Anniversary. Overall, great experience and our waitress was amazing!
The pork osso buco was so cooked so well. Very tender and fell off the bone. But the description of the sides was off. It said it came with a sweet potato hash and Brussels sprouts. There were no Brussels sprouts. The side instead reminded me of a breakfast hash, since there were peppers and bacon in it. The meat was phenomenal but the side needed to be elevated.
Celebrated a birthday and ate there for the first time. Food was delicious. We each ordered something different and it was all great! Our server was attentive and handled our special requests with a smile. Can't wait to go back. Seeing the light rail pass by was awesome too!
Chicken was great but would have liked option for dark or white meat.
Fried green tomatoes, fried chicken, and bread pudding were all amazing!
bartender needs to get trained on how to make a variety of cocktail drinks besides those on the menu.
We went to celebrate National Fried Chicken Day and were NOT disappointed! Their version is crispy, juicy and sooo flavorful and the mashed potatoes, collards w/bacon and complementary glass of bubbly were great accompaniments. Cocktails were interesting and tasty and desserts were just stellar-coconut custard with gingerbread crumbles...the stuff of my dreams!
Our one and only complaint was the noise level; too many hard surfaces, I guess. We found ourselves shouting at each other just to be heard. That said, we loved our meal and service was perfect!
I love this restaurant. We should not have to wait 1 hour for our order to arrive
Service was very good as always. The Tomato and Roasted Pepper Soup were very good, but the Salmon was just OK. Not bad, but not great. Overall a good meal and we will be back.
We came for the Bird and Bubbles event and celebrated National Fried Chicken Day. It was great!
It was national fried chicken day and Southern Rail added a glass of champagne! Excellent chicken but 1 appetizer, 2 meals, water and 1 Moscow Mule + tip was $86.00. It’s pricey!
The fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese are to die for!
Good dining experience. The brioche buns with REAL apple butter (not apple-flavored butter) was fantastic. Also had the fried chicken. Chicken was plentiful (4 pcs) that I took home and had the next afternoon.
Menu was not overbearing and I could see myself ordering almost anything on the list.
I really want to like this place. But the food is just ok. I like everything else.
Great food and ALWAYS exceptional service! Love to support the locally owned restaurants!
Fantastic Southern fried chicken & yummy mashed potatoes! Started with a BLT salad - thick slices of bacon and great dressing. Waiter was very attentive and helpful. We’re transplants from GA. We’ll be back!!
Went with a group of friends. Cocktails were delicious, food was fabulous!
Peg and I went there for National Bourbon Day....and enjoyed an incredible Hot Brown Sandwich that was put together by Chefs Heather, Justin, and Jacob Cutino (Cutino Hot Sauce). It was so incredibly flavorful. The Dirty Rice Balls, and Deviled Egg appetizers are always consistently good. Service was attentive but not hovering. This place has been a wonderful concept by Chef Beckett along with his wife and Scott and Katie Stephens...the minds behind Beckett's Table in the Arcadia area. We have gone to it on family occasions, date nights, and their special event nights. A definite place to check out for southern flair and a wonderful wine list! Dr. B
Cool setting with good food and excellent service. The staff was very friendly and attentive.
The Gumbo was so delicious and the service was fantastic. Would certainly drive the 40 minutes to this place again.
Liked dinner service better.. Brunch was just ok...
Thomas was a great server. Music playing was awesome and upbeat. Food was great. We went right at opening.
The food was only average but our server was outstanding. Used to be the old Beefeaters and has been redecorated and mostly gutted. A lot of other choices in the area better than this.
The waiter seemed a little timid, but that didn’t deter us from having a nice meal. Kids ten and five, three adults. Sampler appetizer and fried green tomatoes. Two orders of salmon and one of meatloaf. The kitchen seems to go out of the way to semi custom an order for the picky ten year old...and get it right.
Though we wish there were more lighter options on the menu so we could go more often, we had delicious meals. The salmon with basmati rice and grilled zucchini and the veggie casserole were our light options cooked perfectly. The boys enjoyed the meatloaf. The cocktails were well crafted and the wine options are very good. They have killer southern desserts but we did not succumb this time.
We took out of town friends and we were not disappointed. The place was as great as always. The food was great and the service was excellent. Our server was a young lady named, Brillingth. She was helpful and very courteous, but didn't hover. There is not much I can say about Southern Rail, but that it was EXCELLENT all the way around.
We came to Southern Rail for my birthday for Phoenix Restaurant Week, where we were able to try three courses and a wine for $33. We enjoyed the variety of food we got to sample through the Restaurant Week menu option, which included items ranging from creamy grits served with delicious mushrooms to a delicious coconut pudding served with a soft gingersnap cookie. Our server was friendly and welcoming. We really liked the overall vibe/ambiance of the space, and I would be interested to come back and try some bourbon cocktails at the bar. Changing Hands bookstore next-door makes for a great post-dinner adventure.
Restaurant week menu was good value and good options
Been here a few times now and never a disappointment! Love their food. Always something new to try and excellent service!
My only regret: After tasting my husband’s grits, I was sad I had not ordered my own.
The volume of the "music" (noise) made it impossible to talk to my dining partner even though we were seated right next to each other. The waiter was very friendly but it was difficult to understand what he was saying. The food was good but not fab. The special occasion information given when making the reservation was not used.
I love the ambience of the restaurant itself, inside and out. The menu is creative, with southern staples and some unique choices as well. I always like to have the White Sangria from the bar, very enjoyable! The food and service has always been great.
First time at Southern Rail and it exceeded my expectations! We went during their "Social Hour" and ordered off that menu so we could taste several things. The guys ordered the Muffeletta burger which they loved. The Vegetable Enchiladas were excellent. We also had the Avocado Toast. We loved it and will go back again.
Loved the fried tomatoes. The deviled eggs were almost too pretty to eat. Drinks were great and fried chicken is always the best.
We took the light rail for an hour and before that drove an hour to go to restaurant. We were promptly seated. The restaurant was loud. We ordered off of the Arizona Restaurant Week selections. My husband ordered grits with mushrooms, chicken pot pie, and coconut pudding with Dr Pepper to drink. I ordered deviled eggs, jambalaya, and chocolate brownie with lemonade to drink. The pie topper was tough, the filling was delicious. The jambalaya was adequately spiced. My husband felt the pot pie size was small, the same size as the appetizer and he enjoyed eating some of my entree, otherwise he would have left hungry. I enjoyed my meal. The beverages were kept full.
The experience was a little lacking, a bit sterile.
Excellent for family celebrating a birthday
Been here for brunch and dinner
Different menu tasty food for all pallets. $33 restaurant with a glass of wine included was delicious
Food was excellent. Nice menu with a lot of choices. It was a little to noisy however. Anyway I recommend it.
The food was delicious, although the service was a bit slow towards the end of the meal. Our original waiter disappeared, but another waiter checked up on us and got us our check after we had been waiting for about 10 minutes. It's a beautiful restaurant and we've never had a bad meal here. We'll definitely return, although we might sit at the bar next time.
Impromptu family brunch for my daughters graduation! Delicious!
