South Market - Pensacola
It was Easter Sunday we wanted to sit outside but were unsure of the weather so didn’t request outside seating. We sat inside which was nice. Our server Austin was great he kept our beverage glasses full. He gave us plenty of time to decide what we wanted to order. Food was served in a reasonable amount of time as the restaurant was busy. The food was delicious!!! They let us keep our tab open so the kids could play outside. They didn’t rush us to leave ...overall South Market made it a great Easter brunch for our family!!! We will be back!!!
Service was slow, waiter never took our drink order, had to flag him down. Ordered the shrimp & grits, shrimp was really good but the grits were very bland. Husband ordered the fish tacos, the tacos tasted stale. Would not go back.
Wonderful as always
Loved this place! We have lots of allergy issues and I loved that everything down to the (delicious) dressing for the salad is made in-house. Our waiter was great and the food was amazing! Will definitely return!
This was my second visit. The first visit in 11/18 was very nice. This visit we had good service and poor food quality. The grits in the shrimp and grits were very poor. They were dry and almost inedible.
My friend had corn beef hash that was late to the table, potatoes were way undercooked, corn beef was sliced. I would hardly call it hash.
Unfortunate as I wanted to impress my friend with some local cuisine.
We went to South Market last Saturday night. Cocktails were great, the appetizers were tasty and dinner was delicious. The atmosphere is a little rustic/quirky but if you haven’t tried it, you are missing out!
In my opinion South Market provides a very attractive and unexpectededly charming atmosphere to do brunch, however the food and service was less than impressive. My friend and I were seated immediately, but we were waiting at our table to be attended to for 15 minutes before someone came and took our drink order. The waiter also sat down at the table to take the drink order and seemed a little overwhelmed. The restaurant did not seem busy enough for any of the servers to be “in the weeds”, but I could be wrong. I ordered the “Shrimp and Grits” from the brunch menu and was dissatisfied with the textures of my dish, but very pleased with the flavors. The shrimp were seasoned to perfection. The grits were under-done. It would have been a much more enjoyable dish if they were creamier. My friend and I also ordered “bottomless mimosas”. The servers made sure to keep the champagne flowing, but had to be reminded to bring any of the juice options. The champagne tasted to be Brut and was not very enjoyable (to me) on its own. All in all, I would visit South Market again to try different menu options because the flavors of the dish I ordered definitely had potential. And because a lot of my dissatisfaction was in direct relation to personal preferences, I would definitely encourage others to give South Market a shot.
Great place for friends to meet and catch up on life and share good times.
Nice atmosphere, and good vibe overall. Was immediately seated upon arrival. However, Food was not hot at all which was disappointing because it had a good flavor. All staff was friendly and helpful. Took too long to get our silverware though. Will definitely be back for a second try, but want the food served HOT.
Service was polite, but very slow. Poached eggs were completely cooked through and cold.
Wonderful food! Great service! Will be back!
My husband and I went too South Market on Valentine's Day. We did not know before arriving that they were doing a limited menu. As I have food allergies, this made eating challenging, and being charged $45 dollars a person, was too much. My dinner was a plate of spaghetti and meatballs, it tasted fine, but definitely not worth $45. My husband ended up eating my appetizer because it had shellfish in it. I also had to have my dessert sent back because it was served with strawberries (not as described in the menu). The waitress was friendly, service was good, and we will most likely go back. However we will always check to see if they are going to have a special menu first.
Valentines Day & my wife’s Birthday. In special request of reservation, I requested a booth & mentioned it was a birthday (my wife’s 65th). When we checked in, host attempted to seat us at a non private table in middle of restaurant. I noticed restaurant was ~ 1/3 full @ 8 PM & requested host seat us at one of the 4 booths currently open (note all occupied booths were two people only). Waiter provided good service, however, food (spaghetti & meat balls) arrived cold. Sent food back & ~10 minutes later received warm food. Food was very mediocre (cafeteria quality). We would never recommend anyone eating there!!
Service was fabulous honestly pretty awesome.... but sadly the drinks were really bad. The food was edible but not great. It was ok. Ambiance is nice and relaxing.
What a treat to find South Market! We will have to make a special trip back to Pensacola just to go here. I have to eat gluten free and could have almost anything on the menu. I loved my crab cakes and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his pork ribeye. We also liked the fun atmosphere, reasonable prices and the selections on the wine list.
Reservation was at 1pm, orders placed by 1:15. Did not receive food until after 2:30. Burger was overcooked, loaded grits were bland, not seasoned. Meatloaf was ok, side of greenbeans needed seasoning. Loaded hash was good. Never got a good explanation for the huge delay. Did compensate with 50% off food ordered, not drinks.
A Sunday brunch for the girls— it was delicious and a great experience!
Good food drinks and service
We have given this restaurant many tries hoping the food would improve, buy sadly it's just not good. Food was cold and not appetizing. It's really sad because we wanted another option for dining downtown. Will still go for drinks maybe, but no more to eat.
Good food and atmosphere.
Amazing ambiance...great food, craft beer, select whiskey bourbons and cocktails available. The staff was great and accommodating. We tried this place out for my Husbands 40th Birthday. They didn’t disappoint. This restaurant is perfect for any occasion big or small...fancy or casual. We’ll be back soon!!
Our second visit and did not disappoint. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Karyn our server was especially helpful.
Very pleased with menu and service.
French dip is the best in town, but the fries were cold on every plate.
Went on the recommendation of a friend. SO glad I did! We were served by Karen who was wonderful and the food is really delicious, pricing spot on. Go eat here! Location is fantastic too!
Another good experience here. The food is great. Our server, Karen, was on point with recommendations and service. South Market has become one of my favorites.
Great food, fast service. Only issue was temperature. We were all so hot, we got sick and could not finish our food. We literally had sweat dripping down our back. Had to ask our waitress to turn the heat down and air on. She did and we cooled down but left sweaty.
Our server Karen was wonderful, food was great!
Went for Sunday Brunch - food was delicious. Servers kept our bottomless drinks filled. Fun place that we will visit again.
We went for brunch/early lunch on a Saturday and it was quiet. Had an amazing cocktail, and the meatloaf is some of the best we’ve ever had. Service was great and we’ll absolutely go again when we return to Pensacola.
Best Hummus you will ever have—seriously.
For an appetizer I ordered the spinach and artichoke dip (recommend). I ate there for lunch so I ordered the grilled shrimp with the house salad and the jalapeño soup (I wasn’t very hungry). It was good! I would go back for dinner and order one of their actual entree’s and a craft cocktail.
No ambiance. Wooden tables, benches, chairs. Food lacked taste and was lukewarm. Wine & beer list was unremarkable and it is adjacent to a local brewery!
Awesome time at South Market. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Our waiter was attentive and personable. We will definitely be back!!
Staff and management are wonderful, food simple but high-quality with lots of gluten-free free options throughout the entire menu...great place to catch lunch any day!
I have eaten at South Market a few times. Each time I have had an excellent meal. Last time I was there, Karyn was our wait person. She did an excellent job. We made a reservation and our table was waiting for us. The food was awesome, great service. Would recommend and plan to eat there again.
This was our second visit with a relatively larger group. We were sat immediately. Menu options are absolutely amazing, especially for someone with severe food allergies. I have celiac and was informed the owner also does- almost everything on their menu is either gluten free or can be made gluten free. The portion sizes are well worth the price and the food is absolutely delicious. We have been fortunate in having an incredible server; Karen on both occasions. She’s so warm and friendly and has very extensive knowledge of the areas and menu. This has easily become our favorite spot! Definitely check this place out if you are in downtown Pensacola. You won’t be disappointed!
