Soyumi Asian Kitchen opened in August 2017 in Statesboro, GA.

Fueled by the food journeys of the proprietors, Soyumi was developed as a concept to broaden the horizons of it's patrons as well as it's team members. Coined from the phrase that's exclaimed when something tasty hits the spot: "it's so yummy!" , we strive to provide an experience that is unlike any other.

maitre d' and server were ideal. Attentive, quick, very friendly. Beautiful atmosphere with zin/ neosoul music in the background. Very quiet and intimate. Food was wonderful and got to us in record timing. Had their Savannah Mule and was impressed. I highly recommend. I will be returning. Best dinning experience in Statesboro that I’ve had yet.

This isn't my usual kind of restaurant so I wasn't sure if I would like it, but the food was excellent. The service was courteous, fast, and personable. The restaurant was very nice. Highly recommend.

Visiting the area for a wedding and, to be blunt, the area is not a “foodies” paradise. A notable exception. Is Soyumi. We had a wonderful meal. Service was exceptional - ask for Briana to be your server if you can.

They ruined a perfectly good ribeye. Surely will not go back.
Said spicy steak sauce. It was not spicy but over salty and bland. 21.00 for a ruined steak. Very disappointed!!!

Third visit to Soyumi and have never been disappointed! Excellent service with delicious cuisine; presentation is outstanding! Curry stir-fry, spring rolls, miso soup, shrimp skewers, etc. impels is to return for more! We will return!

Just tried Soyumi for the first time. The food was delicious. Not much of a fish fan, but I tried the fish on the recommendation from the server and she did not steer me wrong! It was great! I always like to ask the server what their favorite dish is and it is usually a good bet. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and will definitely go again. The server was very friendly and helpful. I think her name was Allison.

Made a reservation.
Restaurant had very few in house diners.
Ordered my food within 5 min, I was a single diner.
Food took 25-30 min to arrive.
I was apologized to but never offered a salad or something to have while I did wait.
Noticed the Togo orders may have been what took my food longer.
Once it did arrive the plate my sushi was served on was oily and had finger prints. Sushi was not presented very well.
Salmon was fresh and tasted great.
The red snapper was almost dried out, and yellow tail was less fresh as well.

Overall experience was not good. Food was a let down, and I can now see why my server looked terrified when I ordered raw fish from a sushi restaurant. If I knew what I was about to get I wouldn't have ordered it either.

Will return once it is open a bit longer and works out whatever kinks are causing in house diners to have to wait over Togo orders or lazy sushi chefs not caring to keep up with the freshness of their sushi. Which should be their first priority.

Very Good Food! Great Service! Quiet! We ordered the Spicy Crab Salad, California Rolls and Grilled chicken with vegetables. All delicious! And the fried Cheesecake for dessert was big enough to share!

The food we ordered was very tasty. We went with friends and all had the same opinion.
The menu choices were VERY limited and product descriptions were very scant. The other problem we had was they have no alcohol license, a fact we did not know until well after we were seated.
The bottom line is I will not return to this restaurant if it remains the same, just not our cup of tea.

I was very excited about another Asian place in Statesboro. The service was not an issue, we were very pleased with our server. The glasses could be a little bigger, that would prevent the servers from having to make so many refills. However, the food was the biggest turn-off. We ordered sushi, mackerel, and it did not taste as fresh as it should. I am not a novice sushi eater, and I have had mackerel many times so I know its taste well. Our entrees were not good. My husband got the grilled chicken, the quality of the chicken was very poor. I got the pork ramen and the whole thing was bland. The pork was fatty and nothing but gristle. We barely touched our food. I was very disappointed with our visit. We will not be visiting again.

