What Insiders Are Saying
With Spartina, Melrose finally got what it always needed. A neighborhood pasta joint that never takes itself too seriously.
Love this place, came 2x in one week! Would recommend the pork ragu, we got it 3 times!
Loved it. Great atmosphere, delicious food and excellent service.
Great ambiance and the service was really nice.
Wonderful meal and service - imaginative menu, delicious food, beautiful space, highly recommend!
Service was sort of rude. Granted, we went on Valentine's, so they were serving a lot of people, but our guy clearly didn't want to be there and I felt like he was rolling his eyes at us the entire time. We asked if they had any bread, which isn't that crazy a request at an Italian restaurant, but he made it seem like we asked for his first born. He eventually scrounged up some thick-cut toasted slices, told us not to advertise that he did to other tables, and charged us $6 for it. Whatever. Food was greasy but fine.
Best happy hour I’ve found in LA. Delicious pizza and house wine.
Went for a brunch for a birthday and thought the food was excellent and prepared well. Just thought the place was a bit too noisy for us and the crowd was a younger hip crowd. We are an older hip crowd.
Weekends noisy beyond belief...eat I side to avoid exhaust fumes from street
Motorcycles particularly disgusting
Melrose now nearly as trashy as Hollywood Blvd.
Service wasn't great here, but there were only two people serving at lunch on a Sunday and they struggled to keep up. Extensive brunch menu but of the 10 or so dishes we had between the group I would only recommend a few of the apps - the sprouts/burrata dish being the pick of them. Bottomless mimosas were heavy on the juice and we had to hunt down our server for refills. On balance, dont regret trying it - but there are so many better places for brunch in the area.
The food is FANTASTIC. The staff is WONDERFUL. Outdoor seating is lovely. Indoor seating is great. BUT WHY DOES THE MUSIC HAVE TO BE SO FREAKIN' LOUD. We had Sunday brunch, 11:30, and by the end of our meal we had to yell to hear each other. The space is loud on its own, when filled with people. I don't need shrieking songstresses and techno din drowning me in noise.
Dined at Spartina for happy hour and dinner Monday night with my girlfriend. Drinks, Pizza, and Dessert all very good. Service was spectacular. Manager came over to check on us within ten minutes of sitting down since we were seated outside and it was slightly cold outside. He held a conversation with us, gave us travel tips since we were new to the area, and made us feel incredibly welcome. Very grateful for his hospitality. Will recommened to anyone and everyone. Go Pats.
Our server wasn’t very attentive and the food, while being good, wasn’t anything that special for the price. We ordered one of the Benedict’s, a pasta, pizza and the beef hash. We also ordered the broccolini as an appetizer and that was the best tasting dish, hands down.
Everything was amazing! Ladies night dinner before heading out for some cocktails nearby. We had pizza as an app and each tried a different pasta dish all were amazing! The staff was super attentive with refills coming quickly and amazing affogato to end the the great meal. Will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone!
Great ambience, great crowd, and a good Bottomless Mimosa (or Aperol) deal for $21!
Went for a birthday brunch, just two of us, and had the most wonderful experience. The staff was so genuinely friendly and great with suggestions. Not to mention every dish we ordered was right on the money with flavor and uniqueness.
Service was great! Food was delicious...what more could one want?
Very good Sunday brunch. Extremely slow service, albeit friendly. Perhaps just understaffed.
They did ask us to move to a smaller adjacent table so they could seat a large party for NY’s Eve. A little inconvenient.
They could have offered free dessert or something.
Only one server was working outside and the patio was packed. The hostess wasn’t really helping her at all. Drinks and food took forever and a day. Their computer systems to close out separate checks doesn’t work so while the mimosas were good, place was cute I don’t think I would go there again
Food was generally good. Trenette was too soft and not al dente. Service weird because we had 2 servers coming to our table?
Great pasta in a beautiful setting
Solid, solid spot. Awesome food - always a pleasure to dine there.
I love this place I’m never disappointed. All the food is amazing. Take my money!!!
Wonderful service. Food was excellent if a little pricey but staff from top to bottom was attentive and service was fast. Will be back again.
Second time dining at Spartina and it's a great place with lots of character. Staff is friendly and attentive. Food was outstanding. Try the Carbonara.
Ambience was wonderful and staff was friendly. Not sure if it was an off day in the kitchen, but I had to send my eggs back three times and finally gave up, after repeatedly asking for my eggs to be fried hard, and receiving them back over easy.
We have been to Spartina a few times and the food is always top notch and reasonably priced! It’s one of the best Italian restaurants in Los Angeles in my view.
We have been to Spartina several times now and the food and service have been top notch every single time (something even the best restaurants struggle with). The bartenders use fresh fruit juices in their cocktails and the pastas are made by hand at the restaurant. Huge selection of small plates with so many great and tasty options, including many vegetable dishes. Perfect place for a casual, but super delicious meal. Highly recommended!
We went to L.A. to visit our oldest and see a college football game. Spartina was on our "try list" from watching the chef on a Food Network show. It was fantastic! The people were wonderful. We were greeted by the host-partner in the restaurant. We were seated outside with space from other diners in a comfortable setting. The food was well thought out and delicious. The romana (salmon, grilled polenta, hollandaise and two soft boiled eggs) was amazing! It was also offered two different ways instead of the salmon. The beef belly hash, so simple, so good. I had asked about two different breakfast entrees. I ordered one and surprisingly the other was brought to the table, gratis. The server respected our privacy but stayed enough to listen. The partner came out and gave his time and attention as only an interested owner would do. Yes, there are bottomless mimosas, because the bartender served our table. I was driving and drank iced tea so this review is 100%.
When booking on open table, the app specifies which seating is available for your reservation (outdoor, standard, bar) and then you choose which you want. When checking in at the restaurant, I was told that they don't guarantee your choice. I booked standard on a cold night and was told only outdoor was available. It's the old bait and switch. Definitely would not have gone had I known this.
Great place for first date, even comped a dish I ordered mistakenly because my date didn't eat pork. Great food and vibe.
Loves the food. The octopus was probably the best thing on the menu and the hardest one to pull off.
Place is loud , but worthy
My 2nd time here. Great food and friendly service. The tables are a little too close to each other for my taste.
The burrata ravioli was amazing I’ll be returning
Food was very delicious, service was good and the drinks were very well made. I loved the ambience and the whole experience was fun. I am glad we went on a monday for the pasta specials, it can add up.
It’s my favorite local restaurant! Food & service GREAT!
Food was okay. There were out of a few key brunch ingredients the day we visited.
The food was good, but definitely not worth the high prices. Service was very slow, despite the restaurant being almost empty.
Fun low key yet high quality food!!
Great food in a great seating!
