Fabulous, as always! Can't wait to eat there again!
Our first time and definitely not our last! Beautiful atmosphere, Katie, our server was superb, food and wine was delicious! A very enjoyable evening.
great specials, staff attentive and not intrusive. look forward to our next visit
Sotto Sopra is my favorite restaurant in Baltimore and we frequent it for our special family occasions.
We have never been disappointed, always very happy with the quality of our meals, service and the overall dining experience.
Sotto Sopra never disappoints. I have been there for their Opera night and now their Jazz Wednesday. (I will say that the jazz is just light stuff and would probably not satisfy a hard core jazz fan, but it is pleasant and well played.) The food is always superb, the service is efficient, friendly, and accomodating, and the setting is terrific.
I'm from Italy and this is one of the very few Italian places I have been to in Baltimore where the food is truly authentic. (The chef is from Bergamo, Italy). I certainly enjoy all types of cuisine from the entire world, but if you are looking for an authentic Italian restaurant in Baltimore, this is it. We will go back again.
Service and table setting were lovely. I had saltimbocca which was delicious and the perfect serving size. Perhaps a little more zucchini in the vegetable but understand that it isn't really the time of year for it. My daughter ordered the mushroom filled chicken with potato; she would have preferred that the chicken skin had been rendered more and that it was more crispy but understood the sauce may have posed a challenge to that. The apple strudel was really lovely although perhaps a tablespoon more ice cream since the filling was really hot and needed the ice cream to be able to eat it. The chianti was delightful.
Best service we had in a while. This place was awesome.
I absolutely love this gem in the Mt. Vernon area. My boyfriend and I went there before going to see a play at the Hippodrome and I am so glad we picked this place. The burrata appetizer was SO good and the squid ink pasta with shrimp was TO DIE for. I will definitely be going back to try more things off of the menu.
Phenomenal service and delicious food!! The care and attention to detail in everything was admirable and greatly appreciated. Highly recommend giving it a try if you haven’t already...overall wonderful experience.
Great place, never disappoints!
I was really looking forward to this birthday celebration for my son, but the experience was pretty mixed. We were 5 people squeezed into a four person table in the corner, one on the party was repeated jostled by servers walking by. The food was good but there was barely any room on the table for the dishes and wine glasses, and since two of the group ordered things that required an extra dish for shells, it was pretty much a nightmare. The food was good, but I think that for the money we paid, we should have had a better experience. Especially since I reserved the table more than a month in advance.
The food!!!! The ambiance!!!! So outstanding!!! I can't praise it highly enough. Just go!!!
I hadn't been here in 10 years and I wasn't sure if it would be as good as last time -- but it exceeded my expectations! My husband and I spent some time at the bar for cocktails, which were phenomenal and the bartender was incredibly friendly and social. Once we were seated at our table, we got the calamari and the another app with fried artichokes and meat. Then our entrees were the pork ossobuco and pumpkin raviolini both of which had us just melting in our seats with enjoyment. Such great meals. Our server Katie was very helpful with recommendations, including a great glass of red wine.
The homemade pasta was some of the very best I have had outside of Italy!
The ambiance was romantic. The server was friendly and attentive and accommodated our every need. My wife thought the ricotta gnocchi with pesto was light and not overpowering with garlic.
We decided to eat at Sotta Sopra because of the jazz quartet. The food was excellent. Especially recommend the seafood bowl and cheesecake dessert.
We shared the prosciutto and fried artichokes and it was a perfect way to start the meal. The artichokes were delicious. The main course choices were the lavender salmon, the pappardelle and the pork ossobucco. The ossobucco melted in my mouth and the risotto that was the side was creamy and good enough to be its own meal. The service was perfect. Not intrusive but still aware of what we needed. A perfect special occasion dinner.
Amazing food! I had the lobster bisque and boyfriend had the flatbread as an appetizer. The flatbread is more of a shared app just FYI. For our main course we had the squid ink pasta and the lobster ravioli. Also both delicious. The ambiance was also great. We went on Pea Body night with live music. Very fun! Will definitely be heading back there. The vibe is very romantic.
Excellent meal and service!
We come to Sotta Sopra most months prior to a play at the Hippodrome. We used to try different places, but once we experienced SS, were were hooked. Every meal has been wonderful and I just can’t say enough good things about the service—Derrick as our waiter provides superior service, no matter how packed the restaurant is, and all staff are exceptionally cordial and professional. Dining at SS is definitely the highlight of our month.
Beautiful restaurant with charm. Very delicious. We had the mussels in the coconut milk with leeks to start. I had the omelette of the day, my friend had the crab cake sandwich. Wish we lived closer. This was walking distance to CenterStage.
The service was great! The food was amazing. The ambience was lovely. Very romantic place!
Wish I knew about this restaurant sooner. Fantastic fresh pasta, nice ambiance, good service and reasonable. Normally don’t go out on holidays but was traveling on Valentines Day. Had a wonderful experience and meal!
We had a fantastic visit for Valentine’s Day. Everything about the meal was perfect.
A culinary treat and bargain for lunch. Very pleasant dining experience.
Absolutely fantastic as always. Everything was perfect.
Good food, great service but a little pricey
Celebrating my husbands birthday! It was opera night. We enjoyed every course of the meal and the entertainment was an added bonus! Love the ambiance and service at this restaurant . They have valet parking or self park right across the street. Highly recommend!
Amazing service. Prices were good being they were specialty dishes.
Always excellent. From the time you enter and Jocelyn leads you to your table you know you're in for a great dining experience. Our table had the Pappardelle, the Carbonara and the Halibut special and all were excellent. This is my favorite restaurant in Baltimore, for the food, the ambiance and the services. If you haven't been, make it a priority.
Sotto Sopra never disappoints. Authentic and creative Italian cuisine, not the American “spaghetti and meatballs” fake fare. Excellent service, and remarkable consistency.
Wonderful dinner. Great staff!
Just anticipated what we needed.
A great evening. Excellent meal!
Went there for an anniversary dinner. We really wanted to like this place. Reviews were great, and we were looking for a new dinner spot to try.
While the server (Jose?) really did try, his friendly attitude and attentiveness couldn’t fix how bad the food was. Everything, spare a couple of things were just really bad.
First, the calamari was decent, but for a 13$ appetizer we probably got about 6 bites worth of actual calamari. The bulk of it was fried extra fillers. The first round of bread was burnt and the second one we asked for to replace it was better.
My fiancee ordered a moscow mule that was severely iced down and barely tasted like alcohol. This was a $12 drink. I ordered the ribeye after seeing the good reviews. This is an italian spot so I while I didn’t expect it to taste like Ruth’s Chris and the like, I did expect some form of flavor for a $40 cut of meat. The meat tasted honestly like it could’ve been served at a Denny’s and added some type of au jus to hide the blandness of the seasoning. It was a very cheap cut of “ribeye” that was barely salted, cooked on probably a pan and then given some kind of fake grill marks that made it taste burnt on the outside.
This was the worst $130 I’ve ever spent on a meal.
Ambiance and service were excellent. Asparagun risotto was only fair. It needed salt, even with the grated cheese. The appetizer cheese plate and salumi were excellent. I would try pasta dishes next time.
