We visited on a special occasion but didn't realize there was a set menu and there wasn't alternatives. Being our first time visiting, I based it on reviews previously read. It's a small place with quite a few people on the floor. The place wasn't half full and we finished at the peak of dinner time. Not sure if this is usually the case but at least the noise level was okay. The place has an old flavour but spruced up for hipster feel. It's a coffee shop by day and bistro by night. The 4 course meal consisted of two starting vegetable dishes, a main and a dessert. While the food was okay, it didn't jump out at us for any special reason. It was normal. Considering the price per person, we couldn't justify the meal. It came to over $100 after tips and we didn't order drinks. Perhaps, on regular days, ordering a la carte it's a different story. The ambience is okay. At least, the service was decent.

I had brunch there with my kids and thought it would be a different place to go for Valentine's Day with my husband. We don't like to go out to fancy restaurants and spend a ton on a meal, but we do enjoy great food. They didn't disappoint. It was a four course set menu for $45. Everything was well presented, great tasting and original. Decent wine is only $8 per glass. We were there early enough that there was a little bit of the 'coffee shop' crowd left which made it a bit noisy initially, but it go quieter after that. A nice place to stop in for a coffee in the morning and drinks and small plates in the afternoon. Will totally be back.

Spade's Dine Out Vancouver menu, although limited in it's variety, was very generous. Salad (endive, blackberry and grilled Halloumi), appetizer (grilled cauliflower), main course (paparadella and meatballs or eggplant in a light cream sauce)and dessert (chocolate cake) with a glass of Prosecco, all for $30 per person. My friend had the vegetarian main and I had the meat option which we both devoured. Spade is a coffee shop by day and restaurant by night. The room still had the feel of a coffee shop - more effort is needed to transition between the two services and find a way to creatively create a cozy restaurant ambiance. The service was attentive and friendly. I would definitely go again during Dine Out as this is one of the best values I have come across for this event, both this year and in years past.

A good choice for Dine Out and good value. Seamless service and the prosecco was a great touch.

A good not great meal. The pappardelle was the best dish we had between the 2 of us. The chocolate cake was nice too. The gnocchi in squid ink was strangely sweet. Everything else was reasonable but not good enough for a return visit. Staff were lovely & attentive. Didn't bring all the food at once so we were able to enjoy one dish at a time without others going cold which we appreciated. The room itself would be nicer in the spring/summer - didn't feel cozy enough for a rainy night in Vancouver.

I was coming from the burbs to meet a friend who was downtown, so was a perfect middle meeting point and easy to get to using sky train! The room is clean and simple, yet casually elegant. Their menu is perfect for sharing so we got to try a number of different items, like warm olives, gnocchi in squid ink sauce, meat balls (my favourite item), among other tasty bites. All the dished were packed with flavour and the server was passionate and knowledgeable. The super-friendly owner was there as well and kept checking in with us. The Organic Italian red wine was a very big, jammy with a long finish that was warming on a winter’s night! I would recommend Spade to anyone looking for a fantastic food adventure. Try the espresso martini with the chocolate cake for a fantastic finish to your meal!

7 of us needed a place for a pre-theatre dinner. Spade fit the bill perfectly as we were able to sample almost all the small plates on the menu. There was enough to share of each dish (except the meatballs only come 2/order so we ordered one more). I think the biggest testament is if I'd go back and the answer is a definite yes!
