Aptly named for its locale, Southern Social nestles up to the old Southern Railway’s historic Germantown Depot and sits adjacent to Southern Avenue.

Owners of downtown Memphis’ Flight Restaurant and Wine Bar have opened Southern Social. The top tier fine dining restaurant will reflect the high standards established at Flight.

The restaurant features a chef-inspired menu, offering fresh seafood and prime steaks. Southern Social brings exceptional specialty cocktails and Flight’s award-winning wine selections.

    Our server, Alina was amazing! She recommended the pimento cheese appetizer and it did not disappoint. The drinks were very tasty and not the same ole same you see at every other restaurant. I had the pork chop the Brussels and the sweet potato casserole. All were top notch. Others had shrimp and grits as well as salmon. Two days later and we are all still talking about how great the meal was. As with all dining the service can make or break the experience. Alina was attentive but not overbearing. We didn’t order desert but Alina brought us chocolate covered strawberries to put a bow on our evening! Unexpected but such a thoughtful small gesture. We will dine here again and we will request Alina as our server.

    A Perfect Night at Southern Social — Thanks to Zada! What an incredible dining experience at Southern Social in Germantown. As we walked in, we could feel the warm from the greeting we received from the staff.  And once we were seated, Zada brought an energy and warmth that instantly made us feel welcome. Her sense of humor was spot on, she knew the menu inside and out, and she guided us through our choices with ease and enthusiasm. It was clear she genuinely cared about our experience and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. You can always tell when someone loves what they do—and Zada is one of those rare people who just gets it. She didn’t just serve us dinner; she elevated the entire evening. It was also a great touch that the manager came over at the end to ask as how everything was. We’ll definitely be back—and we’ll be requesting Zada by name. Oh, and thanks for the birthday dessert!

    Dinner was great. Our server, Zada, was excellent. Great knowledge of the menu. Usually get a steak with the grilled shrimp skillet, but ordered the pork chop this visit. It was fantastic.

    Overall I really enjoyed the extra effort the management staff put into making our 35th wedding anniversary special. From the special menu to the champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. Outstanding!!!

    Southern Social is a lovely place for a special occasion. The service was impeccable; we were made to feel welcome at every turn. The food was wonderful except for one glaring exception: I ordered the salmon and it was so highly salted that it made my lips pucker. It was a beautiful piece of fish, cooked to perfection but wildly oversalted.

    The dining experience was good and in a very nice environment. My family was there celebrating a birthday and our event was made special with the care taken to observe the birthday. The food and service were both great. Thanks for making our celebration special.

    We had a wonderful server named Callie who was very knowledgeable about the food and had a very pleasing demeanor. She did a wonderful job and the food was good!

    Food was amazing. I’m not a Mac and cheese person, it was amazing!! Mashed potatoes were perfect, and the tomahawk pork chop could do no wrong!!

    Our dinner was wonderful in all ways. The food was delicious and our server, Will did a great job. The atmosphere was really nice also. We were celebrating my daughter’s graduation from U of M with her Masters and I was celebrating my Retirement. We will definitely go back sometime soon for another memorable experience.
