South Market - Pace
Casual atmosphere for lunch or dinner. Has a bar for seating if desired and large wooden booths (up to 8 seated) as well as tables for 2-4. Good is always well prepared. I’d give it 5 stars if they had one vegan option on the menu. More of us are avoiding meat and dairy and adding a
Vegan option that changes weekly as a special would be awesome! I’d go more frequently. Now I eat a salad while my friends have their meat option.
Restaurant was not super busy and there was a choice of three selections for Valentines Day. Their cocktails are amazing and we enjoyed the appetizer...lovely steak with Gouda on toast rounds. All three of us ordered the steak. The sides, Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes, were outstanding. Sadly all three of our steaks were over cooked by a good amount Medium rare was medium well, and Medium did not even have a streak of pink. I want to love this restaurant. It has a different ambience and a wonderful addition to the limited restaurants in Pace. I’ve had a few amazing meals there, but also some disappointments especially with beef. I hope they become more consistent in entree preparation, but I would still recommend this restaurant. The service is always quite good.
Went for brunch, the food was not hot as should be plate was cold. My husbands was not much better just not too impressed.
I am sure we will give it another try but this time disappointing.
Excellent food and service
Great experience, Food was delicious and service was excellent.
I tried to order the pork ribeye ad was told they were out. It was Saturday at 6:30 p.m. My appetizer of chicken Florentine flatbread was cold. My daughter had ordered grilled chicken fingers. They were dry and unseasoned served with potato chips. I had the steak chimichurri, which was actually good. The decor was moderately interesting. One bright spot was my waiter Aaron, he was very nice...
They didnt have my open table reservation when I showed up and attempted to turn my party away until seeing my confirmation. I felt like the hostess was attempting to tell me I had the wrong location even though it said PACE. I then waited for 30 for a table to free up. What I found most interesting is they made me wait while having a ton of free tables and a bunch of people standing around.
Once we got to the table, the lady that served us was nice. Maintaining a restaurant in Milton/Pace is difficult. I have watched plenty come and go. Maybe focus on customer service a little more.
I was a bit disappointed, in the bar service, they couldn't make one of their specialty Drinks, a Manhattan or a dirty martini & when you pay $65.00 for a bottle of California Cab, please don't serve it in a cheap wine glass, it deserved a better. but it could have been off night at the bar. Other than that, the food was excellent, I highly recommend the pork rib eye, best I've ever had.
Was in the area and online menu looked promising and better than fast food options in the area. Big mistake. Took an hour and a half to get a simple chicken sandwich, causing me to me late for my next appointment. Service was indifferent and painfully slow. Food was average. Given the lack of decent competition in the Pace area, this place should have an easy road to success. From my experience and the nearly empty lunchtime dining room, this is sadly not the case. Avoid.
We had an awesome Thanksgiving meal at South Market this year. The buffet included Turkey, Ham, Prime rib and all the fixings plus 4 or 5 desserts. Every thing was fabulous and the service was superb. We will definitely be back soon. Thanks for a great dining experience!
Food was tasteless. What was ordered was not at all what menu said. When pointed out to waitress, she said she had no idea that was what was supposed to be in/on the dish. She brought it to the chef who was also clueless.
Great food & drinks without the drive to Pensacola!!
We always that enjoy going to South Market. It’s a great neighborhood gem. They have a wide selection of wines and craft cocktails. My favorite dishes are probably been pork ribeye and the meatloaf.
Small and appealing. Menu is large enough for choice, yet small enough to do each item perfectly.
This was the second time we ate there and the menu is a great selection of amazing dishes!
Not going to go into details. It was not a great meal. Not worth the trip from Cantonment.
Food was ok meatloaf was very dry and very very crisp around edges had to ask for additional sauce to help with dryness. Bread pudding was not good white bread chunks throughout not even soaked Appetizers were good chicken flatbread and spinach artichoke dip. Tiramasu was good but the salted caramel cheesecake was the best. Unfortunately you asked for my review and the waiter did not even have a reservation in the system. I will give them a second chance as others had said it was good.
I feel like this restaurant has potential but they charge too much for their portion sizes and selections. I had the Ahi Tuna salad...the tuna was cooked perfectly but it was served on a bed of romaine lettuce with only 2 toppings (some listed on the menu were missing) so I would rate is as "fair" for the price. I hope they improve, as I love supporting locally-owned businesses and prefer upscale food selections.
