but not overbearing. The food was cooked perfectly and delicious. Portion sizes were quite large for this type of restaurant so it was very filling. We went for our anniversary and will definitely be back.
We have been going to Sperata for years. It's always one of our top restaurants from which to choose when looking for a special place to dine or celebrate. Sometimes it's just the two of us, sometimes we bring our two grown kids. This time it was just the two of us, and we had another perfect meal. We were fortunate enough to have Oliver as our waiter again, whose service was as impeccable as usual. The food is always first rate, from appetizers to main course, to an after dinner brandy. Saturday night there was live piano music by a former army band member, making the night even more enjoyable. The evening couldn't have been more perfect. Thanks as always. Cheers! Nancy & Ed
This was our first time and it was just amazing. The quality of food was on point, the servers did great, and I really enjoyed the ambiance with the piano player. You can tell that they take pride in the food and service they provide. Highly recommend for people who enjoy quality meat that is paired up with the right sauce and side dish to bring out the flavors the chef intended. Job well done.
