Service wasn’t great, I despise having staff remove every item from the table while I’m trying to enjoy my company, they all but washed the table with us sitting there. Food was good, we enjoyed it. The cornbread isn’t good though and was served cool in a cast iron skillet so that was a disappointment.

Great for post theatre dining in the neighborhood. Excellent small plate options. Delicious meats. Reasonable wine pours.

Amazing!! I was concerned to take my 5 year old granddaughter, but they were amazingly prepared for kids. Within 5 minutes she had carrots, apples with ranch and 5 minutes later her meal!! I’m sure this is due to the American Girl Doll Store being within walking distance. The service was amazing from the minute we entered the door. The food was delicious, and I highly recommend the jalapeño cornbread and brisket!! The beautiful interior and atmosphere capped off a wonderful evening! Loved it!!

The ribs are good but not great. The corn bread is very good as is the banana cream pie.The drinks are "short." The server Kristy is excellent .

They changed this from the Local Chicago which we enjoyed. They left some items on so we gave it a try. Service was excellent. Food was very good. We had the salmon which was very tasty. A bit dry but very good. Side dishes were great. Pulled chicken was great. Bun made the difference. Enjoyed the different BBQ sauces. Appetizer was jalapeño corn bread which we have each time we went there when it was Local Chicago. Could have used more Jalapeño.

So, so few really good Southern BBQ restaurants, if any in Chicago. You folks really found a niche that appeals to many that crave good BBQ in a friendly, not noisy or bar setting that can be just as much enjoyed with a business associate as for a family dinner. Space is exceptionally well designed as is outside area and BBQ is the real thing! Great selections, portions and service. Well done!

Four of us went to Southern Cut for a mid-week dinner. We expected a lot because we were very familiar with LeeAnn's BBQ and the quality of meat served at Chicago Cut.

There was an extensive cocktail and whiskey list and a much broader menu than anticipated. Lots of bourbons that were new to u were listed. All looked chosen carefully to go with the menu.

We truly enjoyed our entire meal. We shared the beet salad with our beverages - thinly sliced beets with perfectly ripe pear and a sprinkling of blue cheese in a beautiful presentation.

Since it was our first time we opted for BBQ. We split 1 1/2 slabs of competition ribs, a two meat platter of brisket and pulled pork, 1/2 lb of pulled pork and an order of fries. Everything was even better than we 'd hoped. The ribs were beautiful, with the meat almost falling off the bone. The pulled pork and brisket were lean and moist. The brisket wall all meat with a nice barque. Home-made chips came with the platter and also were hot and crispy.

LeeAnn stopped by to say hi and check on us - nice touch.

We also sampled the desserts - chocolate cake, banana cream pie and key lime favorite. They all were delicious. Each was the favorite of one of us.

A great city choice for BBQ! We'll go back to try more of the menu.

I tried breakfast here after striking out on the acceptability of their carryout on a prior occasion . The food in the buffet was not hot , the omelette had the wrong cheese - feta versus cheddar , the waitress was checked out . I asked for salsa with my omelette - never received it . It took awhile to get a refill on the water . The coffee was fine .

Chef Lee Ann Whippen and crew delivered another memorable meal and BBQ experience. This was our second visit, the first being for Sunday brunch. For this visit, we enjoyed an amazing dinner starting with the chicken noodle soup and entrees consisting of sliced brisket with a side of mac-n-cheese and the incredible Pit Master sandwich. Everything was amazing but you-have-to-try-the-pit-master-sandwich! Sliced brisket, pulled pork and pulled chicken with a topping of slaw, pickles and fried jalapenos - wow! As always, Chef was out front checking each and every plate as it came out of the kitchen. Chicago has some great BBQ and Southern Cut is a must try!

Southern cut was fabulous. The nachos are like nothing we have ever had. Not your run of the mill nachos. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and the brisket and pulled chicken top notch. Lee Ann whippen knows her stuff. Everyone was very nice and the atmosphere is not at all what you would expect when eating BBQ. I can't wait to go back

Service and everything from the appetizers to main courses, sides, dessert and beverages were so good that I can't wait to come back. No visit to the table by the chef, which I hear happens from time to time, but I'm sure she's busy back there.

We ate at Southern Cut BBQ on a Saturday night. It wasn't crowed or noisy when we arrived about 6:15 but that changed within half an hour. Oh well. Two of our group had the ribs and liked them enough. I am surprised, however, that they don't come with any sides. Another in our group had the pit master without the pulled pork. He liked it a lot. The sandwich came with slaw and chips. Beware - the chips are seasoned. The fourth diner does not eat meat and had fish and chips. The fish was ok but you don't expect great fish at a BBQ restaurant. The fries were excellent - far better than the chips. We shared carrot cake and banana cream pie for dessert. Both were good but the winner was definitely the banana cream pie.

This may be an odd criticism but the coffee cup was filled too full. I could not get enough cream into the coffee to suit my taste because the cup was so full. Later when I asked for warm up I got another entire cup of coffee. That seems nice but the cup was once again too full for enough cream and too hot to drink before we were leaving. I really would have just appreciated a warm-up. At minimum, if you like cream in your coffee, ask that it be served with room for cream.

We were warmly greeted at the door by the Hostess and seated right away. Their BBQ recipes are unique and all of our meals tasted great. The Ahi Tuna Tartare is a wonderful starter. I enjoyed the Chicken & Pork platter. The Mac Daddy Sandwich was also ordered at our table and quickly consumed. Both our waiter and the busing staff paid attention to the service (refusing to give us a plate because of a blemish I did not even notice). It's a crowded part of Chicago but a nice respite from all of the running around outside. I'd certainly go back.

This place doesn't disappoint. This is authentic barbecue! The food was tender and smoked to perfection, I love the dry rub as it created an awesome flavor. We had the salmon, smoked chicken sandwich, beef brisket, and I had the Pit Master - the best of all the cuts, it's a must have! We closed things out with some key lime pie that was really good, and the banana creme pie- my only complaint was that I wanted a bigger slice. This is a quaint but nice place nesseled into the mag mile, I highly recommend Southern Cut if you're looking for a carnivorous treat and more. I've visited all three Cut restaurants now, and you guys know great eating. Thanks

Sadly, poor service marred our experience. Waited a good while just for coffee, and after ordering breakfast, it took 25+ minutes. After I spoke with the hostess, stating I wished to pay for the coffee and juice but wished to leave without our meal, the breakfast appeared. Not worth the aggravation.
