Terrific family dinner with both sides in-town for new baby!
Speisekammer has been a consistent restaurant for drinks and food. The outside beer garden is a great place for meeting after work with friends and coworkers. The addition of live music is really nice. Good food with good friends.
45 min wait. Food came out cold. Absolutely no apologies. Offered a dessert.....like I want a dessert when I haven't eaten a thing all day and everything else was horrible?
Friendly, lively people
Love the live music. Mitch Polzak is great and the clientele is wonderful
Always have a great time there.
The food is authentic German and delicious. My favorites are the fresh salads
Long wait for service. Incorrect meal delivered to table. We went to hear music but could hear little over room noise.
One of our long-time favs, Speisekammer is THE German restaurant to dine at if you love traditional German food. It is far better than Brotzeit Lokal and the portions more generous than Gaumenkitzel (a place that is very good, but not the 'gemutlich' bargain Speisekammer is). Their schnitzel is marvelous, the potato pancakes divine (housemade applesauce; get the optional sour cream). Very happy to see the pickled veggie salad and the sauerkraut are back to being properly done: savory and tangy without the excessive harsh vinegar that was happening for a while. Sausages are excellent here, as is the roast pork dish. Service is top-notch here; this place should give lessons to newer flashy bistros who can't time a meal or even clear a table properly. Highly recommended; lunch is quieter but definitely make reservations for dinner when locals arrive after work. But don't even try to squeeze yourself in during World Cup finals, LOL!
If you know anything about German food and the culture that surrounds a meal this place has it. Authentic flavors of braten, speiszle and schnitzel. All need to be eaten with a German kolsch, lager, pilsner, hefeweisen or a dark ale; my favorite. Delicious dark rye slices came to the table as well. There was a birthday party with us in the back room which had sound bouncing off all walls at once. Although we had to pause our conversation a couple times, it wasnt a bother. Thats how i experienced pub life in small towns in Bavaria. I'll be returning sooner than later. BTW, later on there was live music in the front room which wasn't German. But i do know that Europeans appreciated R&B/Jazz much sooner than popular music did in the US.
Great place with good food and s friendly staff. Always a good stop for a get together with friends
Very good food, drinks and desserts. Excellent prompt service. Thanks.
EXCELLENT FOOD AND EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE..RICK AT THE BAR MAKES FANTASTIC COCKTAILS !
We enjoy Speisekammer once or twice a month (sometimes more) and the experience never disappoints. From the welcoming greeters and reservation management, friendly servers, attentive waitstaff, skilled kitchen and bar artists — everything is excellent and we always leave happy. Thank you for always showing us a good time!! Prost!!
Great place to have dinner!
Wiener Schnitzel (veal), apple strudel, ohh...
The German cuisine is wonderful. We went for the live music and heard a terrific band called the Luxomatics. Service was slow, but the restaurant was VERY crowded to capacity inside and out. The food was so good that we didn’t mind waiting. A very enjoyable dinner. While we were there a videographer from CHECK PLEASE BAY AREA was shooting video for an up coming show.
Have enjoyed many REAL GERMAN dinners over the years. And will do so again. I always have a reservation, can get busy.
I've been to Speisekammer quite a few times. The food was not as good as usual, BUT the live music absolutely made up for it!
We enjoy coming here because we miss Germany. We have been here several times. The schnitzel was not as good as in times past. (Underdone breading), and I suspect the potatoes are instant. But we'll be back I'm sure.
Great food and draft beers. I like this restaurant and we will be back.
Authentic, great ambiance (sat next to fireplace), great food and excellent beer with great beer serving practices, e.g. proper serving temperature and glasses/mugs! I’ve been here several times and highly recommend it!
Great authentic German food and beers. Fun time !
Best potato pancakes ever!! Authentic German food. One of our favorite spots.
Went with just me and my 3 kids. We all had a great time. Food & service were fantastic!
Great food, drink and atmosphere
This was our third visit, the food was excellent as usual. Good variety of german beers on tap. Service was a little slower than we would have liked, but we enjoyed the company at atmosphere. Despite looking small on the outside, there are three separate dining rooms to break up the crowd of people. Excellent German cuisine. We'll be back, for certain.
One of the few places in the bay area to get German food. Outdoor seating, just like in Germany.
Authentic, terrific food, and generous portions. Mixed salad is an excellent accompaniment to various dishes. Been there many times, never disappointed!
Very good service. Thank you😃😃

Good German food
The food never disappoints here! The appetizers are amazing, the food is authentic and delicous... and plentiful!
It's our first time listening live music here. We enjoyed it.
Happy environment and good food. Very friendly service. It's a great place for adult gathering with great beer. It was a nice family dinner but the kid wasn't being patient.
Sadly, they were out of pretzels, but the spätzle and schnitzel we had were fabulous!
Our table was ready for us when we arrived. The food was outstanding, as always. Our server was very good. Checked on us often, but not intrusive. This is one of our favorite family go to places.
My friend invited me the first time I came for the live music, which I really enjoyed.
I invited my two friends, because they are fans and we ordered light meals, which were
served with friendly servers.
We got a table reservation on line so it was ready when we got there.
We had a great time.
My husband and I enjoy trying any German restaurant we come across. Based on reviews, we were very excited to try Speisekammer!
We started with their Potato Pancakes and Pretzel with Beer Cheese dipping sauce. Both were enjoyable but definitely not the best we’ve eaten in our experiences at other German establishments. The Potato Pancakes were light and crispy but with little seasoning/flavor. The Pretzel was very chewy in a stale sort of way...however the delicious Beer Cheese dipping sauce masked that nicely.
For our entrees, my husband enjoyed the Sauerbraten. It was a decent amount of meat with a luscious gravy and classic sides of Spatzle and Red Cabbage. Both sides were mediocre. I ordered their baked Spatzle (think of a German take on Mac N Cheese.) They used rich and decadent cheeses and came nice and hot. I was given the option to add ham or bacon for an additional charge and I chose ham. Nice and necessary addition! Also for an additional charge, you can have their side salad - I highly recommend AGAINST this...chopped lettuce, pickled veggies all drenched in what tasted like the pickling vinegar. Waste.
Drinks. Although they had many options for many patrons (children, non alcoholic, wine, beer, cocktails...) we were so disappointed in the small amount of German beers on tap. Needless to say, my husband had soda and I tried a nice light Austrian wight wine.
Staff. Very friendly, attentive and informative! They gave us a beautiful cozy table at their romantic fireplace. Beautiful!
Wonderful good again tonight. Both had Bratwurst dinner with sauerkraut and mashers.
We came here for a weeknight dinner and had a great time! Excellent food and drinks, and friendly, attentive service.
We love this restaurant....have never had a bad meal...great neighborhood gem.
It was great!! Food was outstanding, the service perfect!! I highly recommend this place!!
