    food was amazing. it did take longer than expected to be seated but I am not sure that was the restaurants fault since the party before us was having an issue with their check. they kept the bar open a little later since we were seated late and the waitress was very attentive.

    Phenomenal service and excellent food. Te experience is next level and the live music is an absolute vibe. We celebrated my girlfriend’s birthday here and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

    I was here with a friend for a restaurant week. Each course was delicious. Pictured here is the fried green tomatoes which were absolutely out of this world In all aspects of the dish,- presentation, blending of flavor s and overall taste. I meant to photograph the rest of the meal , but I was too busy enjoying the food. The live jazz music in the background added to the ambience in a most pleasant way.

    Had reservations and it took them 35 minutes to seat us …. Besides that everything was amazing we loved our waiter , food was great and didn’t take long … vibes were nice I will be back .

    Husbands birthday. Your not actually in the jazz section witch was very disheartening. The website was not clear about having to purchase tickets for the jazz. Very upsetting. It was beautiful but the tables were extremely small. The the food was good but over hyped. Service took forever to get drinks and food. It was an ok experience but not sure if i would go back.

    The ambiance was fantastic from the sidewalk entrance to the table. We were warmly greeted with beautiful smiles. Our server was attentive and well-versed. The appetizers and entrees were outstanding. The cornbread, mac & cheese, fried chicken, short ribs, deviled eggs, and birthday dessert were delicious! We will be back!!

    This was my second time being at South. The food was excellent, just as my first experience. We were able to hear the live music which was great. Our server and staff were excellent. Black Excellence is what I would call South!!🥰

    My husband went for our 9 year wedding anniversary and it was amazing. We had Mac and cheese, cornbread, and collard greens to share. My husband got catfish and shrimp, I got gumbo and fried green tomato. For dessert we got pineapple bread pudding with graham cracker ice cream. It was all absolutely incredible. Before you even walk thru the door it no longer feels like you are in Philly. It was gorgeous and the food was the best I've had in a long time. My husband and I will definitely be coming back, hopefully to the jazz bar!

    Our reservations were 7:30 . We were seated a bit late . Before we can even look at the menu the amazing managers came to offer us complimentary cornbread and starters due to the wait to be seated. They were pro active , courteous , professional , just amazing . Our waiter Markeith was amazing As well. He provided suggestions for menu items he enjoyed to give us insight into the options . He was efficient and I just wanted to give them all of my money . Best dining experience ever

    My husband and I had a great time. The food and vibe were great and our waitress Kayla was amazing. She was super sweet and although she was very busy she was attentive. We never felt like she wasn’t available to assist.

    Went to celebrate a friend’s birthday and South did not disappoint. Aside from the stunning decor and ambiance, the service, food and drinks were top notch. We sat in the dining room next to the jazz club so we were able to enjoy the music as well - which was an added bonus. Will definitely return!

    Our first time! We came to celebrate my sisters Bday. Food came to the table within minutes super fast. The temperature of the food was perfect nice and hot! Drinks were perfect. Strong but had a great flavor. The food was seasoned to perfection. Our waitress was the best. She offered new drinks and refills as soon as we finished with the ones we had. She was on point, friendly, beautiful and attentive. She received the biggest tip we have ever gave before. She deserved it! I would recommend this place to anyone and we will be returning. The lights and ambiance is really pretty at night as well.

    Food was amazing but the best part about dinner at South was the exceptional customer service. It’s little things like just being friendly and efficient that go a long way. Best dining experience I have ever had from a waitress.

    The menu is very limited. The drinks were delicious. The cornbread was dry but full of flavor, Mac and cheese was good, collard greens had maybe a curry/sweet flavor and we did not enjoy, catfish/shrimp dish lack flavor and the tomato paste made it inedible, chicken gumbo was lukewarm but delicious, salmon dish was delicious, and the sweet potato cheesecake was mediocre. The service was overall good. They only issue I had was I barely touched the catfish/shrimp dish and while my waitress offered to get me a new dish she didn’t so much as offer a discount or anything for future use in place of it. I’m uncomfortable ordering food from a kitchen after I’ve returned food and everything else filled me up at that point. I also requested in my rsvp for a desert with a candle to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday of which was noted because the hosted confirmed but it never came. It was nice to come but I personally don’t feel I have to return.

    This time the waiter was slow-he may have been new-but he was super friendly. Our fired chicken was super greasy-1st time this happened. it was still marinated well. had to take home place on napkins and remove skin to calm down the grease but tasted great after that. Always a great ambiance!!!!
