Sozo Sushi brings the taste of Japan to Texas. One of the first things guests will notice when they arrive is the beautiful and elegant setting and decor. Intimate lighting illuminates to contemporary furniture and place settings, and large windows allow guests to look out over the city skyline. The real treat comes when they start to look at the sushi, sashimi and entrees that Sozo Sushi has to offer.
Some of Sozo Sushi's most popular dishes include the chicken teriyaki, sesame chicken, katsu curry and katsu don. You can enjoy a variety of sushi options as well, including unagi, uni and tuna.
Very nice, romantic ambiance. Good was fabulous. Place was beautiful.
Sushi was good, ambiance was great, service was great, nothing to complain about. There is some balcony seating which would have been very nice to sit in had it not been cold outside, inside seating is great though.
Customer service was great, sushi was good but on the higher price point for what it is.
3 times I went to the bar to collect our drink orders that the bartenders had made and had sat for 10 minutes. Very indifferent service.
Great food, good service - extremely fresh fish. Attention to customers requests didn’t occur; factors like this aid in return business!
This hidden gem is a fabulous little place! It’s tucked away upstairs, and I think it gets missed. The sushi and sashimi were wonderful. It’s interior is very well done, with an upscale modern design. Great parking in the garage, you will never have to walk through the rain (it was pouring the day we went). This will be my “go to” sushi place from now on! I can’t wait to sit out on their patio.
It took a while before a waiter came to our table when we were sat, and it was not busy. I had a dirty soy plate and then a dirty beer glass. So my initial impression was not good. The fried rice was really good along with the edamame, miso soup and the 2 rolls we ordered. So food and service definitely made up for our initial entry.
This is a very good Sushi Restaurant. It is authentic and reminds me of my many sushi restaurants in Japan (although it is less expensive than restaurants in Japan). Servers are great. Parking is easy. Sushi and Japanese fare is great.
Server was very attentive and nice .
Fish was fresh. Tempura batter on the denser side but flavored well. Happy hour items offer good value. Service was decent. Restaurant decor is nice, contemporary and airy. Great for everyday dining.
the food is really great does not get much better than what they have. Mother I law is full Japanese and know what it should taste like. She was very impressed.
Normal nothing exceptional.
The sushi here is pretty good. It is a little expensive considering it isn’t my favorite sushi in housing, but it is close to my office and good for a nicer lunch.
Decided to go there by the recommendations on Open Table. Was not disappointed. The fried calemari was some of the best I have ever had. Ask for recommendations not on the menu. A must try.
I was pleasantly surprised with Sozo and will go back. Also, looks like they have some great happy hour specials and a lovely outdoor patio that would be nice when not too hot.
Birthday Celebration was beautiful!
Surprised with Sunday All Day Happy Hour. Both food and alcohol. Try the lychee martini.
Very nice ambiance
loved the food, atmosphere, location, & service!
The food is always very good here. The bento box options are great at lunch, and the setting on the balcony is nice, particularly because there are so few balcony lunch settings in Uptown. The only drawback is something I've experienced on multiple occasions - slow or confused service. Sometimes a waiter will disappear for 15 minutes, or a waitress will disappear all together, after delivering our entree. When you only have an hour or so for lunch, not being able to get something to the table to enjoy one's meal (a tea refill, extra wasabe, more sushi) makes a big difference in satisfaction. But I keep coming back, because the food is really good, the prices are good and the setting is quite relaxing. Just count on some delays.
Unfortunately this outing didn’t go well. We have dined here many times and seems like they are heading south. Place was quiet for weekend. Server got our order wrong. Food quality was poor. Had to return multiple plates. On top of that they didn’t even have the curtesy to comp any of the awful food. Won’t go back there sorry.
Very nice place for sushi! Must try the shaggy dog roll. Sunday is all day happy hour.
Sushi:sashimi are fresh. One sushi roll with cucumber wrapping could have carved cucumbers thinner. But that may be too much to ask for at happy hour pricing. Nice courteous staff. Prices are good especially with happy hour. When restaurant got busy it took a little longer to get our check. But overall a nice visit to celebrate a family birthday.
Nothing special and prices are high
Allows an OpenTable Reservation AT the time kitchen closes so unless you get their early, you’ll have to rush your menu decision. Food flavor is sub-standard. Service ok. Ambiance is good.
I went here on a date, based on the location and reviews I expected more. The sushi was really mediocre and nothing was overwhelming. I’ve had better at that price point and would seek elsewhere when I want Sushi again.
Nice ambiance, great sushi. I guess when the restaurant isn’t busy, the service becomes lazy. We watched our drinks sit at the bar. Finally another server (possibly manager) brought our drinks to us, after we stared her down.....then placed our sushi order with her. From there, no communication as our original server finally came to ask us if we would like to order. wha???
Very tasty...but I always wonder....if they aren’t busy, how fresh is the fish!
Came for happy hour. Got a table on the patio bc the weather was great. Happy hour menu was great with a number of different options from 6 to 8 to 10 bucks. Our party of four ordered about 12 plates, a few cocktails/drinks and the total bill was about 120 which I thought was solid. Service was great as our waiter, James, made sure we took full advantage of the happy hour pricing. Check it out!
Fresh fish, good cocktails,
We went on happy hour, there was a list of happy hour dishes. We order the sushi combo, it was good and fresh. Finished with a green tea mochi desert. It was a perfect Sunday dinner with us. Love the view next to windows can see thru the traffic and tower outside.
50 min for a roll
Definitely a spot we will continue to visit. Awesome!
The sushi here was amazing. Extremely fresh!
A very good Sushi spot, good fish helpful wait staff given some food preferences (or deletions) from the rolls. All requests dealt with courteously. Wait staff can be a little unobservant in terms of checking back, but make up for it in speedy response when you do catch their eye. Absolutely great location for business near the Galleria (walkable from most of the hotels). Outdoor terrace available, good in certain weather conditions.
Excellent food and service. I definitely recommend.
Fantastic sushi/sashimi/entree / wine menus. First time for dinner after 20+lunch visits. Never disappoints. Will definitely be back!
First time we tried this relatively new sushi bar. Stuck to the happy hour menu. Not very impressed with the sushi or small plates. Service was good. Given choice of decent restaurants in houston we wouldn't go back.
Great place for a date, business lunch, or casual dining.
