My guest and I both had the chicken and waffles. It was outstanding. Our service was so so. My guest actually had to call the manager over because we were sitting for 15 minutes before anyone came to our table to take a drink order.
This restaurant was suggested by a friend. We thought we were going for Brunch but were mistaken that it did not start until 12pm when the website states 11am. So we were given just the plain breakfast menu. It was three of us who dined and 2 of us had to wait over 30 minutes for our order. The waitress did not check back and was unaware that we did not get our food. Once we got our food it was ok. I had the grits and eggs and they were good, the pancakes with peaches were also ordered at the table. They were delicious once they came to the table. I am not sure if it was an off day, however, I am told it is the usual service for this restaurant.
Nice ambiance but the tables were a bit small and cramped next to other diners. My wife and I are eating on a ketogenic plan. After researching many menus I ended up choosing this place based off of the posted menu online. Upon arriving most of the options we had planned on getting were not on the current menu. I understand that menus change often but should be updated to current more frequently. We ended making due and just eating off plan a bit for the occasion. The food was pretty good. We ordered the deviled eggs which our server never brought and a charcuterie board. The meats were great. My wife had the filet subbing Brussel sprouts for the potatoes. Her steak was way undercooked for medium the brussel sprouts were undercooked almost hard as well. I had the Seabass which was great as well. Then they brought us dessert for my wife’s birthday... it was not her birthday nor do we eat sugar. Oh well. The bourbon pecan pie is probably amazing.
The restaurant was dated, service was outstanding, food left a lot to be desired for.
The salt in the spinach which was the bed for the salmon was way too much, such that it tasted very bitter. The shrimp & grits was very spicy. Now, the side dish of sweet potatoes was amazing and great. Loved it.
My suggestion would be to at least sand and polish the table edges and remove the plastic meats hanging/on display in the waiting area.
Food was great. Waiter (I think his name was Gregory) was attentive and solid. Everything was on point. Not a single complaint on our end.
Went to Southern Art to celebrate my son’s birthday. He is a bourbon fan. He really enjoyed the Bourbon flight and they were flexible and allowed him to substitute one that he previously tried for a new one. The new one, an Atlanta produced bourbon, was excellent. The recommendations for dinner were very good. The service was outstanding. Management came by to make sure everything was OK. They gave us information about an upcoming event.
In addition to the bourbon flight, two of us had a great cocktail.
I will definitely return with local friends and out of town guests.
Southern Art is possibly my favorite restaurant I have been to since living in Atlanta. The atmosphere is great, the staff is incredible, and the food is absolutely amazing. Chef Art Smith brings his own twist to classic comfort food; adding the elegance for a special date night, and brilliant flavors, while preserving all the comfort you expect. With a great selection of wine and bourbon (whisky) and a fantastic dessert menu, this restaurant has immediately become one of my favorites and I will be going back in the future.
My Mom’s 95th Birthday
Great soup and entree. Great waiter. I can’t wait to go back.
Real quality meal with quality service, had a very classy time.
I wish I came here on a normal day for their menu. I came on Valentine’s Day and their menu for this day was a little disappointing. My husband got the fried hen which he barely ate and our server didn’t even ask why. I got the salmon and it was decent. Nothing special about it. The desserts were lovely. I ordered the “death of chocolate” but they ran out so he ended up giving me two desserts, which was nice.
Food was good, but not amazing. Service was superb, though.
Over priced for quality of food, but sommelier was great and wine was quite enjoyable.
This is my second time here, and the food is delicious though pricier than similar restaurants in the Atlanta area. Especially love the fried chicken and fried Cornish hen. The wait staff is friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu.
Great menu for Valentines Day.
Great experience here from the time we walked in to the time we left!!
