I haven't been to South City Kitchen in years and never to the Buckhead location so I was excited to go back. We went on a weeknight. They were not super crowded, service was great unfortunately our food was only ok. I ordered the fried chicken. The coating had great flavor but the chicken itself was so overcooked in some parts that it was like a rock and I could not even eat it. Another member of our party got the BBQ Shrimp. It comes in full shell with legs. This really makes eating it more messy and work than it is worth. They should definitely change that dish to tails only. You lose a lot of flavor from the sauce after you peel the shrimp, no bueno. Another member of our party got the black rice vegetarian dish, she liked her dish except for the mushrooms which she said were too hard and chewy and not cooked enough. The last member of our group got the lamb, they liked their dish but unfortunately ended up with some gastrointestinal issues the next day :(. The appetizers of fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese were fantastic. Probably will not be going back anytime soon though.
I went in with high expectations and was underwhelmed. My steak was over cooked to the point of charred I ordered it mid rare and was well done. the potatoes was over cooked as well. The wife loved her Egg White Frittata. I'm not one to send food back I have worked in the restaurant industry in a high end steak house. I know how busy it gets especially on Easter . I will return one more time on a less busy day and we will go from there.
I booked our reservation through open table not aware that there was a prefixed menu. $35 for my child is ridiculous; that did not even include soft drinks (which were over $4 each). Had I known it was a prefix Easter menu I would not have booked this. Not sure if that is the fault of open table or the restaurant. Also our server was not friendly at all, talked very softly, and was bordering on being rude. There was too much time in between the courses and we were so full by the time we got our entrées that none of us wanted to eat.
We were very disappointed in our Easter brunch.
All around we had a GREAT brunch experience! 👍🏾
We had Easter brunch at South City Kitchen in Buckhead and it was fantastic. The menu that they had for Easter was creative, fun and delicious. Everything from the cornbread through the main course was absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend.
I have been a SCK fan for many years - often visiting the midtown location for business lunches and such. However, this Buckhead location was incredibly disappointing. After raving about the restaurant to my guests, the chicken was dry and the food wasn't up to par. Not sure if it is a difference in locations or just an off day. Service was great, but the food wasn't worth returning for.
So nice to sit in the "back room" away from the bar to be able to carry on a conversation in a regular tone! The food was outstanding - that red fish was amazing, cooked to perfection and flavorful. My friend raved about the fried chicken - not overwhelming but so satisfying.
Not very good experience, service was very poor. Go to Bistro Niko right next door and awesome!!
Only complaint is I was celebrating a birthday and no recognition of it as I expected and logged into Open table. I tried to alert waiter but could not discreetly. Food was amazing. Great birthday celebration otherwise!
Great experience, good food & great customer service. Prompt service & great team work, I definitely would recommend this resturant to couples. The outside area was nice & enough space for each guest, not to loud.
We had 12:15 reservations checked in and finally at 12:35 I asked why is everyone getting seated and they arrived after us? She looked like I just asked her a calculus problem? Now the manager Matt did come to the table and apologize and took care of our drink which I didn’t expect but am very appreciative. Food was delicious
All three of us got fried chicken. It was a huge disappointment.
Grease puddles when it arrived at the table.
The bright spot ....She crab soup was delicious.
They refused to seat us until our entire party of 5 was assembled. It was very uncomfortable for our Elderly Mother who is on a walker. 1 person was driving in from Augusta and was 30 minutes late. They had plenty of tables available.
Really good, thoughtful food. Nice and knowledgeable staff, and fantastic drinks and atmosphere.
I reserved an outdoor table via your website and not only were we inside but they put us in a high top. Disappointed.
I ordered Caesar salad with Fried Chicken. The chicken their specialty was excellent. The salad was drenched in dressing, far to much that the lettuce was wilting and through off the taste and experience.
Corn bread is excellent and fried green tomato's outstanding. Service was good not great, but good looks like support staff could use a little more training.
SCK Buckhead is a fun place to eat - upstairs on the patio. Highly recommend!
Everything was nice overall but the server was definitely slow and disinterested.
Awesome biscuits! Lovely dining on the porch.
Love the fried chicken and waffles. Also the preparation of the fried chicken and how it’s presented when served. Them greens need more seasoning though plus I don’t like to see juice throughout my meal. I had the chicken with potatoes and greens. The next time I will request no juice please. My only complaint.
Service was not good,, chicken was dry,, Drove a long distant for food not to be hot and not good
Awesome staff. Large portions of great food.
Food was flavorful and meal was served hot. Service from all with smiles.
Perfect service! Delicious food!
Extraordinary food and environment. Have eaten dinner and brunch and always Outstanding 👍💥!
We had a lovely brunch with our out of town friends that always make it a point to go to South City Kitchen before they travel up to the mountains. The service was a little slow, too much lag time in between courses, would have loved more attention on hot coffee. Lovely server and attentive. our meal getting the check extra items just too spaced out.
The wait staff were kind and courteous, the service was prompt but did not feel rushed. The food was excellent and we would definitely go here again.
Dinner was delicious. My husband had Shrimp and grits which he loved. I had the fried chicken. The chicken was good but not the best I have had. Our appetizer and dessert were delicious. What made the evening was our server who was awesome and the atmosphere.
Excellent restaurant! Very good choice for a date and the fried chicken is amazing! Staff was friendly and attentive as well.
Service was extremely poor. Server never asked if we had questions about menu we had to ask her to explain dish’s. Went over menu so fast we asked her to slow down. Never asked how our appetizers or entrees were. I piled dishes out of the way.
We were advised that the reason our drinks were so delayed was so to the bar being backed up.
She told us she was very busy and that is why did not receive water and never refilled our water.
Server was in such a hurry basically dropped the steak knife on the table in front of me.
The biscuits were the best I have ever had! I would come back just for those.
A great place for a business lunch especially if you are trying to give your colleagues a taste of the south.
I was really excited to try this based based on the reviews and menu. Inside it's a nice place. We had a reservation and didn't have to wait long for a table. Our waiter was a bit weird. First of all he mumbled a lot and it is noisy in there so we had to continually ask him to repeat what he was saying. Now the food. Let me say the complimentary biscuits and cornbread were fantastic! I ordered BBQ shrimp, supposedly one of their signature dishes. The shrimp are not peeled, which I was fine with but the flavor was terrible. They came in what amounts to a watered down BBQ sauce. That's it. I've had BBQ shrimp in New Orleans and have made my own (Paul Prudhomme recipe) and they were each fantastic. These were very simple shrimp in BBQ sauce with bread. My wife had shrimp and grits. Another disappointment. Sauce tasted very similar to the watery BBQ sauce, hardly any ham (very small pcs) and just not much flavor. Each entree is $25, they should be pretty good.
In summary, it was a disappointment.
Great experience for my whole family. Food and service were great, as usual.
Good food - love the creative takes on Southern 🥘
Shrimp and grits were ok. Braised short ribs were bland and the piece we got was mostly fat. Leeks were tough and parsnips were undercooked. Worst $35 I’ve ever spent.
This place is AMAZING! Unique play on drinks with a southern twist, great atmosphere, servers were extremely knowledgeable about the food, and the food itself was excellent. Everything tasted far above average and was a southern classic dish or a dish transformed with southern style touches. The cornbread was the best I have ever had in a resteraunt in my life, as well as the biscuits. My sister ordered a vegetarian rice that was so flavorful I would order it! I had the lamb and the seasoning and depth of the sauce was on point. I want to try several more dishes. This place is not over-hyped. I will be back!
