We live in Tucson and attended a meeting in Phoenix. Dis a search on Open Table for a dinner spont. A real pleasant surprise. Moderate pricing and very tasty food. We sat in the smaller room towards the back. Relatively quiet and pleasant. Highly recommend for Southern Comfort dining.
Fun spot. Really enjoyed the bourbon flight. Great ambiance. Apps were good. The main courses were ok. Not sure how likely it will be we go back, but still had a good time overall!
Great Valentines menu !!
We have always had great service at the Southern Rail. It is one of our go to restaurants. While I liked the menu they served for Valentine's Day, I would have preferred the full menu. But I understand.
We will be coming back... on a regular basis. Hard to pass up the great food and the selection of bourbon.
To start this was not my first visit to Southern Rail and all prior times I absolutely loved the experience and the food. But for a prefix Valentine’s Day date dinner, it was sub par at best and honestly made me feel sick to my stomach with how much money I spent on the experience. The lemonade ordered for a drink was extremely sour - like a lemon sour warhead. The shrimp cocktail I ordered for an additional $10 included only three shrimp that were room temperature, not cold at all for being raw shrimp. The main course we both ordered was the oven roasted chicken and both of us had multiple spots in the chicken where it was raw and not cooked through. We looked past it and proceeded to dessert which was a dried out almond butter pastry, much like a $3 pastry from Lux Coffee on Central except not as good. For a dinner totaling $175, and with past experiences being wonderful, the prefix meal fell short and if this happened to be my first time going I would not return. Disappointing for the large sum of money for what should have been a WOW experience.
Yet to be disappointed here. Excellent Valentine's prix-fixe menu.
Got to the restaurant one time to see our reservation under MY name had been claimed. Very angry about this and the restaurant did nothing to make it right. Terrible.
An attempt at Southern cuisine. Grits had no grit. They took fried chicken off the Valentine’s Day menu even though it is the house specialty. The menu was over priced but they wanted to stick to a fixed selection. The dessert was a dried out muffin which is not southern or even edible.
The $55 prix fixe menu (3 items) was ok for valentine's day... just ok. A couple amazing items (shrimp grits, cauliflower soup, noble toast) most ok (duck risoto, gumbo), and a crappy desert (dry muffin... no other options). No chocolate desert on valentines? The service was average. Server was young and inexperienced. Great ambiance, but not much else. Overpriced for what it was... more like $25 person.
Absolutely the best dinner ever! Wow! Can they do pulled pork?!? YES!
Always a great stop over for lunch
It was fine
The fried chicken was awesone. Great menu selections. Great atmosphere.
We'll return to Southern Rail again and again! We love the menu items - farm to table! Healthy options and all delicious options!
Libby provided amazing service.
One of our favorite regular place to eat
This was the perfect setting for a relaxing, enjoyable conversation with a fabulous meal. I took a small group of friends after a long day at work. The atmosphere was quiet enough to have a conversation and the food was wonderful.
Good southern style food. Fun place with lovely outdoor patio.
Food was good.
So loud that we found ourselves yelling at each other
I had 16.99 shrimp and grits at Emerils in LO airport gate that blew this away. No ham. No bacon as told. . 4 medium shrimp served in red sauce over grits. 24.00? No thanks.
You can do better.
We loved it! The service from the moment we walked in was exceptional.
The food was overpriced for the quality. Everything was bland, it lacked substance.
Excellent! Met friends for dinner and the service was patient as we caught up... deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes were great start and we had some of the fried chicken... as well as delicious entrees. Finished with beignets. Great evening with great food!
Wonderful place for a meal. Only complaint was the noise but we were in the patio. Inside is quiet. Highly recommend.
A nice dining experience with outstanding service. Food was very good! Atmosphere was good!
Todd was our server and he was fabulous. Great recommendation on the fried chicken!!
Christmas dinner with family
Eating out during Christmas Holidays can be a challenge. Glad f0r open table reservations. Friendly service and excellent food
Good food good atmosphere good service Will definitely go back.
First time there and we were thrilled with the entres the 4 of us ordered. Relaxed atmosphere even with the cloth napkins and glassware at each place setting. The food is exceptional. Probably should make reservations, Chef Beckett does it right.
Chef Heather and Chef Chris have always created inventive dishes that represent the vision of this place. The service has always been good but not obtrusive. This is a great restaurant for the holidays as it can host private parties and accommodate requests. This has been one of our favorites since it opened! Dr. B
Fantastic spot for lunch, food and service were top-notch! Po-boys and gumbo were DELICIOUS!
Great venue to get together with friends and family. Staff accommodated with last minutes changes without hesitation. Great customer service by our server Phoebe and great food. Thanks Southern Raul for allowing us to have a great time!
Shrimp and grits were great!
Muffy burger not great and really spicy hot!
French toasted bread pudding was awsome!
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Southern Rail. Service and food were terrific.
The food and service was outstanding!
First time here and the food was very delicious. The fried chicken (with the hot sauce, natch) and pulled pork plates were outstanding, and combined with the live music made for a great evening!
If you like low country food this is the place to go. The food is well prepared and delicious. Plus the portions are generous. Definitely go.
This restaurant is fantastic. We started with the green tomatoes and they were fantastic. The pimento cheese is unbelievable. We then progressed to the fried chicken. Collar greens to die for. Classic French preparation of potatoes. Chicken is so moist and delectable. So buttery, so creamy, so velvety. You and everyone in your family need to go here. Happy holidays!
