Located on the edge of Rittenhouse Square and Graduate Hospital neighborhoods of Philadelphia, SouthGate is a twist on the traditional gastropub. Elevating food and drink in a modern but approachable way, the menu and the décor of Southgate are heavily influenced by both our Korean roots as well as modern American culture, preferring to be interesting and friendly rather than trendy.

Great menu. All 4 of us had a mix of delicious meals and the shared dessert was scrumptious. My first taste of soju was guided by our knowledgeable waiter. Highly recommend Southgate!

Cannot love this place more. The food is always delicious and there is something for everyone. We had the fried chicken (half and half), the cheeseburger and fries (some of the best!), vegetable mandu (the best) and tofu tacos, and the shrimp bibimbap. I think their bibimbap is the best in the city (fight me). Everything was so yummy and filling. The drinks are strong and so interesting! Can’t wait to go back.

Great food and service. We had a pre-theater dinner and they were able to accommodate our time restriction. Their happy hour menu is well-priced and has plenty of options. But don't miss out on their regular menu either.

Southgate was an amazing eat in philly. Great atmosphere, small but chill vibe for a Friday night. The food was great with a flare of Korean classics. The Korean fried chicken was crispy and delicious. The hot bimbimbop and the beef tacos were also amazing in their own ways. Would recommend it in a heartbeat!

Loved the pork bao buns and kimchi. The Korean hot fried chicken sandwich was just so so it lacked the hot chicken and spicy Korean spice punch it was kind of bland. The service was excellent!

We booked a late table, last minute when a relative from California was able to take some time away from work during a whirlwind business trip to help celebrate my mother’s 93rd birthday. The classics - soy fried chicken wings, steamed dumplings - were as delicious as ever. Some new items - a chopped salad topped with impeccably fried shrimp and a miso dressing, and a delicate cheesecake topped with pear - were terrific, too. And the staff were so kind to us all! Southgate never, ever disappoints. We love coming here!

If you don’t know about Southgate…you better go find out! The food is delicious! We love to go during happy hour especially since it is an hour longer than other restaurants during the week. Go treat yourself!

The food was a bit expensive but its good quality. My main complaint is the ramen... it was SOOOO hot. Temperature wise. I couldn't even eat it after an HOUR of sitting and letting it cool. Even had my bf try it and he burned himself too, so it wasn't just me being a big baby.

I must have a different taste compared to other reviewers. The menu was limited. Some items on the internet menu were absent at the restaurant . No fish dishes. Too much emphasis on beef products. Cooking was average and price was high. Reviewers should give honest opinions and not give high scores when a restaurant is not deserving.
