South Kitchen + Spirits - Nocatee
Very loud. Hard to carry on a conversation. Food was fine, not gormet.
Excellent food and cocktails. Half price happy hour, including everything 3-5PM, makes for a low cost meal
The food is over-rated. They charged incorrectly - making the kids meal ala carte vs their set fee - something I didn't notice right away. They had told us we are "good to go" with food my husband can eat with a nut allergy but after we ate there once, we came back and now we're told after everyone ordered, that he can't eat anything with bread or baked. Which is it? Is it safe or not? It's not a joke with a nut allergy. Just way overpriced for what we got.
Perfect place to gather with friends. Great food.
I had heard good stuff about thus place but don’t really recommend it. Limited sandwich menu, . Just another restaurant
They were very accommodating when we switched from a patio table to a booth indoors. The food was excellent as always and the drinks were tasty.
We totally enjoyed it. We brought our mini goldendoodle and it’s was a great experience.
Always superb. Our go2place.
Most of our food was delicious and the drinks were great but the crispy chicken legs have a very unpleasant texture to them...very mealy. I would go again but would def avoid that item.
Great menu! Been looking a for a new to venture! Sunday brunch was delicious! Our server Alex “the Great” named after the menu item lived up to his name. We had a great time!
It was “fine”. I would go back. Better than fast food
Tried it a few times. This location, the food has been subpar each time, and the menu is not extensive enough. Drinks are good. But I think we’re done date nighting here.
Great food, great ambiance ...
Friends from out of town visiting
Menu and food taste were underwhelming but had nice service.
Service was poor - brought friends from out of town and they too felt service was poor. It was embarrassing
A little pricey, disappointing happy hour was only in the bar. Sever was excellent. Food was tasty but not large portions. Big eaters wouldn't be happy.
First and last time. Starting with inattentive waitress, followed by dirty silverware, then finalized with very little chicken in my bland buffalo chicken salad. For the prices charged, everything should have been better. This was entirely disappointing and we won’t be back.
You need to experience it for yourself. I am never a fan but my husband likes the place. Some food is really good and others mediocre at best. The deserts are not even worth wasting your money unless you eat the creme brûlée. They meed a desert chef for sure! The biscuits are really good though.
We really enjoyed brunch on Fathers Day. The food was really everyone enjoyed their meal and mimosas.
Great food and great service!!
Great attentive service.
Had brunch there Sunday. Quiet, relaxing atmosphere. Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful. My husband had the egg, roasted tomatoes and cheese over a biscuit. The dish was very mediocre. I ordered the side order of biscuits with gravy. Four very dry biscuits with a very unusual sausage gravy. Not terrible; but, I would certainly never order again. Since the order had four biscuits, I thought it might be nice for my husband and I to butter and “jelly” two of those. Our server was very glad to deliver some butter; but, told me that they did not have jelly, jam or preserves. Pretty surprising for a place that dedicates the late morning/early afternoon menu to brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Melted butter did not help the very dry, pretty tasteless biscuits. My husband, who loves most any type of coffee, deemed the coffee to be pretty pitiful. My Diet Coke was flat. The highlight of the meal was the broccoli casserole. Once, again, different than any broccoli casserole I have ever had; but, even better than our server described when I ordered it. A relaxing Memorial weekend occasion. However, as this was the second time that we have dined at South Kitchen with no rave reviews, we will probably pass on this establishment in the future.
Reliably good and often great
I eat there fairly often and always enjoy it. My guests were from Seattle and they loved it!
My second visit to South Kitchen, and it did not disappoint. Nice variety on the menu. Food was tasty, service was good. Will be returning.
Since it was Mother's day they were out of numerous food items which was kind of a bummer.
Service and food was great. I would highly recommend it
Service and staff were amazing! We did not find one thing wrong. We will be back.
Pretty noisy, but good food and good fun!
South Kitchen was a very nice surprise. The menu was surprisingly interesting and our party had a wide selection of meals, with the filet, the stroganoff and the fish and grits all earning accolades. The Cuban Sandwich wasn't the classical cuban, but it was exceptional in and of itself, and will be ordered again. Of the appetizers, the chicken legs and the oyster dish were remarkable. The house Old Fashioned cocktail was marvelous as were the wines available by the glass. Combine all of this with the excellent service, and the great location, and you have one very good restaurant. We were all very satisfied with our experience and will return.
As a lifelong Southerner, married to one as well, and having had the wonderful experience of growing up with the most fabulous cooks in the South, we appreciate the effort of anyone striving to create Southern style, traditional dishes with farm fresh products & modifying them (no lard or loads of butter or sugar, for example) for the modern masses who no longer work the farms from sunup to sundown, burning off those fatty calories. However, there are ways to modify these flavorful dishes without sacrificing taste. If this is the goal of SK, I would highly recommend they find a chef who understands what Southern cuisine should be and "get crackin"! Southern fried chicken should be tender, moist and mouthwatering on the inside with a really thick, flavorful crust that doesn't rub skin off the roof of your mouth. Collard greens can be flavorful without loads of fat, salt and vinegar. Offering red pepper flakes & a good green pepper sauce, SK made even, (something like Texas Pete) at the table would float our boats! Perhaps try the vegan recipe for collards on the internet receiving 5 stars from 33 people? The cauliflower substitute for potatoes is one of the better options at SK. The shrimp & scallop ceviche needs a bit toning down on the spices & onions (or use true Vidalia's grown in the soil of Vidalia, GA). There was an aftertaste making us wonder if bitter citrus or too much zest was used. Compare Minute Maid OJ and then Natalie's OJ (yum), for example. Basil or cilantro in the mix would be good for extra flavor. Floridians, and being one from Florida pioneering families going back to 1750, want to see and taste the seafood in our dishes! Maybe if the menu is tweaked in these ways, we and other patrons from below the Mason-Dixon line will frequent the restaurant more and could recommend it to friends. I feel certain that patrons from other parts of the country would swarm to SK when they get a true taste of good, wholesome Southern cuisine.
There were four of us. Three of the meals were average or below average. The chicken salad was well below average, including tough, tasteless chicken. The salmon was served cool, and did not taste fresh. The sausage and shrimp meal was cooked well. So, overall, we will not return to this restaurant.
Thanks for your follow up with your customers. This is the first step (only the first) in improving your customers’ dining experience.
Great tasting food with lots of GF options. Thank you for the wonderful dining experience.
Always a pleasant experience. Cocktails by experts. The redfish awesome. Service superb by Ed. Our favoured place in Nocatee!
If you order the pimento cheese snack, they give you two pieces of cracker which is totally insufficient for the amount of pimento cheese. Then they charge a $1.00 for more crackers. Bush league. Raise the price a $1 if you need to but give a decent amount of crackers. I mean, they are crackers.
Delicious salmon. Noise level was extremely high & temp was very cold. All tables outside were occupied.
i was very impressed with the service from the manager when there was an issue with my dinner- he was very quick to address it and clearly wanted to make sure i was satisfied with my dinner/ experience.
We all enjoyed the appetizers, the hamburgers were just ok. I will say I am impressed that the kids menu now has filet mignon and grilled salmon. Finally not all fried food for the kids.
