The service was fantastic. This was my first time going and the food wad perfect. The ribs fell right off the bones. We did not have to wait long for our food to arrive after placing the order. It's a wonderful place for date night. Not to pricy but w well worth the money. I will definitely go again!
I liked the menu selection and the fact that the food wasn't oversmoked.
Excellent food, weak margaritas.
This restaurant is very welcoming. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I was meeting with a friend whom I had not seen for a couple of years and we had a lot of catching up to do. The wait staff was not pushy and allowed us more than ample time to chat before we placed our orders.
We both had their Brisket and Beans Chili as an appetizer. Not only was it absolutely delicious, it came with a small piece of their incredible jalapeño cornbread which is very tasty. My friend had a three meat platter and I had the chopped brisket and a jalapeño &cheese sausage link. All of our food was very tasty and it was enough so that neither of us had room for any dessert.
A very nice eating experience. You won’t go wrong with this restaurant.
We were there for lunch on a Thursday. Given that this was during a convention, I figured it would be full. However, the place was fairly quiet, which was fine, plus we did not feel rushed for them to turn the tables over.
Great barbeque for the middle of Chicago. We like it so much we went back a second night. Service is a little slow but then again I'm from NY!
Good food, service and atmosphere. Available beers were perfect to accompany their BBQ pulled pork, beef and chicken.
So disappointed in this place. Service was slow despite not being busy at all, we were served dirty glassware with our drinks, the server ordered the incorrect food for one of our guests, we were charged for the incorrect item and then told it was the same price as what was ordered so I had to ask her to double check. It ended up being a $4 difference so had we not said anything we would have paid for ribs and not the brisket. The brisket was terribly dry. While the manager was pleasant and attempted to make it right with a free dessert, the dessert we were sent home with (banana Creme pie) was near flavorless and tasted as if it was old. I hate to say it but we will never go back. Quite a shame. Lesson learned on this one. Just listen to the reviews!
Great service, nice staff. We were able to make a reservation online. We were greeted right away when we walked and we were able to sit at a table promptly. It was a very nice atmosphere. My only complaint would be your sandiwisches did not come with fries or chips, that was extra. However, the food was great and so were the portions.
Delicious food! Excellent BBQ! Drinks are good just need less ice.
Bonne bouffe mais notre serveuse n’était pas au rendez-vous. Accueil toutefois excellent, hôtesse gentille et attentionnée.
The food was good. But our biggest disappointment was the service. We felt that we were an intrusion to our server’s day. The service was slow and somewhat grudging. Our food was served, but we couldn’t eat it because we had to wait to be given our napkins and silverware. We had asked for it before and after the food was served. This was not a good way to spend our family Christmas Day dinner.
Went for a small bit to eat to hold us over till dinner. Parmesan garlic fries were very good. Spinach artichoke did was decent.
Won’t go back. My husband’s ribs were so so-nothing special. I ordered the burnt ends which I have had elsewhere and loved. Every single bite I took I had to discreetly spit out most-it was all gristle, no meat, couldn’t chew it. We also ordered 3 different sides to try....beans & cornbread were ok. Also ordered the garlic Parmesan fries and asked for them to be extra crispy. Arrived oily & soggy and we could not find a trace of garlic or Parmesan anywhere in the dish. On a positive note...our waitress was excellent! She removed the burnt ends from our bill which was a nice gesture.
The food is nothing special. It's not awful, but it's certainly not good. I had the sliced brisket. It was dry. My friend had the pulled pork. It wasn't actually pulled, it was chopped.
The service was good and they had a good selection of bourbon.
Considering everything, I certainly don't feel a need to go back.
Good just okay. Service not very attentive.
We stayed at the Hilton to take in some Xmas shopping. Breakfast was wonderful. Out later that day our children asked in unison “why don’t we just eat all our meals at Southern BBQ?”. We’ll be back.
Great service , great pancakes . Always quiet , well decorated for holidays. Bar is pretty terrific .
Eager servers even this late on Thanksgiving! Amazing, unbelievable, comfortable.
Dinner before Simon & Garfunkel musical
I wanted to like this place as my family loves BBQ. I'll preface my comment with the fact it was immediately after the Michigan Ave Holiday Lights parade and we just beat the rush, but it quickly got packed and chaotic in the restaurant.
On the plus, flavor of the ribs and pulled pork (sandwich) were very good - very good, not "knock your socks off". And the ambience/vibe was pretty cool - our waitress was very nice as well.
On the downside, the ribs were a bit dry, the brisket seemed more fatty than meaty and the overall service was suspect: forgot side sauces, extremely slow on the water refills - not good a BBQ place - and tables not well prepped (not all sauces were and condiments on table).
Maybe a bit knit-picky but for a city restaurant charging city prices, it was definitely an "under-delivered" meal.
Superb food and excellent service. Would highly recommend. Hotel restaurants are usually quite average but this is an exception.
Food and drinks were delicious. Poor acoustics made it difficult to hear in the restaurant. Service average and could be friendlier.
After hearing promotion on the Waddle & Silvie show for months, I finally had an opportunity to try Southern Cut. I brought my wife and some friends of ours from out of town, and everyone agreed that it was a wonderful choice. Food, drinks, ambiance -- everything was fantastic! I can't wait to go back and explore more of the menu!
Food was poor quality for price. The award winning ribs were so tough, it was difficult to cut with a knife.
There are better dining options available, that we will select next time.
Had a wonderful experience and the food was awesome
Tender and moist beef brisket. The ribs are very tender and fall off of the bone. Good BBQ sauces too.
We had an excellent meal and a very attentive server.
Our second time at Southern Cuts. We love the ambiance. The ribs and mac / cheese are our favorite items
Awful!!! Service was the worst I have seen.
Food fine, but felt a bit rushed along and the place was not full.
Our meal was excellent! The chopped brisket is the best I’ve ever eaten. Also, we were so happy our server suggested the cornbread...very yummy.
THis was our first visit. The food was very good. We will be back.
Only reason why it received 4 stars because the hostess came off as a little rude. Other than that everything else was phenomenal. Best part is the banana fofana cream pie
The food is consistently good but the service is consistently lacking. In addition to being slow for a pretty empty restaurant, there were 3 separate mistakes made with our order. This is similar to my last experience at the restaurant. A good spot if you are looking for good bbq, and don’t mind a few service hiccups along the way.
Party of 5
Good barbecue. , cornbread, baked beans
Service is excellent and friendly. Great menu with variety--something for everyone, from the vegetarian to the fish and meat lovers!
Always updating with specials as well. Good wine list, reasonable prices.
Food is always amazing. The restaurant employs a lot of international exchange students and those who need work visas. Unless you go very often, you probably won’t get the same server twice. Everyone is pretty nice in general.
