At Sotto, Executive Chef Steve Samson and Chef de Cuisine Craig Towe deliver an honest, market-driven menu of regionally-inspired Southern Italian dishes, including fresh housemade pastas and Neapolitan pizza cooked in an artisan wood burning oven. This wood burning oven was built onsite by Neapolitan craftsmen with traditional techniques that have been passed on from generation to generation and is the first of its kind in the Los Angeles area.
Our food is complemented by a fresh, seasonally relevant cocktail program with a strong background in the classics and the utilization of lesser known Italian liqueurs. We also offer an eclectic list of boutique wines from Southern Italy.

Sotto Los Angeles Ratings and Reviews
Visited for DineLA which is always a great chance to try out a restaurant and was not disappointed! First off the service and staff is so attentive with having been kindly greeted from everyone from the waiters, bus boys, and the manager who even dropped in to ask how everything was. Waitress was great about making suggestions and asking how we wanted to pace out our meal. So 5 stars for service. As for the food we were impressed by what the DineLA menu had to offer and the portion and flavors were perfect. The branzino and pork shoulder were so perfectly cooked, tender, and tasty. The standouts where the home made bread with anchovy butter, the short rib, and pork shoulder. I will definitely be returning to try the pizza and more of their wines. I loved the ambiance as well, it was cozy and a place I could see myself coming back to. Thanks for a great evening!
I took my son and his girlfriend to celebrate his 30th birthday, and it was a magical evening. The ambience was lovely; contemporary but homey at the same time. Everything from the cocktails, wine list, food, dessert and service were first class. We started with the burrata
cheese and bread. OMGosh, it was amazing!! My son had the braised short rib which was the special of the night. HIs girlfriend had pizza and I had linguine with clams; all fabulous.
For dessert, we had gelato and an order of Zeppole (Italian donuts). We cannot wait to
return to Sotto. It was a wonderful dining experience!
4 of us had a 5:45pm reservation. At 8pm we were asked to switch tables to accommodate a large party. So we switched. To a high table in the noisy bar. After 45 min we were asked to leave because "people are waiting". In all my years of dining- I have never been asked to move TWICE!!!!!!! No thanks, Sotto. You just lost a long time customer. Hope the people waiting were worth it.
This is our second time to Sotta - last year and this year for DineLA- it is remarkable, divine and we loved our waitress. The menu for DineLA was excellent from appetizers to desert!! from carrots, smoked trout on toast to entrée all awesome to the parsnip cake- OMG !! Good selection for cocktails and they we were well executed. A find through the dineLA process- that was our lucky day - those who live in the area are fortunate to have this gem near them !! thank you for such a great experience
I had this place logged as a possible future visit as it appears to be one of the most decent Naples style pizzerias in the LA area. Appetizers were well done, especially the octopus is a must have! Pizzas were ok, would have wanted to have them slightly less cooked since the surface was a bit over burnt which makes the pizza look worse and corrupts the taste. Pasta was ok. The overall atmosphere was nice.
This Italian place really knows what they're doing for three main reasons. First, the food is excellent, fresh, and hot. Every single item came piping hot and fresh. Second, the service is beyond good. There was a food runner, drink runner, busser, waiter, and a sommelier! The place is fully staffed and understands that cutting payroll hurts the restaurant business. Third, the restaurant is very clean and organized. After visiting the restroom, I wanted to have my dinner there because it was so clean and decorated attractively!
Great place with great menu and food. Tables are two close together side by side and to far apart between 2 top customers enjoying a meal together. Had a super annoying couple immediately next to ice having a loud personal discussion we had no interest in being a part of but couldn’t avoid. Definitely a major detractor from the experience
Had open table reservations for 9 pm but we decided to go early and showed up at 8, we got seated right away, hostess was really nice, wait staff was excellent. We got olives app and pizza (3 of them)which was really good. We have a wood fired pizza oven at home so pretty picky, the dough was a bit tasteless ( Our homemade is better), but the pies were good, and overall the whole experience was awesome. We recommend it. Paula and Matt from Boston
Went for a birthday dinner, was a great choice. It’s loud, but feels lively, not oppressive. Service is great - attentive without being obsequious. We enjoyed different cocktails, and butter beer could have been dessert! Highlight of appetizers was the octopus. Shared a pizza, pork chop and two pastas. Everyone happy with the food. I tasted my family’s desserts, didn’t find them tempting though the group liked them more than I did. Got cannolis to go- shell and cream great texture but the orange was too strong so I ate less than half of one but my family finished it off. Absolutely would return.
Pizza dough is soggy, salads ok except for the beets, which were pickled and then had more vinegar dressing added making them horribly acidic. Trout inedible. Wine list completely bizarre - literally nothing even drinkable in it - why stock wine only from the worst and hottest regions in Italy? Restaurant has so much potential as it’s space and location and size would make it so cozy - but the food is not even average and there are too many other options in LA - will not be a repeat for us.
Just supper yummy. Everything from the appetizers to the main course. I love the bread with burrito cheese. There was a squash dish with pinenuts amazing! Also a colorful cauliflower dish, not fried but roasted. Amazing! A friend ordered pasta with lamb, out of this world good!I will be coming back with a new friend in tow.
Service was a little slow at first , the girl who served us was really nice and knowledgeable though but half way through she handed us to someone else and didn't even say anything. Appetizers were great. Pizza was good. Pasta was a little under cooked. Def a decent place though.
Very friendly service. The homemade bread was delicious (but you have to pay for it). The beet salad was way too salty but the crispy octopus was good. The pastas were unusual but interesting - perfectly al dente and unique flavors. We asked for the porterhouse medium rare and it was very rare. Good flavor though. Gelato were the best dessert. Fun place to try out.
