Excellent shrimp & grits, attentive service, great ambiance. A lovely evening out.
Devine all around The waitress was so kind, helpful and nice. The other staff members were so attentive too. Thank you for a great evening. Great find.
My server was excellent
We had a great time at Southern Art! It's beautiful, and both the food and service were fabulous.
Great experience. The staff was great and the food was perfect.
John's service was great. All others in this restaurant acted like it was a chore to be there. Food ok, but would not return probably.
Went for brunch. The service was okay but the brunch menu was disappointing and the food was just okay. Explains why there was practically no one else there on an early Sunday afternoon.
My mother and I dined at The Southern Art and Bourbon Bar Saturday night. Our waitress Madison provided us with the best experience ever! She was super awesome! She was well versed when it came to the menu and gave us Great Recommendations! We will definitely be back. The entire staff was prompt and polite! They helped create a wonderful memory for my mother and I.
Excellent restaurant beautifully decorated and amazing food and service.
On Saturday, November 25, our son, was visiting from Wisconsin for the Thanksgiving Holiday. We wanted to share with him excellence in dining in Atlanta, and chose Southern Art & Bourbon Bar. It is a favorite for the consistency in the quality of the food, attractive decor, and, most importantly, the excellence in customer service. This visit our Server was Madison. She was new to us, and she provided the exceptional customer service we experience at Southern Art. She genuinely cared about our dining experience, and she made the evening a delight. Impressive!
Recommend the Fried Chicken, the Macaroni and Cheese (to die for), the Deviled Eggs, and the Apple Cobbler.
Under the direction of two-time James Beard Foundation award recipient and celebrity Chef Art Smith, Southern Art is a gem.
I had the fried chicken, brussel spouts and mash entree. The sides were pretty bland and the chicken had no flavor at all; just tasted like warmed meat. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable.
The cornbread was good, but pickles had no flavor.
The fried green tomatoes were too greasy and the crust too thick. The tomato jam very sweet. The greens were too salty.
The recommended shrimp and grits was overly spicy. Could not finish it.
My husbands cod was cold with no flavor and had bones in it.
The waiter recommended the red velvet cake highly but the cake was cold, dense and gummy with no flavor.
The restaurant was empty, but the service was slow. Had to ask for plates for our shared appetizer. Had to request the check. Long wait for cold dessert.
Expected more from a Michelin rated chef. Will not be back.
Overall excellent dining experience! My only recommendation would be better organization among the hosts. It took awhile for us to be greeted and seated with a reservation. However once we were the dining staff, the food, and the decor were made it worth the opening aggravation.
This Thanksgiving meal was just okay. There was a great variety of food but most of it was only warm and not hot. The turkey was dry but the kingfish made up for it. The best part was the dessert. I’m not sure that the offering was worth the amount of money spent. #disappointed
Went here for the Thanksgiving brunch and had a great time. Such a wide variety of options. I especially enjoyed the shrimp & grits.
Our family dines out every year for Thanksgiving. In the past, some restaurants have been good and some not so good but the Southern Art and Bourbon Bar was beyond EXCELLENT! The food was plentiful and every single dish was delicious - we tried them all! The variety of food was so appreciated but the adults and children alike - from the traditional turkey and stuffing to sushi, eggs benedict, and crab legs, there was something for everyone. There was a fun donut station and plenty to select from on the dessert buffet. We won't be searching for a new restaurant to try next Thanksgiving because we plan on returning to Southern Art and Bourbon Bar.
very pricey but it was thanksgiving day so not many places that are this nice for large groups . It is hard to serve this large a group and have the food to be perfect . The seafood and breakfast dishes were very good. Some of the meat dishes were not as hot as you might like but I understand how hard with the crowd size for each dish to be great, overall they did an excellent job but I find 100 dollars a plate to be very pricey for a buffet
Excellent food and service
Chris and Chris were outstanding !!! Food and service EXCEPTIONAL
The menu is mundane, boring, and the experience was just average and not as expected. Perhaps the expectations were entirely too high but when thinking of the Chef whose name it bears, I think something was simply missing that needs to be added back!
We were so looking forward to trying out this restaurant after reading the great reviews, but the experience was average. The decor was gloomy and dark, they advertised live music every Friday and Saturday, but there wasn’t any music, it was very quite and not very busy. The waitress was very friendly, professional and knowledgeable about the food. The fried chicken was ok, nothing to rave about, so was the shrimps and grits. The layered red velvet was absolutely terrible, tasteless and hard.
