Southern Hospitality - Hell's Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
I had heard quite positive things about the restaurant so I finally got a chance to try it out with my niece. Decor is a little too "rustic" for my general taste, but the food was really yummy. I had the Tennessee Fried Chicken and she had the Seafood Mac&Cheese. All-in-all a nice dining experience and I will go back to try other things in the menu.
I had a party of 12 originally. One person cancelled at the last minute. The host staff was very accommodating as half my party was late so that was appreciated. Once we were seated, the service from that point till when we got our check was not satisfactory. Four a party of over 10 ppl the staff was not very attentive and the food was not great. I don’t think I would eat here again. The ambience wasn’t bad, the restaurant looks nice but I would not go back based on the service alone.
Visited for thanksgiving with my family Party of 8. Everyone enjoyed the food we had the Prime Rib, Fried Shrimp, Catfish and Thanksgiving Buffet. Overall decent meal. Gave 3 stars because our seating arrangement was not pleasant- there was a draft and we were sitting next to the door. The door was opened at least 3 times (way too many!!!) during our dinner- the fact that only our server Denise cared about our level of comfort was a bit disconcerting. If I am to enjoy my experience- all levels of hospitality must be meet....cold during dinner falls a little short.
Good food but not much "southern hospitality". No one greeted or helped us. Begrudgingly the hostess who was too busy on her phone seated us. There was barely anyone else in the restaurant. There was one waitress who was amazing and came in for her shift after we had been seated. She helped us even though we weren't in her section because she saw no one else was. I don't know how she works with the those people. She would ask them to help her and they would just ignore her. It was sad . She deserves a raise.
We waited over 40 minutes for our food. The wait staff delivered the incorrect meal 3 times and when we did receive it, the chicken was cold. They didn't feel the need to apologize or discount the meal. Our glasses went empty most of the time and we had to ask for our refills. In the end, the server brought us 1 dessert to share amongst 3 people "to show I care"...
This place was recommmended for a Sunday brunch. The mimosas were great and the food was fantastic, although my eggs were a little on the cool side but still good. I am very picky when it comes to eating collard greens from restaurants. Most of the time they’re bland, but SH’s greens made me sing on the first bite. I’ll definitely return for more.
Bar atmosphere but surprisingly quiet for 10 pm on a Thursday night. Food was mixed-- brisket and BBQ chicken-- very good. Chicken tenders and sides-- ok, wouldn't reorder. Service was just ok-- had to keep flagging the gal down for water-- and the place was mostly empty. This place could be great-- they've got the BBQ down-- the rest needs some work.
We went to Southern Hospitality for brunch on a Saturday around 12. The food is southern breakfast (as expected), and al our dishes were so good! If you ordered an entree, you could choose to get unlimited drinks (mimosa, Bellini, screwdriver, or Bloody Mary) for an additional cost. Never once did any of our glasses get empty. It was constant refills, and constant check ins from our waitress, which was amazing! Tables do have a two hour limit due to the unlimited mimosas, but we never felt rushed. For the first hour we were there, the restaurant was slowly getting busier, but the noise was still quiet. The latter half (remember: unlimited mimosas), the rooms were pretty loud and it felt as though we were yelling our conversation. Overall, great location, food, and drinks. I'd definitely recommend this place!
The fries were covered in Cajun spice...even my kids. This was not specified on the menu and we didn't like them. My burger tasted burnt even though it didn't appear to be. 2 of us has major stomach upset through the night after our meal. The waitress did not seem too familiar with the menu which I feel she should be if she is working there. The only positive I can say is I was not charged for my margherita which I sent back because it was awful and my 2 girls enjoyed their non-alcoholic shirley temples. .
We booked here because we had out teenage nephew & niece visiting and thought they might enjoy it. We weren't sure the adults would though. We were pretty surprised, it's a fun, lively spot and the service was friendly and hospitable. Part of our group was half an hour late and they simply said "don't worry, we are here all night", instead of being bothered we were taking up a prime table. The food was surprisingly good, baby back ribs, crispy fried shrimp and fried chicken salad. The portions are way too big so I would suggest sharing entrees, we had too much food.
Went for brunch with a friend this past Sunday...had a great time, the food was good. Does get a bit loud. The wait staff was fun and helpful. I was there a couple of weeks ago for brunch with a different friend and completely enjoyed the live music...I picked this place again because of the music and missed it, this past Sunday...bring it back.
We ate brunch at the bar and the bartender was very nice and efficient, but that was about it. Our food came out five minutes after we ordered it, probably because it was precooked then reheated. The scrambled eggs were so dry, they were tough and crunchy; the grits were so dry, they had a crust; and the pulled pork wasn't pulled - it was just big fatty chunks. I doubt we'll go back.
Made a last minute reservation. Out of town friends came into town for their anniversary to see a show. When I told the staff about the anniversary they brought over a complimentary bottle of champagne! The service was amazing and the food is always good.
I don't write many reviews, but I've been going here for years. Even when they're crazy crowded the staff is always friendly and accommodating. There are several options in the neighborhood, but they consistently get it right. SO many others in the neighborhood could take lessons from the management and staff here. This remains one of my favorites!
The host was delightful and reminded us to leave room for dessert, but that didn't work out. I ordered the fried chicken salad that was so filling and my husband ate the fried chicken dinner and also couldn't finish it. He ordered the 4 for $10 NY beer special and enjoyed that. At $11 for a glass of Sangria, I passed on that. Prices were high (over $20 for fried chicken and a biscuit), but glad we checked it out.
