We were very pleased with our visit to Southern Rail. The decor and lighting was perfect for a nice date night. Our server was great and was very knowledgeable about the food.
The food was incredible! My Salmon dish was the best I've ever had. Our appetizer of Fried Green Tomatoes was unbelievable! I am still craving it. We will definitely be headed back to this spot!
First time dining at Southern Rail. Food was great - fried green tomatoes, fried chicken, shaved vegetable salad, all prepared well.
Service was poor. Our party of four had reservations. When we arrived, there was no host or hostess to greet or to sit us, for at least 5 minutes. Finally were seated on the patio (which we requested). Our server seemed attentive - at first. But, he was absent for most of our meal. Our order took much longer to come out than we would have liked.
You can get better southern cuisine at Cracker Barrel. Green fried tomatoes were good.
Outstanding food and drinks in a comfortable atmosphere.
Excellent waiter and kindness in working with my food allergies. Love this place
Absolutely brilliant experience my buddy and I ordered enough food to feed at least four people, but we wanted to try it all! Server was great! She recommended her favorites in a classy manner (which we ordered as well) and she was very sweet. It was just an absolute dynamite spread of the South, and great representation of good-soul southern food. From beginning to end we loved every minute of it!! Thank you so much!!
We had a birthday brunch for my mom’s 87th birthday. We were seated promptly and my mom had a birthday card signed by the staff at her seat. The food was delicious, as always, and the service impeccable and friendly. Thank you for making my mom’s day special, Southern Rail!
Excellent service by John and the food delicious.
The restaurant is very neat looking, it is right in downtown Phoenix. It's a very busy part of town there's a lot going on and the restaurant is very modern-looking. You walk in and it's almost the feel that you get if you're on an expensive boat. The staff was very kind the food was decently good personally I thought it was way overpriced for what it was.
Brioche buns were extremely dry. Tastes like warmed up from the day before.
Got a tablespoon of mashed potatoes with fried chicken, and for another scoop and got charged $5 for a side of mashed potatoes.
Was expecting the dining experience to mirror Beckett's Table, which is far better. In observance of Lent, three of us chose a salad as our main course. Had to "settle" for adding the shrimp, we would have preferred the salmon that was not available to add as a protein. The online wine list offered the Trig Point Merlot, the list presented to us at the restaurant did not appear to be the same, Trig Point was not an option.
Great unusual food and great service in a fun atmosphere.
Stopped in for dinner with 2 work friends. Food was ok. I had the signature fried chicken. Crispy and hot but under seasoned. My mashed potatoes were cold as were the collards. Probably won’t be back.
Great food good omnibus wine a little pricey
Service was good.
have been to Southern Rail once before...thought it was great...great food, great service.
Yesterday we took out of town guests and were so disappointed. Sat on patio. We sat for 15 minutes before my husband finally asked I bus boy if we could order some drinks. Waiter eventually came over - no apologies for making us wait, nothing to say except " can i get you something to drink."
Waited a long time for those drinks to come. Waited a long time for server to come back and take food order. When food came some was cold, shrimp on shrimp po-boy was tough.. Server never came and asked how anything was, never asked if we wanted desert. Asked server (twice) if we could have heater turned on as it was cool and there was a breeze - he never did it. Finally my husband grabbed bus boy (again). He tried 3 different heaters until he got one that had propane in it and would stay on.
Patio very noisy with street traffic but still a nice patio. Other guests who got there after us were served beforer us, both drinks and food. My husband and I drive out of our way to go to local businesses. I love local businesses and hate chains, especially for restaurants. I am so disappointed.
Pretty quiet early Sunday. Seemed a bit unprepared for service, but recovered. Food was very good and service was above average. Enjoyable.
Customer service was excellent, but the food was just okay. We ordered deviled eggs, macaroni and cheese, fried chicken and a shrimp po boy. Overall my dinner party felt the food was good, but nothing we wanted to come back for.
The fried chicken was out of this world. Have eaten there several times and the service is always top notch.
Love, love this restaurant. Great menu, fun staff, all around a great experience.
It was our first time there and it was great!
Our server(s) were great but outside on the patio was way too loud and not just from Camelback Road street noise. The table next to us was loud and disruptive to our conversations. The prices were high for what and how much you get, especially the wine pours and the cocktails! Although the food tasted good just nothing exceptional for the price.
Fun atmosphere with a great big patio. It was busy because it was also Fat Tuesday which is also why it was pretty noisy, even though we were seated in one of the small dining rooms. Service was wonderful and food was pretty good. Lots of southern comfort food to choose from
Had a great Mardi Gras meal with friends. We enjoyed the special menu jambalaya, but the men, as usual, went for the fabulous fried chicken. It was a beautiful evening to sit outside. Even though it was crowded, the service was great and we never felt rushed. This is our second year to celebrate Fat Tuesday at Southern Rail...a new tradition is born.
Enjoyed the food and our time at the restaurant. We went there for Madri Gras and was not disappointed. The staff was fun and the place was decorated for the occassion.
We went to celebrate a birthday, and it also happened to be Mardi Gras. Great night, great food, great environment.
Mars I Gras event.
Thought there was mention of live music, would have made the experience of Mardi Gras even better! Still enjoyed the night 😊
Food was great. Patio seating was very nice. We have been going there for years and will continue to in the future.
This is our favorite spot!! The food is incredible with a menu of items you don't find at just any restaurant. The service is always impeccable with everyone going above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience! The atmosphere is a wonderful mix of classy but casual - the live Jazz music on the patio in the spring just adds an extra level of ambiance! If you haven't tried this spot, you're missing out!
Dinner was lovely, very tasty food. Only problem we had was dessert took to long, we had told our waiter before we ordered any food that we had to leave by a certain time, we were late to our event
Excellent friendly service ..food superior
Our group of 10 had a terrific waitress, wonderful service and awesome food! One of our out-of-town guests was impressed that the bar staff changed the TV channel so he could watch his Duke Blue Devils play basketball!
Very accommodating for our party of seven. We had very good service and the food was very nice.
A small group of friends and I were celebrating my birthday. I’m from the New Orleans area and wanted a steadier of home. Southern Rail far exceeded my expectations. I am now and forever a regular. Everything was splendid!
It was a fantastic evening and the food was amazing. Particularly the seared salmon, perfect.
Southern Rail is a member of the Beckett restaurant group, so we had high expectations when dining there. The menu holds promise, but the execution doesn't back that up. Least desirable parts of the visit were (1) the waiter who seemed to be new at his job and (2) the lack of key signature dishes that the restaurant ran out of the previous Thursday (we visited on Sunday). On the plus side, the cocktails were excellent. Didn't test the wine list, but it looked good. On balance, our visit was a loser. We might go back; we might not.
We have been to Southern Rail before. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and had a wonderful server— Todd.
Great food. Great price. Great service.
It was great! The food was amazing and our server was awesome.
Valentine's day for the 50th time...with reservations we were seated in a side area which allows proper conversation ... the main dining area is very loud when full ...it is OK as people come to enjoy one another and talk rather than text so we usually don't care... our service was super and our busboy was a joy to watch...to see a young man so intent upon doing a good job...don't look at the hair...look at the person. B. had the okra and shrimp/grits...the food of her childhood...only better. I had the collard green and seafood stew...foods I would never eat in my childhood... and we shared begents...it is a shared pleasure...our Valentine's tradition.
I took my hubby here for his birthday and it was amazing the food was really good we loved it
