Southern Cut Barbecue
Food was fantastic. Sara was our server and she was great! The ribs were so tender they feel of the bone. My wife had the pulled pork and loved it.
Disappointed in the quality of the service and food. The brisket was nowhere near the restaurant grade, especially at the cost and level expected from a Cut restaurant. Would not recommend.
Staff was nice and informative and the free birthday pie was great
Our granddaughter wanted ribs and ribs she got! Our group ordered other things as well, and no one was disappointed. Recommended highly!
Extreme delay in receiving food despite being one of the tables seated. Brisket hash came with only 3 small pieces of brisket.
Went for Sunday brunch and just loved it. Terrific menu, service, food-- all really good. We will be back!
Wasn’t sure what to expect. Food was good, made reservation and did not have to wait. The atmosphere was conducive to talking. Waiter was excellent.
I've been here for lunch several times and enjoyed it. For dinner, they were out of entries and refused to substitute. Being out of entries is bad enough, but then refusing to substitute is essentially saying that they don't care. Perhaps its the attitude of a hotel restaurant, but there are other incredible BBQ places in Chicago that care about their diners.
Service was horrible, the only time we truly saw our server is when he was looking for payment.
The staff at Southern Cut BBQ really took great care of us. Seated promptly, engaging server, thoughtful recommendations, the right ambiance and perfectly prepared food. It's now on our go to list for Chicago, downtown.
The food and service were superb. We were there at a quiet time of day which is exactly what we wanted. The Decour was functional and not opulent.
I will be back.
Day after wedding brunch. Service was great. Food was better. Can’t wait to go back.
Not enough staff to handle the amount of clientele in the restaurant waitress was absent for too long while we waited.
I had a good experience, but the “couch” where I was sitting made the table surface at armpit level. And I’m a strong believer that every BBQ place needs sweet tea.
Great food and service. Really enjoyed every piece. No leftovers due to everyone eating everything on their plate. Highly recommend.
Best ribs and Brisket ever. Loved the bread and butter pickles, too!
We made reservations for 7:30pm on Saturday night. We arrived on time and were seated right away which was nice. We ordered our drinks and spinach artichoke dip appetizer, which did not arrive until 8:20. Then
Very good menu selection. Nice atmosphere. Great food in a nice location.
They were spectacular with our kids! Wonderful experience!
This place is amazing. Quick, great vibes, music, etc. would have my wedding reception here(not literally but would consider) witness I had was really good looking but not only that, was very nice and a people person. Almost have to drop my gf to to get a chance with her lol(joking)
Love the environment and the manager was friendly and attentive. The food was beautifully presented but very bland-sauces and macaroni and cheese specifically had very little flavor.
Friendly, great neighborhood spot with excellent food and service.
Hair in my food. Enough said.
We ate at 4:30 so place was basically empty. We had 2 managers come to our table multiple times to check on us to the point where we could not keep a conversation going we were interrupted so many times.
The food was fair at best. Very little smoke flavor on the ribs. The max and cheese was the worst I have had in a long time. Zero flavor. Tasted like straight noodle, no cheese, no spice, no nothing.
On top of that, over $240 for bbc is crazy.
Wished I discovered this three years ago when they opened. Going back again very soon.
Best old fashioneds! And the bbq was amazing! Have already told many to go!
Made a last minute reservation to go here to meet my ma and sister before they went to a play nearby. We needed a quick great meal and that's exactly what we got. Service was good, food was good, and cool ambiance. I want to go back when I am not in a rush and can fully enjoy the meal.
Wow! What a gem, had a great dinner date the food amazing. I’m not a fan of coleslaw but I enjoyed every bite. Must order the cornbread. Definitely coming back and letting family & friends know.
We enjoyed a wonderful dinner prior to a show. Service was great and food outstanding. Wish we lived local so we could frequent more often.
We stay across the street at the Residence Inn and thought it would be nice to go somewhere close. The cornbread was some of the best I've had, pull pork was pretty decent, but it ended just about there. Brisket was dry and ribs were not that good. Service was subpar, consistently trying to flag someone down to help us. We won't be returning since there are so many more places to spend our moneybat in Chicago.
We went for a business meeting. The manager recommended the meat platter along with the jalapeño sausage. For side we had Mac and cheese. Everything was exceptional.
Loved Brianna and the staff! The pulled pork was delicious and moist, and we highly recommend the beet salad. It was quiet on a Thursday at 6pm, but service was fantastic and bar fully stocked! Great little neighborhood gem that’s off the tourist route. We’ll be back!
We had dinner here recently, and the service was excellent, as was the caramelized banana pie for dessert. They have a good selection of bourbons, with classic bourbon cocktails (mint juleps, milk punch, etc.), and the bar area is nice. However, the BBQ itself was not particularly good. I had both the pulled pork and the brisket, and both were rather mediocre, though the variety of sauces at the table helped.
BBQ for me means brisket. This was very good brisket. Tender, but not mushy, nice bark and smoke ring. Sides were hit and miss, great pickles, average slaw and disappointing beans. Beans were alright but the brisket mixed in was old and hard, bark isn’t supposed to be like tree bark. Nearly broke a tooth. Meal was good value for a 1/2 pound of brisket. Nice iced tea.
Bbq ribs were fork tender, wonderful jalepeno cornbread.
Pros: Prompt, friendly, and efficient service; not overly attentive... in a good way. Food served much faster than expected. Sandwich size was just ok, not an overly generous portion though a nice selection of BBQ sauces was offered.
Cons: Side dishes served with meal were ridiculously tiny to the point of why even bother? Restrooms are hard to find and a bit of a jaunt off into the adjoining hotel. Restrooms are NOT handicap accessible and have to question how that could happen in Chicago? No menu prices posted on website, but in actuality prices are in the $$ range.
Went for brunch and all of us enjoyed our food. To start we ordered deviled eggs and grits. Eggs were great and the crunchy chips on the plate were tasty, too. The grits could've used a little more attention to detail (cheese on top wasn't melted and the grits were not hot enough). The Smoked Brisket Hash Skillet was flavorful and satisfying but not hot enough. Ribs were a hit.
Overall everything was pretty good! Best tasting cornbread! Must be tried by all who go.
Very good experience
