I like this place location not my favorite. Nice staff and the food is hands down some of the best BBQ in SF.
Pretty good bbq for the city
The food was superb. Excellent. Generous portions and I loved how you can choose two mains and a couple of sides.
It's a little noisy inside so it might not be the best place to have a conversation. Food is great, temperature and taste and texture wise everything is perfect. The server seemed a little snobby but that could be just one server. Trendy crowd. Great location. Open late.
Food was overcooked and dry. BBQ sauce was okay. Cornbread didn't standout. The the world of BBQ there are better places. Good drinks and beers tho.
Very good BBQ, North Carolina style sauce and authentic southern sides. Great whiskey and bourbon selection.
Loved it and Southpaw was the perfect place for a low key, fun, yummy Valentine's day... :-)
Excellent service, happy hour prices meant we could eat lots for less, food was excellent! We had smoked wings, baby back ribs, cheddar grit cake, and cauliflower. Everything was excellent.
The staff was friendly and attentive. The restaurant had 4 varieties of hot sauces which were different types of heat and they were all very good. The portion sizes were also really big. We were told that a really hungry person would almost get through half a main entree. This was definitely the case.
Brisket is amazing and ribs are a great second choice. Shells and cheese or cheese grits are a must. Don't miss trying their beer because you cannot get it anywhere else.
Great food and great service! Our first time going there and the BBQ was awesome! Service was spot on. Made great recommendations on food and cocktails. Will definitely go back!
Ordered chicharones for starter and jackfruit sandwich. chicharones were fresh, served warm, larger, and tasted much better than their mass produced cousins. Jackfruit sandwich was another great pick. And as a first time order it proved to be an awesome substitute for meat based options. Even the meat eaters at the table liked it.
I really like the food and the cocktails here. I’ve been twice and will go again.
A creative take on bbq with friendly staff and great cocktails.
Six of us with a vegetarian. Meat dishes were delicious. Shrimp and grits were done nicely. Vegetarian (not strict) went with several side dishes. Whiskey flight was fun. We will go back.
The brisket was amazing! No need for a knife! It was like buttah!
Service was great, but food hit-and-miss. Brisket was the best meat item. Pulled pork was vinegary, and goat starter very greasy. Sides were good. I liked the ambiance and beers too, so if they up the food quality, this place will be a hit.
I was in the mood for BBQ and I’m not usually a big meat eater. I loved the cocktails and my husband and I shared the Brisket, fried chicken, grits, broccoli cauliflower, baked beans. It was all awesome and I’ll be coming again. Great service too!
Delicious bbq! Generous portions for the price
Good drinks, decent beer, fantastic brisket, and the fried pickles are amazing. Highly recommend.
Delicious every time! Great for meat eaters and vegetarians alike!
Unnecessarily large portions so don't order one for yourself... get a group together to come and share! The food was good (not great), really tasty cocktails, and very friendly service.
Love Southpaw! We used to live in Texas so know good barbecue when we see it. Food is always delicious and the service is friendly. Perfect for a casual birthday get together with friends.
Early dinner after matinee at the Victoria theater.
Supper yummy food. Something for everyone here! You gotta love that vinegar heavy Carolina style sauce, the spicy one is the best. I had brisket with baked beans and roasted broccoli and cauliflower. Everything was super yummy. The brisket fell apart before my fork even got under it, it was so tender. They let us try some of the “pulled” jackfruit and it was awesome. The beer was great. My husband raved about the grapefruit ipa. We will be back!
Had a great experience at Southpaw BBQ. Great venue, great staff, great service, and great food.
They make their own whiskey
Had a great meal last night. Highly recommend the Southpaw sauce!!
Best BBQ in San Francisco, paws down. Favorite wings in the world.
Food overall good. Service great.
Everything took extremely long to come out of the kitchen but was delicious
I dunno. Food was very tasty - bigger than necessary portions. Service was amazing - I arrived 15 minutes late for our reservation; my husband had already finished an appetizer but our server was unphased and picked up the pace without making me feel rushed. The thing that is perhaps stopping me from racing about this place is the metal trays and decor - I couldn’t stop thinking I was eating at a KFC. Does down-home cooking have to mean downscale dining?
Awesome shrimp & grits! Phenomenal Carolina sauce and the pulled chicken is incredible.
Great meal, great drinks, great service. Really helpful to have had a reservation. Definitely recommend!
Horrible service. Food wasn’t bad, drinks seemed good - never had the chance to order a second. Had to fight to just get and pay the bill!
Food wasn't as good as my previous time at Southpaw. I had the pulled chicken--just okay--others had brisket, which they said was better. Sides and appetizers were pretty good. They really shine with the whiskey selection, and our server gave a great recommendation.
Great spot for BBQ. Kids love the southpaw BBQ sauce. Good beers and cocktails too.
They were able to take a reservation for our large party and accommodate one extra guest. Food was tasty and felt like a good value overall.
Southpaw is awesome. Great food, and great ambiance. Make sure to go with the pulled pork
