Southern Bistro at Chastain Park
Booked this place for Valentines Day dinner and had never been here before. The pictures looked like it maybe a charming little restaurant for a date night. We arrived and the staff was friendly and we were seated immediately. We were at the table for about three minutes and had time to take in the ambience of kids jumping around and the chaotic atmosphere. We simply got up and walked out and found a different place for our Valentines Day dinner.
This restaurant feels like a place you’d go for breakfast and a fast sit down lunch. The menus are in a plastic sleeve that is typical of a fast sit down restaurant. The place is chaotic like a Waffle House. The food on the tables next to us looked like upscale fast food on a plate instead of a tray. The location is in the Kroger grocery store parking lot. The interior lighting at dinner time was very bright and not cozy.
If you are going on a date night for dinner we suggest you look for a different place. If you want to bring the whole family out to dinner and not have anyone care that your kids are running around the table then this is a great place for you.
Fantastic dinner!!! Chef Justin NEVER disappoints!!! Staff was courteous and very attentive!!! We love this place!!!
We were seated in a side room which made for a nice quiet dining experience where conversation was easy. All three of us had the special, which was crab cakes, and they were great. Service was very good as well and I feel sure we’ll be going back again soon.
Alan. Our waiter is such a nice guy. Surely to put a smile on your face. His suggestion of the Brussels Sprouts were delicious. Great food always!.
We just love this place ! Great drinks, food and service.
The best pound cake around . Whew!!!
The pork chop is world class!
Prime Rib on Saturday nights always a great choice.
Save Room for the Pound Cake with Caramel icing served warm
Toffee Crunch pie.
Kettle One Cape Cod.
Great food and service, as usual!
The food was very good, but the service lacked quite a bit. We waited a long time for our beer. The salad came but the soup did not. It was brought out after a short wait. The entrees were brought before the salad was finished. The salad was picked up and taken away without asking if we were done. The waiter never checked back with us. He brought the check without asking if we were interested in dessert.
Excellent meal as always at this restaurant
First visit.. went for a birthday dinner. Overall rating for me was a 4. The appetizer-Brussel Sprouts- were amazing. Definitely worth going back. The staff were very nice and accommodating.
Quick friendly service, including recommending another, better wine, than I had picked, not more $$. Noise level alittle hi. Trout alittle salty. Best to make a reservation.
The food was up to its usual delicious standard and we were graciously allowed to linger at our table for quite a while after we finished our meal. Important, because we were just meeting each other in person, after months of on-line contact. Felt like home! Except none of us had to cook and clean up after! Many thanks! Note to file: Parking at Fountain Oaks on Fridays during lunch can be a challenge. You may want to factor that in to your arrival time.
I have been there many times before but they have definitely upped their game in terms of the food! Everything tasted delicious!
Top-notch, delicious southern meal. Everything is seasoned to perfection and the chef is the real thing. Complimentary biscuits are insanely good.
Great southern dining experience! Loved the trout. Tasty and prepared just right
Awesome, tasty comfort food; served by friendly and outgoing wait staff who are eager to please, in a relaxed and fun setting
We started as fans of Nancy G's and Southern Bistro is a great upgrade. It's still a great place for a family dinner or a date night. The menu is great - everyone will find something they love.
The atmosphere is cozy and the staff is fabulous.
We're glad Southern Bistro is part of our neighborhood.
Excellent, as usual. Service was great...and the fried chicken - WOW!!! Wonderful day to start the New Year!!
We went for traditional New Year’s Day brunch, it was amazing! The pork was so tender, the greens and black-eyed peas were so flavorful and of course the service was as always fantastic!’
They were out of the chicken Marsala special, but the grilled trout was excellent. My wife got vegetables and they were excellent, also. We loved the roasted Brussel sprout appetizer. It took a while to get our check, but our waiter was very busy. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.
Took my family to Christmas Eve dinner and it was delicious with excellent service, terrific tasting food and friendly staff. Salmon, Chicken Marsala were the favorites!
It was just ok... Probably would not go back. There are too many other restaurants to try.
Been going for years. Great neighborhood dining spot
Food always great
Great value, good food, very nice owner.
Great for the neighborhood. Too bad I live all the way down in Inman Park.
Always our "go to" before a Chastain concert, or Peachtree Pres., event. The North Georgia Trout is not to be missed.
We eat here at least twice a week- great neighborhood restaurant
Good food, decent value
The food was delicious and the service was great!
Great server and delicious food and drink
Decent place but I didn't think it was anything special or unusual.
So glad to know Nancy G is still behind this neighborhood fave! Southern Bistro has that warm feel • and the food is consistently delicious. My business associate and I both ordered salads - and the chicken & shrimp were cooked to perfection! Service is ‘on point’ and attentive - while allowing for privacy to conduct business. Nancy stopped by to make sure everything was perfect - such a nice touch. Perfect spot for dinner too!!
We made the mistake of eating at Southern Bistro during Sandy Springs Restaurant Week. The place was full, reservations were delayed because people were slow to leave, and three of the menu items (including two of the three special entrees) were gone. However, we had great food from the menu — chicken, lamb shank (new for fall). Etc. , a great server, and an apologetic hostess/owner. We’ll definitely be back.
Always enjoy our meals here at a true neighborhood restaurant. They have changed the menu somewhat and we find the new side dishes to the entrees less appealing but, then again, we liked the Farris and grains more than we like mashed potatoes.
Lee was fantastic and provided engaging fist class service. Did a special order for us which our diet appreciated. Didn’t rush us as we were catching up with friends. Thank you!
nice neighborhood restaurant...food is very good and have large portions.
We celebrated our daughter’s birthday and it was a special night with great food, great service and kind servers! Thank you
Salmon was very good and Jess our server was terrific.
One of our favorite spots - great food and service!
