The outdoor setting is very vibrant and enjoyable. There is the unfortunate rumble of hotrods/motorcycles and loud car music on occasion but that comes with the on street dining. The service, food and staff were very good. Whether you are a couple, or a group you will find the experience very enjoyable. It was important for them to make you feel good and that is a plus.
Wonderful meal during Restaurant week. Lots of choices, quick and courteous service, delicious food that’s perfectly seasoned.
Amazing. I was absolutely impressed by their professional service.
Very pleased we tried this spot. Service was OUTSTANDING! From the hostess, to the server, to the manager stopping over to say hello and check in with us, OUTSTANDING! We can’t wait to return again. High end food with a casual vibe. We had apps, main and dessert. Wine and cocktails and ended with espressos. A+!
It was a very nice experience. The food was much better than I expected. I would definitely return.
First time at South Bay. Went during restaurant week. Food was delicious. We will be back again.
Lovely. Great outdoor seating. Food was excellent. Cocktails are refreshing. Can’t wait to go back.
Service was incredibly slow, inattentive. Brought out the wrong drinks. Food was ok
Fantastic value for high quality food
Outside environment is great, and the utilization is not quite high even during the restaurant week which is great during the pandemic
We ate outside on a chilly October night, made comfortable by the propane heaters. The menu is extensive and varied. My red snapper was excellent - the side of asparagus less so and not worth $7.00. The wine list is interesting and a little pricey. Service was attentive. We will definitely be back.
Staff needs to be trained.
Went for a girls night to celebrate a friends birthday. The have unforeseen and outdoor dining, food was delicious and our server was lovely. Menu has many diverse and unique offerings. I am craving the roast duck breast over butternut squash with blueberry compote tapa. This was my second time here BTW and won’t be my last. Highly recommend. You do not need a special occasion to go here.
Overall the restaurant is fine/good except for the service we had on a Saturday night. After being seated it took over 10 minutes to get menus and water. After we got water and ordered our food. Our food came, it just took really long. That might be okay if we had our server check on us once awhile. They dropped our apps, no follow up, dinner, no follow up. We had to wait over 15 minutes to ask for the bill and eventually asked the hostess to help. After getting the bill it took an additional 10 minutes to process payment and get it back. I believe our servers got distracted by a group of college girls at another table so ours along with at least another couple who also asked the hostess for our bill, we're neglected.
The food was absolutely incredible. It took quite a while for us to get our dinner, but we didn’t even care after it finally came because it was one of the best meals we’d had. Being from Boston, we were beyond impressed. It was unexpected. We landed there randomly, using Open Table. The wine list was superb also. Great location, too.
Other than the hostess having no idea what she was doing (and openly admitted to the fact), it was a very good dining experience.
Outstanding as always. Great food, service and value. A consistent favorite in New Haven.
I went for dinner a few weeks ago and it was amazing, nothing but good things to say. Good service, great food & drinks! Cute outdoor seating area. I also went for happy hour and it was OK. They have good deals but you can tell they cut corners at happy hour. Would recommend for dinner though.
Service was ok, it could have been better. We ordered the shrimp cocktail and it came out warm. Server took it off the bill, but still could have been avoided.
My second time dining and it did not disappoint
Great drinks great food
I was delighted to finally return to South Bay, and especially glad that, since the last time I dined there, the restaurant had joined OpenTable. The fixed price lunch is an amazing "deal." Terrific choices and the food is beautifully executed. I'll certainly return again and again! (Amazing Brussel Sprout and Risotto appetizer; and a perfect grilled salmon!)
Great variety on the menu, love the vibe, awesome service, never disappointed!
We ordered a huge assortment of delicious appetizers and entrees. The food came out fresh, warm, and prompt. The indoor atmosphere was very nice as well and the staff were attentive.
Loved it. Very good tapas selection. Great for outdoor dining.
Fabulous menu with some very unusual dishes and very tasty too. The service was very good and wait staff very efficient and friendly. This was my first time here and will definitely return.
It was a FANTASTIC meal! Biggest issue is that we couldn’t try the whole menu in one sitting! Will definitely be back :)
Busy outdoor seating. Considering how difficult it is to find staff these days, they did a good job.
Food and service was very good . It is a very enjoyable place
The waiter needs training, and neglected us for most of the meal. He forgot our water and some of our order, and was impatient. The busboy was nice and worked hard.
My $12 cocktail tasted like mouthwash. They were willing to revise it for me, thank God, and it became drinkable. Sausage cavatelli was gross, I would’ve rather had Easy Mac and a hot dog. Unbelievable pricing for below average food and drinks. Countless other restaurants in New Haven offering products of much higher value for much lower cost.
Our favorite spot for brunch!! Best spot for people watching and just hanging out with friends as well. Good wine list and great cocktail list! I highly recommend the eggplant stack.
We are outside on college street. The show was on with harleys and muscle cars making a lot of racket. The good was good. We enjoyed ourselves.
Stopped here for dinner with my son. Restaurant is on a busy block of restaurants on College Street a block south of Yale old campus . It has outdoor and indoor seating.
FOOD: Mediterranean with good selection of seafood and salads while still offering red meats. A tapas menu is also offered for diners who wish to sample small plates. Grilled salmon with greens and favs beans was excellent and braised short ribs were very tender. Portions are on the large side. Grilled octopus tapas was excellent.
SERVICE: despite it being very busy, our server was attentive and very prompt. Definitely superior service.
OVERALL: Food is very good with many healthier options (lots of vegetables and seafood options) but with enough options to probably please most people.
We made a reservation and visited while visiting the area. The decor was cute, and we are outside. It was a Friday night, and it was very busy.
The reason it missed the mark is 3-fold:
1. After we were seated, the waitstaff gave us a few moments and immediately asked for our order, would not leave and definitely rushed our order. Then it was a good 20 min before we received the food or any drinks. It was an odd pacing, and weird to feel pressured to order immediately.
2. The food was very - meh. From pastas to salads to calamari- all dishes were below average. Especially given the price.
3. For some reason, the music was so loud that it was very hard to have a conversation. There were 4 of us, and the people across could not hear.
Cute vibe, and appreciate hard working staff, but would not return.
The food was great. Both the tapas and the main course. However the desert could be better. And some desert was in available even though it was on a menu.
Nice setting with outdoor seating.
Food presentation was beautiful. The meats were cooked well and well seasoned. Some of the sides like Israeli couscous and quinoa were little more bland by themself but were delicious together
Excellent quality and portions
Waitress was not present and brought courses at the wrong time. Food was great, but subpar service detracted from the overall experience.
We were a group of 12 with time constraints. Our server was so kind and made sure we had the best experience. Good was delicious. Everyone had something different. Would definitely come back. Cocktails made just right..not too sweet and wine was very good.
Lovely. The service was very good and the menu is quite nice. Go for the oysters to get rolling.
