Fav restaurant in Los Angeles! Great service, food, ambiance and energy!
Very nice as usual
Amazing as always from start to finish. LOVE this place in every aspect. Service is impeccable along with the food. Everyone is amazing!
Deceiving if you show up before 5:30, as full menu before then isn't available. Still, no warning when you make the reservation.
Super weird experience, I think that sentiment was shared by most people dining around us. Server had no interest in being there, and made that perfectly clear. Especially frustrating when it’s an auto grat. We’ll be back, only because it’s in the neighborhood, but please do better.
Love this restaurant! Within walking distance from son’s apartment. Great food, and ambience. Tried something new this time had skirt steak. Very well prepared and tasty. My son ordered the snapper and it was riddled with tiny bones. He said was still good but had to pick out bones before eating it. Peach tart with ice cream was delicious!
Restaurants and automatic 18% service fee and if overjoyed with service, asked to leave more for server. I’m not a fan of this additional charge I’d rather leave tip based on my experience. All in all it was a great evening snd as always great food.
The food was absolutely horrible and uneditable. My husband and I ordered the octopus for an appetizer. The ingredients used to accompany the octopus such as salami and potato made no sense in the dish. Octopus was over cooked as well.
We then ordered two pastas which took a hour to be served to us. My husband had to ask a waiter where our meal was. Once the two pastas were brought to our table you can tell they were sitting at the kitchen counter for a while. My pasta was rock hard due to the cheese setting and the taste was disgusting. We ended up eating my husbands pasta because we were starving at that point (which was nothing special).
The ambiance of the restaurant was probably the only aspect that was nice. Otherwise I wouldn’t go back at all. It was pricy and not worth it.
Terrible service! Waiter didn’t check on us when our 2nd course took almost an hour to come out! Then comes over 3 times once we ask for boxes and check from busser bc we need to leave and tells us all of the tip over the 18% included service charge goes directly to him…would have loved to tip the rest of the staff more vs tip the terrible waiter!
Love the servers and managers feels like home when I eat there
Great dinner place
Great food, ambiance and service. However, the meal servings and wine pours were a bit small and the overall meal was pricey. Two dishes, one appetizer, one dessert and two glasses of wine came out to $175 including tax, a "service fee" and tip.
Delicious authentic Italian food
Waitress was attentive and polite. Food was delicious
Had the lamb gnocchi, the black and white garlic spaghettini, and a pizza. The pizza was wonderful, the gnocchi was excellent, and the spaghettini was pretty good (not as special). They also have a pretty affordable wine list, and a lovely patio and restaurant space. Service was a little slow.
Overpaid for shrimp ravioli that had no(?) shrimp in it. I expected shrimp, like are least 1 whole piece of shrimp. instead got ravioli, which was delicious, with maybe a small shreds of shrimp. If I had put all of the “pieces” of shrimp that I could find, it wouldn’t have equaled 1/6 of a shrimp.
Service was lax. Relaxed is fine but nonexistent is no good. Ordered a second glass of wine when Hors-d’oeuvres were served. It never came but we weren’t disappointed but then the waitress delivered it when we were almost through with our meal. It did take about 15 minutes between courses so that was a long while later.
Overpriced & underserved.
Loved the Prusciutto Pizza and our server Preston .
As many others have stated - food is excellent, price is high, service is poor. All of our meals came out at different times, forcing us to wait while food got cold. Additionally, Waiter said antipasta would come out same time as entrees as I ordered it as part of my personal meal, but when it came out super early, he made an excuse about timing anyway, saying that because it was an appetizer it was always going to come out earlier, which contradicted our earlier conversation about it
Grabbed an early dinner off the happy hour menu, delicious!
What a gem of a place. Delicious dishes all over the menu!
Great menu, offering classics as well as originals such a wonderful grilled duck breast.
Great food. A bit pricey but hey its LA. Outside courtyard dining great for a cool evening. Lexi the server was outstanding.
