We were traveling from Missouri for our annual trip to the Atanta Americasmart and so happy to have found Southern Art. The food was what we were after: creative Southern flair from a celebrity chef.
Most importantly, however, our waiter Chris made the evening perfect! So professional, friendly, and played along with our desire to point out an error on the cocktail menu. Two drinks with different names had the same ingredients listed. They both appeared to be some type of Old Fashioned. "What is the difference between these two drinks?" I asked. Chris said he didn't know, because when he had asked the same question of the bar manager awhile ago, he didn't receive an answer. Okay. Let's do an experiment. I ordered both drinks, and one was clearly not made with the ingredients listed. (Came with rye and lime and crushed ice.) Chris kindly agreed to my request to send it back, and then returned to our table with a happy grin on his face. The menu had a typo, and no one besides Chris had noticed it. "You made my night! Thanks so much!" he said. Since the error was pointed out by a customer, the bartender and manager were now paying attention to him! Problem solved, drink made properly, and the rest of our meal was served and enjoyed with lots of cheer. We will be back, and request Chris for sure!
Loved bar area AND were seated in dining area after all! Everything was extraordinary! Ambiance! Service! Food!
The food was delicious! Order the buttermilk fried chicken - their signature dish. Amazing.
The service was excellent. Our server Madison was great. Highly recommend the salmon and fried chicken.
Note: this is a hotel restaurant who doesn't serve Brunch on Saturday. It was highly rated but the food was only ok and very expensive for Atlanta for breakfast. Coffee was great. Much better places for breakfast or brunch in Atlanta.
great food outstanding service so glad i tried this through travelzoo first. will definitely be back
We were on a girls’ trip with our mother and chose this restaurant because it was close to our hotel. The service was outstanding! Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. The salad with pomegranates and bleu cheese was incredible as were the roasted Brussels sprouts. The cocktails were also great but a little pricey. We would certainly visit again!
Food was a bit cold and it was just ok. Biscuits were hard and crusty like they were left overs. Fried Chicken wasn’t as delicious as I thought it would be in the South. Service was good and the staff very pleasant.
The menu listed online was outdated so we expected more items, so the menu was very limited. We were told the menu online hasn’t been updated so just be aware.
On another note, the service was top notch.
signature dish of fried chicken was ok, nothing special, especially when compared to Roswell's Table and Main and ATL's Busy Bee Cafe. The Diner chocolate cake was a joke(for $9). It was a 1"x 4" x 3" high of nothing special cake. Good thing this was a Groupon.
While they are known for their great fried chicken, I had the braised short ribs and they were absolutely amazing. I am still thinking about them. Also, don't forget to get their signature red velvet cake with 11 layers(I think). Definitely recommend trying Southern Art out!
Person checking us in couldn’t find our open table reservation so couldn’t check us in and my note that it was a Birthday dinner was lost in translation 😩
Great Menu! Ordered halibut .. very fresh but alas over cooked so tasted dry. However my husband braised tip was excellent he tells me.
Not sure if I would return.. sorry.
The service was great and a good brunch selection for the price point. They accommodated our large group without hesitation. I especially appreciated the valet parking being included.
very good; we enjoyed the dining experience before welcoming 2019.
We had a fantastic meal at Southern Art. Service was great, food was delicious and the restaurant in beautiful!
My girlfriend is a Dr. and has been searching for a position in Ga to practice in the next few months. I called the bourbon bar ahead of time and spoke to Brandon who promised that things would be taken care of on the eve of new years for us. From the service at the door to the food... everything was amazing . Our server Chris took great care of us and the chef also came out to congratulate her in advance for finding something soon. Even the manager took time to greet us and ask a little about our story.
I will be back, soon. If the staff can see this, thank you.
Every dish was great, bread, salad, starter and entree. Did not have room fir dessert. Lived upto its reputation.
Treated work colleagues to a holiday luncheon. Table was available and restaurant was quiet. Our waiter was not efficient in that he failed to refill drinks and /or bring drinks when asked. Offered ranch dressing instead of ketchup for fries and genuinely seemed disengaged although he only had 2 tables. Otherwise the food was tasty.
Kurt our server was great
This was my second Christmas Day visit to the restaurant so I have only experienced the Christmas brunch which costs over $100 plus tax and gratuities. The wait staff was attentive and pleasant. The food is located in two separate areas. Personally, I like a more assembly line approach with appetizers/salads/entrees/sides and desserts plus a separate place for breakfast items. The food choices I made were very tasty and inventive such as cauliflower and goat cheese. For the second year, the desserts were not that great. I listened to the two people seated at the table to my left and they weren't overly pleased with them either. I can't rate the regular lunch and dinner menus since I haven't experienced them.