Our waiter not very knowledgeable of the specials and only mentioned them when asked. Disappeared after taking our order. At one point in the evening the entire wait staff disappeared for over 10 minutes. Food wasn't bad but small portions for the price. Atmosphere was nice. No need for a reservation....the place was almost empty.
This is by far the best food I have had in Pace! Such a great little place to get a really good meal. They have an awesome pork chop ribeye that was so tender and flavorful. Brussels sprouts were on point, as were the spiralized veggies and blackened shrimp. A good Tim was had by all in our party. We will definitely be going back!!
They did my pecan encrusted snapper, gluten free!
It was fantastic. Colin paid special attention to us because
Cooking the pork was a little slow. He told us it took extra
Time and took care of us. Really good service over all.
We were very disappointed in the food. I had a fish dish. The fish was not fresh, I suspect frozen with a very poor flavor profile. The collards were good. The vegetables were mostly onions. My wife had a grilled chicken salad with no seasoning on the chicken. We had heard favorable recommendations but were very disappointed, especially for the cost.
Great new addition to Pace; I highly recommend South Market. The variety of food that we enjoyed was fresh, delicious. The service was excellent. There is outdoor seating that we took advantage of owing to a very loud group inside. My hope is that all restaurants will start to install noise absorbing panels when no other sound absorbing fabrics or materials are used. Parents . . . letting your children yell and laugh at the top of their lungs is not considerate of the other diners who have also made the effort to go out for a nice experience. I imagine this is a tough issue for restaurant owners to manage.
Great menu options with a wide variety of foods. Everything we ordered was well prepared and tasted great.
We have eaten here twice. Both times were an awesome experience. The ambiance is great when you walk in. Of course, having a hand crafted house cocktail is a must. We tried a few different ones, and each was a unique combination, but great! While on our first visit, I absolutely loved (and devoured) the blackened shrimp and grits. This last visit l, we had the ahi tuna app and it was cut too thick, too warm, and had a couple bones... which I know happens, but you wish it wouldn't. Still didn't ruin the night, just my only peraonal issue about the great little neighborhood find. It's almost one of those places you hope no one finds out about because you want it to yourself, but also want it to survive so you tell friends they HAVE to try it. We were able to play a couple of the many provided boardgames, at the table and also some Uno. Both times our servers were informative, attentive, and all around great! I highly recommend South Market, and will DEFINITELY be back.
Always great food and service when we go to South Market. Nice little gem in Pace, FL.
So glad we found this little gem! Food was amazing, service was great and we loved the ambiance.
We love South Market and couldn’t wait to take our family while they were here for the holidays. They were just raving about the food afterwards. It’s a favorite for everyone now.
Food was very good. Started with crab cake appetizer which was well worth the price. It was nicely seasoned with just the hint of a peppery kick. I had the steak chimichurri and it was nicely done but a small portion. My husband had the pork ribeye (medium well) and it was excellent. Both entrees were priced the same and for the money his was the much better one. Our sides were the chef's potatoes and chef's vegetables. The former was mashed red potatoes. I'm not a mashed potato fan but these were better than most. The vegetables were sauteed summer squash (yellow and zucchini) in garlic and oil. They were very tasty and better prepared than most places offer. It was very evident that much thought and care went into the preparation of our meals. We wanted to try the tiramisu but it was sold out--our reservation was for 6:30 so I suspect it says good things about this offering to have it gone so early in the evening. The menu is not extensive. What we saw served at other tables leads me to believe this is a good thing for what they offer, they do well here. The atmosphere was a little noisy for our taste but not overly so. If you want absolute quiet to converse this isn't the place. If you don't mind background 80s music and conversations drifting across from other tables you will not mind a bit. On a positive note there is no kitchen noise to speak of so I like that. While I think this is a place children will find comfortable, I probably wouldn't take very young children (under 3 or 4) as there is not a lot of space for them to be noisy in and not disturb other diners. As we live in Santa Rosa county, we like to spend our dining out money on locally (or mostly locally) grown establishments. This will certainly be added to our regular rotation.
What a great experience. The ambiance was neat, the service was friendly and prompt, and it is nice to have a place like this in the Pace area. The food was perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented. lt would be a great place to drop in after work for a drink, as well as for lunch or dinner.
