helm is a contemporary American BYOB highlighting seasonal ingredients from local urban farms. An ever-changing blackboard menu ensures the farmers’ freshest bounty. In their first venture together, chefs Kevin D’Egidio and Michael Griffiths are drawing from their fine dining background with this casual, upbeat and exciting restaurant.

Outstand service and wonderful food!
We did the 50 per person sample of whole menu. It is worth doing once because I came to realize that dishes I thought I would not like, I loved. Otherwise. It is too much of a good thing. Definitely need to go. My son is a foodie and lives this place.
It appeared all the food was pre made and in containers, then assembled. Did not taste fresh
We did the tasting menu, which included a sample of every item on the menu (for only $50 p/p!). It was once of the best meals I've ever had!
this spot is more for the current, trendy diner vs someone local from the hood, but the server was pleasant and food was tasty. just don't expect to be overly full or leaving with leftovers.
Fabulous food, particularly if you like vegetables. We will definitely be back.
Excellent food and they did a really good job accommodating the fact that half the table was vegetarian. Great little neighborhood spot, wish we had more like this in Pennsport.
This place is so great and the food is outstanding. So sad to see them leaving our neighborhood.
Eclectic mix of ingredients came together nicely is the small plate offerings. Every dish was superb.
One of the many things we love about both Helm and South Helm is that they are slightly different, with South Helm more about lots of small plates to share. Great creativity in the dishes. The manager always welcomes you back. BYOB. Easy to find street parking. Very casual. As the Helm locations grow, they have not lost anything along the way. Dined at Helm a few weeks ago. South Helm is always fun dining. Look forward to the next locale.
Great food; above average service. Unbearable noise level. Absolutely defeaning by 9 pm
Hands down one of the best meals I have ever had. It kills me that it took us so long to discover this gem. When we got there, we were seated right away and our server was fantastic. She walked us through the menu and suggested that each person order 2-3 plates. We were hungry and wanted to try as much as possible so we went for 3 dishes each and dessert. It was definitely more than enough food but everything was so amazingly delicious, I don't regret a bite. In fact, it was so good when we got home we made reservations to go again this week. I am a little sad that they'll be moving to Rittenhouse Sq. but am hopeful that it'll be as good after the move. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
My friends and I did the tasting menu and it was plenty of food. Everything was very well prepared and the flavors were delicious. The restaurant was quite loud though and there were times we couldn't even hear each other across the table. The service was a little slow, but the food trumps all of that.
Was headed to a concert and needed a place to eat before hand; was traveling from a far distance. Looked like decent reviews, so booked it. I’m a bit of a foodie and I can honestly say this was the best meal I’ve had in 2018. Innovative cooking, byob which I always prefer, open kitchen which is a plus, and the food was tasty end to end.
Server Adrian was outstanding. Friendly and could not do enough for us.
Place is very noisy. Dining room is small but not crowded. Food was interesting and delicious. Most were a good portion of tapas style. One dish was a skimpy skewer. They did adjust where they could for my dairy free, gluten free requests. Good variety of choices made it easy.
Parking is easy.
Loved! Anniversary date was spot on!
Impeccable food and service.
Always amazing! Couldn’t recommend more highly!
As always, dishes are unique and full of flavor & the service is friendly and authentic.
Innovative food in a very very noisy atmosphere. We ordered the $50 per person sample everything and the server brought it out much too fast, not allowing us to savor individual dishes. When we asked that they slow it down, they did.
Like North Helm a little better because the service is more thoughtful.
really liked the leek dish.
This is my second time for dinner. The service is great and very helpful. Nice place, low key but very efficient and surprisingly different dishes.
We were there on Thurs 7pm 4/19 and saw the chef preparing the dish taste the dish w a spoon and then kept mixing the meal with it, and then did it again! We complained but it wasn’t our dish, it was the next table over’s dish and they didn’t know.
Other than that, the food was great!
Great inventive tapas to choose from blackboard menu. Host/Server was excellent and described the tapas perfectly. The tapas were prepared very well. We really enjoyed them all but our favorites were the smoked beets, angiolini, squid, and fried leeks. The 2 desserts were delicious..white chocolate tart and avocado ice cream sandwiches.
Amazing experience. We were a group of 4 and decided to do the chefs tasting menu. 50 dollars a person and EVERYTHING on the menu was brought to the table, including 2 delicious desserts. We had a great time, did not at all feel rushed or overwhelmed with food brought to our food. Our waitress was great and told us we could slow down the plates coming out at anytime. Will definitely be going back again!
This place is awesome. It’s small plates made for sharing but the portions are a great size. Easily 2 can share one plate. The ingredients are always fresh and the choices are interesting combinations of flavors. We’ve never been disappointed in a meal! The service is excellent!!!
South Helm is the type of place where you can order anything off of the menu and trust that it will be amazingly delicious. The Chef's special was out of this world, as it is every time I visit (Thanks, Jon!). Great BYO with a great staff.
Always creative. They combine flavors one would never think of pairing and it is always good. Never disappointed here.
Always one of my favorite restaurants - best use of fresh ingredients creatively combined to create unique and insanely tasty dishes. Definitely go with a few people and get the Chef's Tasting!
Adrian is the consummate host!
small plates and byob. ordered based on recommendations from our server and were very impressed. reasonably priced for the quality.
Incredible food and amazing service!
The entire experience was extraordinarily. Thanks for the excellent food and service
Great tasting and creative food:-)
The avocado ice cream was AMAZING!
The idea of the chalkboard menu seemed like a good idea unless you were seated where you couldn't see it, the server had to take a picture on your phone?! So odd, have some print outs. They claim their menu is always changing but it's only one dish a month, already being such a small menu it's not convincing to go back. The food sounded alot better then executed. The true integrity of the food was lost with all the sauces and flavors put on the food. The pure and simple flavors need to be brought out. Service was great until the end. We waited a good 10 minutes for our check. Once the restaurant was full, all bets were off even getting more water. They need more than one server and one food runner.
So amazing. Everything was perfect.
Not my cup of tea....but could see how the vegetarian/health food crowd might be thrilled with this place. But if you are not really adventurous with your food choices...and prefer down to earth homey food then this is not your place. If you like to taste unusual and different concoctions, then give this small-plate place a try.
Fantastic doo, engaging staff. Small, shared-plate format gives you a taste of everything. Really unique takes on great dishes.
The food was mixed. Too heavy, fried. The short rib dish had very little meat. Clearly, creative approach to food. We were expecting more.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Philly. As a BYOB with small plates, it serves customers spectacularly good food without making them spend a fortune. We had a party here with around 25 people last summer, and everyone walked away in awe of what they'd been served. The chefs are creative and the service is excellent.