This is the second time that we’ve dined for Christmas brunch and we thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the brunch.
The Christmas buffet was a beautiful, elegant experience. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly; and the food interesting, varied and well cooked.
Great fun and service, very attentive and good food and drink selections.
Booked for Christmas eve dinner, looked online and the menu looked wonderful - wide variety of dishes and they specialize in charcuterie. Showed up to a mostly empty dinning room and was promptly seated in the far back corner under a set of canned lights that made if feel as though I were on stage. Asked waiter if lights could be slightly dimmed - never happened. Now the menu, only four entree’s, that’s right only four: shrimp n grits, salmon, fried chicken and a pork tenderloin. No red meat and certainly not the 16oz ribeye, bourbon braised lamb shank or petite filet that is still listed on their website. Guess I’ll have the chicken, because fried chicken or shrimp n grits aren’t available anywhere in Atlanta (sarcasm).
I then asked our waiter about a charcuterie menu, because again according to their website they have:
“Southern Art features an artisan ham-and-charcuterie bar to showcase the strong craft and long-standing traditions of regional country hams. Featuring more than 14 different hams from across the South including Caw Caw Creek, Friendly, Olli and Surryano, guests are able to choose from smoky, salty, dry, sweet and soft-textured custom cuts.”
Guess what, no charcuterie.
Our waiter could see by the expression on our faces that we weren’t impressed with the menu and asked what was wrong, we informed him we were disappointed with the menu and what wasn’t available, he apologized and said that he had heard there was a discrepancy on the website. We told him no big deal and we just wanted to proceed with our meal, it was after all Christmas eve.
Service was good (Michael) and the food was good - not great by any stretch (there was four of us so we sampled the entire entree menu). I am surprised that they have made it at the location they are in as long as they have. Will not be back.
We made reservations for Christmas Eve Dinner based on the menu that was posted on The Southern Art website. It Stated"Christmas Eve Dinner 2018-Regular Menu and Special Offerings". Based on our family review of the menu, we booked a month in advance. When seated, we observed it was not the regular menu nor were there an special offerings. They had 4 entree selections and most of the appetizers including their "Ham Bar" were not available. We had eaten there for dinner several times before and Christmas Day of 2016 and we were pleased as everything that was advertised was on the menu. We were very disappointed this year though and when brought to the attention of the manager, he really could not give us an answer as to why they had not reposted the amended menu online. He did comp us with 1 appetizer. The food was still very good and the waiter was awesome. However, I will not dine here again on a special occasion as we were all disappointed with the lack of menu choices.
Me and my wife enjoyed our 10 year anniversary dinner food was delectable drinks were amazing service was awesome definitely would recommend this to anyone we will be back
Enjoyed the food. A little pricey for drinks. Service was excellent.
We had a wonderful time at Southern Art. Our waiter, Kurt, was quite attentive from start to finish. We had 3 different events to celebrate: a birthday, an anniversary and a graduation. To help us celebrate, we were given champagne for a toast and they decorated each dessert plate to recognize each event. We were quite pleased with our dinners, dessert and service. We will definitely continue to dine at Southern Art.
The service was very good. She was attentive and friendly. The appitizers were very good. The meals (braised short rib and halibut) were okay.
Kurt our server was excellent. Really enjoyed the food and great service
Great food service and ambience! Definitely coming back
Excellent birthday dinner for our group of 4, my wife loved it. Great bourbon list. The fried chicken was absolutely fantastic, as were the sides and the cornbread.
The food was good. But when I arrived they gave me a much more limited menu that does not match what is posted here or on the website. The host informed me I could do the buffet instead but told me an incorrect price which made the total much higher than anticipated. Just disappointing that this was misleading - the food buffet was still great quality.
Excellent shrimp & grits, attentive service, great ambiance. A lovely evening out.
Devine all around The waitress was so kind, helpful and nice. The other staff members were so attentive too. Thank you for a great evening. Great find.
My server was excellent
We had a great time at Southern Art! It's beautiful, and both the food and service were fabulous.
Great experience. The staff was great and the food was perfect.
John's service was great. All others in this restaurant acted like it was a chore to be there. Food ok, but would not return probably.
Went for brunch. The service was okay but the brunch menu was disappointing and the food was just okay. Explains why there was practically no one else there on an early Sunday afternoon.
