   My ratings are based on a comparison to other fine dining establishments. Our crab claw appetizer was fairly tasteless. Our steaks - ribeye and filet- were excellent. Desserts - strawberry cake and bread pudding- were also excellent. One member of our party got the meatloaf after it was enthusiastically recommended. He didn’t care for it, as it was very dense and a bit gamey. The service was a disappointment. Our server talked so quietly it was difficult to hear her in the loud dining room. When she initially greeted us she asked what we’d like to drink, but no one had given us a drink menu or wine list. Later in the meal my water glass sat empty for so long that I drank my husband’s water. Once his was also empty we finally asked the server for a refill. Our desserts were delivered by a different server and as he said “enjoy!” And turned to leave I asked if we could get some silverware (there was none on the table at this point). And finally, when we paid our check the credit card slip was returned without a pen to fill it out. All of these missteps were minor, but they add up. Following the meal my husband said, “I think we got the B team tonight.”

   Ask for Carmelo as your waiter..made the experience very special…my daughter has a nightshade allergy that no one knows about..he was attentive and his level of attention to detail and service was outstanding.

   As has been every time we have been here everything was great. While our visits have been limited to special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries, we always enjoy our experience.

   First time eating at Southern Social. Was welcomed very warmly and allowed to change our seating option. Service was quick and friendly. Our meal was great…stuffed quail for me and blackened shrimp pasta for the wife). Cocktail was very good and dessert was very tasty and a generous size. We will return,