My girlfriend and I showed up at 7:20 for our 7:30 reservations, there was no host manning the door. So we sat on the bench for a few minutes until a young overly energetic hostess bounced and skipped over to ask if we had reservations, to which she confirmed. She sat us at our extremely awkward table. It was wide on my girlfriends side between the seat and table, and close on mine. We also found the table really low. We sat nearly ten minutes before Emily our waitress came over. Meanwhile we watched the hostess zoom around, busting tables, going to and from the back, the bar, and everywhere in between. Multiple wait staff talking at the kiosk several times for what seemed like 4 or 5 minutes at a time. Other staff over waiting other guest while seeming to ignore other guest. We ordered drinks, Miso soup to start, and my girlfriend ordered the beef, rice, and vegetable plate. I ordered the same except with shrimp. Our drinks and Miso soup came out fairly quickly. The drink glasses were half glasses and emptied quicker than usual. The waitress filled my girlfriends water up about 15 minutes into the meal. While Emily was filling the water up, I loudly seated my empty sweet tea glass at the end of the table toward her to bring attention, to which she ignored and I never received a refill the entire meal. The Miso soup was filled with what I assume was seaweed. The flavor was mediocre. Not bad, not good. Just was. On both our plates, the entire meal was luke warm. The vegetables hard and under-cooked. The beef was done on the outside, but raw and bloody on the inside. It was hard and gummy. Chewy like rubber. The shrimp was okay, except for some kind of weird slimy texture on it I could not identify or even describe quite accurately. We literally barely ate any of it. We told both our waitress and manager/owner of the issues. To which he apologized and asked us to come back in 1 or 2 months. He did nothing to try to rectify our complaints or issues. We wasted $45.00.

Sushi was amazing! By far the best in the boro!! Only negative was there wasn't anything on the menu for kids. I have a 7 yr old that LOVE sushi but also a 3 yr old that is a typical picky eater. There needs to be something on your menu that can accommodate children, otherwise you will alienate a large group of people that have young kids. I would not bring my kids back at this point so it will be a while before we would go back!

The food was alright, sushi was not very tight. Sushi was my main reason for visit, but I tried 2 different meals and an appetizer. The entree's we alright, really disappointed because I had high hopes for this place, Statesboro needs a good Japanese place.

Not a bad experience, but, not a great one either. Definitely not a family with children kind of place. There is NOT a menu available for children. The food was ok, but, nothing spectacular. Our sushi still had some shell left on the shrimp which was a bit unpleasant. Our salad had brown wilted pieces, so, disappointing. The grilled shrimp was delicious and food presentation is quite nice and appetizing. Seems a little pricey, a dinner for three adults with 2 small children (who shared) was over $120. The menu may need to be expanded, etc. Not in a rush to go back.

My husband and I ordered the Hawaii roll, Tuna Roll, and the Oh My God roll. It was very fresh and close to the best sushi we've had in Statesboro! Our waitress was great, however I was disappointed with overall service. While we were waiting on our food, I noticed two tables waiting on their server. I didn't think anything of it until I realized after we had gotten on food that they were still waiting to just get their drinks. By the time we finished our sushi, the two tables had still not been seen by a server and were still waiting. I told our server when she came back and she said she'd go find whoever their waitress was. After a few minutes, one of the tables got up to leave then shortly after the other left too. I'm not sure what was going on, but I would be frustrated if that happened to me and I probably wouldn't come back. Besides that, we were pleased with our experience.

The food was fine but our reservation was for
8:45 and the waitress told us that the kitchen closed at 9:00. I asked because we felt rushed as they cleaned up around us. Tester aunt is attractive but no drinks or wine🤔

We did enjoy our evening. The service was great and all employees very friendly. However it was quite a long wait for our food for our party of six. Several of us thought the shrimp was undercooked. We were not aware ahead of time that no alcohol would be available.

I enjoyed trying Soyumi, but I hope that they work hard to improve a few areas. The staff when greeting us did not appear to be trained well in how to welcome people into a restaurant. The air conditioning / humidity level needs to be lower. The food was mixed. The sushi rolls were good. The pot-stickers / gyoza were grease soaked. The matcha tea refills were plentiful. The ramen noodles were good in a flavorful broth. I'd like to see tofu as a protein choice.

It looked great. And the food looked great, but the meat they put in their "dirty rice" isn't real, and it tasted gross. Not to mention their broccoli was spicy for some reason. They put sauces on my food even though I asked them not to. Our waiter seemed like he was new, just like the lady that seated us. Out waiter refilled date and I's drinks ONCE out of being their for like an hour. The food took forever to be served, and it was not worth the amount we paid.
Overall, I was very displeased.

It was ok, but we thought the food was pricey for what we received. The hibachi chicken was very tender, but my husband did not care for the curry flavor. He tried the dirty rice, but prefers fried rice. The sushi we had was good. But there are other local asian restaurants that are cheaper, give you more food, and we prefer the taste.