Wife and I visited for our 7th anniversary. Everything from the service, food, atmosphere was excellent! Top notch! We will be back.
The food and service was excellent!
I love this restaurant the fried chicken is fabulous also the mashed potatoes and biscuits. Wow I make sure I come her from palm beach just to eat here Plus I love this hotel
It was just a fantastic meal and good value
Gregory was wonderful and gave great service!
We went for a Birthday dinner for my mother. She totally enjoyed herself. The service is impeccable! I love dining at this restaurant. What a great experience that never disappoints!
The food and presentation were incredible.
Great food, great service and the bar is one of the best
The experience was really pleasant. The host and wait staff were very courteous and understood the menu very well.
You go for the food. Service was a bit below what should match this outstanding gastronomic experience. We were a group of 6 and everyone loved their meal. Hit the fried green tomatoes and truffle deviled eggs as appetizers. Shrimp and grits was rated the best ever!! Fried chicken was also superior. Large portions so no room for dessert. Don’t miss this gem.
Service was spectacular. Food fantastic.
On November 4th, my husband and I dined at Southern Art for dinner. Southern Art is a favorite dining spot for its consistency in the quality of the food, attractive decor, and, most importantly, the excellence in customer service. The Host set the tone with charm and friendliness. It is our good fortune that Christopher, who is known to us from prior visits, was our Server. He excels in his profession, and makes the dining experience perfect. Impressive!

Thank you! My first visit ensured that I'll be back for a second.
I was anticipating an excellent meal when I made the reservation. Unfortunately, the dining experience at The Southern Art and Bourbon Bar did not live up to my highly anticipated meal. First, the service was flat. There was no warmth or welcoming spirit by our server. When we asked questions about the menu, our server did not explain or promote the dishes. That should have been my warning sign that things were going to go downhill; because if the server cannot tell you that the food is good, it probably isn't. Next, the food was disappointing. We ordered the ham board and it only came with one type of ham and two types of salami. Maybe the appropriate name should be called the salami board. We both ordered fried chicken. Our meal arrived thirty minutes later (in an almost empty restaurant) and the chicken and mashed potatoes with gravy were cold...not even luke warm. Cold. I told the server who offered to heat our plates. However, after waiting thirty minutes for the food to reach our table. We refused to send the plates back to that kitchen. The chicken tasted bland and as though it had been cooked in old oil. Neither one of us ate all of our meal because we were so disappointed in our dining experience. I really hate leaving bad reviews; but, this one is for the record books. Mr. Smith, if you are reading this, please know that I am a big fan as I have seen you be so kind and professional on television. I really don't think you were back there in that kitchen on the night that my friend and I dined in your restaurant because I refuse to believe that you would send that food out of your kitchen. I will leave it at that being the reason because sir, I want to believe in you as a chef.
I took my wife for our anniversary and it was a perfect evening. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was elegant and the service was outstanding. The valet was friendly, the host was very welcoming, and our server was truly exceptional. Madison was our server and she went out of her way to make our experience special.
I have never done a review before, but I feel I must take the time to recognize this wonderful place as well as the superb service that Madison gave us.
We will certainly be back before our next anniversary.
We reserved a table, we were asked to confirm our reservation the day before which we did yet when we arrived there was no table ready, we had to wait 25 minutes passed our reservation time. The fActotum at the entrance made s complete mess of our reservation. Once we were finally seated we had to wait to get service. It took forever to get our order and in spite of the ridiculous amount of time my husband pancakes were mushy and under cooked.
Your assistant manager- Joshua - was very kind and solicitous but he couldn’t make up for the awful reception we received.
We wouldn’t recommend your restaurant
Booked breakfast reservation to take my son, the groom, to breakfast on his wedding day. The wedding party is staying at the hotel.
Reservation ignored and had to wait 20 minutes. Our waitress was lovely but the buffet was adequate. We decided not to order as the service we witnessed for prepared breakfast was extremely slow and we were already behind!
I WANTED to love it. But we didn't. Of coarse it's pricey but from a 2 time winning James Beard winning chef's restaurant, you expect that. I was thrilled that a number of gluten free options were available. And John, our waiter-turned-bartender was so fun!
Unfortunately, it took FOREVER to get our food. The lobster crab cake my companion had lacked....well...meat and she didnt finish it. The butternut squash was just okay. We loved the goat cheese potato puree and the filet was fantastic
I ordered the pork filet with roasted root veggies and cranberry gastric which was really what sold me on it. Those sides sounded the best to me. It was good but the pork was really tough. The root veggies and cranberry was wonderful tho.