Generally love this place but the outdoor seating right at the corner is loud, exposed to the people on sidewalk and a direct wind tunnel.
The food is extraordinary. The service was perfect. The outdoor seating is beautiful.
Our Waiter came by literally one time to take our order and never returned, we were headed to the airport and made a reservation at this restaurant and loved it up until it was time to get serviced. We ran out of water throughout our whole lunch and no one ever checked in on our party. We had to literally stop her while she was walking, after finishing our meal to have our check brought to the table. We saw after that a 18% service charge had been applied to our 3 person check which we would have had absolutely no problem with but for “order off of the counter” service I was super annoyed. The restaurant itself was beautiful and great atmosphere but this was just definitely a horrible experience.
Great food and ambiance
We realized there was a discrepancy between the itemized check and the final check - about $18 - after we had left
We had to return to inquire. We waited quite a while outside until our server finally told us that the original amount would be charged to my credit card rather than the greater one. Still, we had calculated a tip based on the larger sum. And we had waited for a very, very long time to be served our food. When I had tried to cancel a salad that still hadn’t arrived, I was convinced to accept it. I did, out of courtesy. The server was very nice.
But, given the mistake that occurred, at the least, Spartina should have been gracious enough to remove an item from the check or to offer sort of gift card provided.
Disappointed in Spartina. Also, don’t overlook the fact that 18 percent service charge is already on the bill when it comes to you.
Pastas were mediocre at best. one dish had no flavor. The other one was too salty and soggy. I never had a meal that completely ruined my appetite after my first few bites of the pasta. This is the one. Our server had only 3 brief interaction with us and was brazen enough to ask for additional tips after a 18% automatic tip on the bill. This restaurant is completely over hyped.
Great food, service and ambiance.
Great food. Service lacked a bit and there was a mix up with our meal and 2nd drinks never arrived. Our server was not getting much support or help from the owner/manager. Tried to get his attention a few times. Another server and the runner helped us instead of the management. Our server was clearly weeded and being left to sink. I will chalk it up to bad timing. Our server was clearly stressed. Would 100% return, but would be wary if it repeated.
Simply put, everything we’ve tried has been delicious!
Service was beyond bad. We specifically asked that our three courses be delivered separately as we had observed other tables with several courses on their tables, all courses arrived at the same time anyway. Then the server disappeared for the entire meal and we had to try to catch a different server to get wine for the meal. She was more attentive than our server.
They also add the gratuity (18%) for two tops and do not inform you.
Food was ok, portions are large and staff will definitely allow you to over-order.
Will not be returning after this last experience
The food was so delicious, and the service was amazing. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the peach tart as it was cold and didn't taste fresh. Everything else was delicious! I'll definitely be back.
Nice place. Nice service.
Would be great if you change the heaters for those fire cones they make a cozy atmosphere. And also some light music on the outdoor patio would complete the experience.
Beside that we loved Spartina.
The food is outstanding! Everyone enjoys their food, pasta, pizza and personally my skirt steak was perfectly done. Can't wait to go back and try something else!
This restaurant is by far one of the best on Melrose. The food is 5-star worthy for affordable prices. The outdoor patio, that is corralled by plants and shrubbery, makes for the perfect ambiance. Any dish is worth the order! It is right on Melrose so there is a small amount of noise, but the privacy wall and plants make it almost unrecognizable. The staff were also extremely nice and accommodating.
A delightful experience on all fronts. Will be back
Service started off great then it seemed to fall off from there. There were large gaps between our courses with no one checking on us.
Love the outdoor patio!
The shrimp Rigatoni with pesto was a hit. Creamy but not too much with a great bite on the pasta. Definitely a must try. Service was on point as well with tentative staff.
The hostess was great and hospitable but the table service was really lacking. Once we ordered we never saw our waiter again. They were adamant about ordering more items to raise the price of their 18% gratuity. Our pizza came almost an hour after we ordered it which is unusual for stone-oven pizza.
Excellent ambiance, good food. Will be back for more.
