At Sotto, Executive Chef Steve Samson and Chef de Cuisine Craig Towe deliver an honest, market-driven menu of regionally-inspired Southern Italian dishes, including fresh housemade pastas and Neapolitan pizza cooked in an artisan wood burning oven. This wood burning oven was built onsite by Neapolitan craftsmen with traditional techniques that have been passed on from generation to generation and is the first of its kind in the Los Angeles area.



Our food is complemented by a fresh, seasonally relevant cocktail program with a strong background in the classics and the utilization of lesser known Italian liqueurs. We also offer an eclectic list of boutique wines from Southern Italy.

After several years and lots of hype, Beverly Hills' Sotto, one of LA’s great Italian restaurants is still warranting the praise.

Ratings 8.0-8.5:The best way to think about restaurants in the low to mid 8′s is that these are the places you would absolutely go back to, anytime. These restaurants are ones that you want to bring a friend to, just so they can also experience the duck carnitas, or burger, or whatever dish the place is known for.

The food is outstanding, every course we had was espectacular, the service was always so attentive. We order the octopus and is crispy and tender, packed with so much flavor, the pizza was thin just as the real Neapolitan pizza. And the chicken is super moist and amazing. Save room for dessert !

Great place to meet up with friends for a great night of drinks, food and conversation. The wood fired pizzas are amazing and the "must have" item are the buttermilk zeppoles!

Food was very good, service was good but I called in ahead of time (2 hours before I arrived) and told the host to notate for the server that I’d have to be out by 7 (the server, who was kind, thought it was 730). At 645, our last hot dish hadn’t come so I asked if we could cancel it and we couldn’t so I had to pay for it and let it sit in my car for 5 hours which kinda sucked. Besides that one particular issue, I also asked in my open table notes to not sit specifically in the type of seat where we sat. The service and speed was great, the rest was a bit of a bummer. Will be back w family but not a date.

The pasta was amazing but the chicken was truly all fat. I haven’t had a piece of chicken that purple or fatty ever at a restaurant. It was inedible but the appetizers were delicious.

Sotto is always great. The food is so favorable with minimal, simple, great ingredients. I love the Southern Italy focussed wine list. And the servers are always great and guiding you to a new wine for you to discover.

We went on a Tuesday night. It was too bad they were out of fish since not all of us eat pasta. Also, the mixed greens salad was out. I enjoy ordering salads with my dinner, but I was not interested in strawberries and nectarines in my salad, so I went without. We did enjoy our pastas and they were accommodating to the vegetarian in the group.

The ambiance didn't match the prices.
Our server was very nice and let me taste the wine before deciding on which to get.

Great food, great service. Went there with the family, and the pasta and pizza were a hit with my husband and teenagers. They also have a nice wine selection.

Our server was wonderful—knowledgeable, attentive but not overbearing, and courteous. The food was delicious. I had the squid ink pasta, which I highly recommend. The gelato special for dessert (with amaro poured over it!) was a perfect finish.

Delicious food, we shared a mushroom pizza that was amazing, and a side of asparagus topped with parmesan and herbs. We were there briefly before a dance program, but will definitely come back for dinner given that the food was delicious and the service was terrific. See you again soon!

When we arrived at the restaurant, about twenty minutes before our 6 pm reservation, the host told us we could not be seated but had to sit at the bar and wait for our table. But the restaurant was largely empty except for a few tables that had already been seated. We decided to go for a walk instead, but were sorely tempted to bag the reservation.

The table service itself was fine.

Love these people. Feels very neighborhood and Familiar like an upper east side spot in NYC. Staff are always nice. Amazing Negronis. Orata was flakey and moist. Love the grilled bread and the chicken was sublime!

The special Coccia prix fixe dinner was excellent. The ingredients, flavors, and preparation were the best since my last meal in Italy. Outstanding. The service was attentive and professional. My only complaint—as always—was the noise level. I understand the restraunt’s need to move people through in order to have more seatings, but there must be a less obnoxious way of doing it. The high noise level—forcing you to shout to be heard and understood by your companions—damages the dining experience. The result is food that is wonderful ; the dining experience, not so much.

The only blemish on the evening was waiting awhile for the waiter to initially come greet us, and then me having to get up from my table to take it up with the manager. The waiter and manager were very attentive after this and the food was out of this world. We’ll definitely be back.

Balance. That's what I loved about this restaurant. Every dish had different textures, flavors, nuances... it was all truly interesting when eating every dish.

My friend and I ordered the crispy octopus, rigatoni, guanciale pizza, and puttanesca pizza. I thoroughly enjoyed the guanciale pizza and the crispy octopus appetizer. I wished I had more of those to enjoy. The rigatoni and the puttanesca pizza was difficult for me to get down. It was delicious, don't get me wrong! It just had ingredients that I wasn't too used to prepared in such a way. Like the rigatoni pasta was very earthy, rich, and heavy because of the chicken liver. While the puttanesca pizza was topped with briny, fishy white anchovies. Maybe I was mixing too many different flavors in one night so maybe think about the flavor combinations of what you are ordering the next time you go. I know I will. Overall, by the end of the night, we didn't have any leftovers and left feeling full and satisfied.

I would definitely go back to try the other dishes and sneak in another guanciale pizza to go or something. That thing is too perfect to pass!

This was, by far, my most favorite dining experience/food I have ever had. I visited LA from Connecticut and Sotto was on the top of my list to come to. I have always been food-centric, so I tend to plan my trips based on food/beer rather than tourist attractions. This place was the epitome of comfort southern Italian cuisine matched with interesting, hand crafted cocktails. They also were so accommodating; I had canceled my reservation but turned up 2 hours later and was sat right away. In my opinion, we had the best seats in the house, sitting on the rail right in front of the wood fire pizza oven and the chef de cuisine. It was a dream experience. From the creamy Tito’s infused butterscotch soda with angostura whipped cream to the Pork meatballs that melt away in your mouth to the Casarecce with moist braised lamb to the insanely tastey, perfectly chewy, charred dough from the Guanciale. My tastebuds are still recovering; I hope they never will! If you’re going to LA, put Sotto on the top of your list, twice. I will be back!

Thank you to the host, servers and chefs for making my experience so memorable that I had to come back a second time before leaving LA. Amazing work.

Our experience at Sotto was great. Wonderful service, our waiter was very informative about the great options on the menu, the food was delicious, and they have a great cocktail and wine menu. The ambiance can be a little loud, but we will not hesitate to go back again.

Our waitress was so on target . She was helpful, friendly, timely and never rushing us. Her recommendations were perfect and her attention to detail (given my good allergy) was impeccable. All of that and the food was fresh, fabulous and fun!

Delicious pizza with excellent cheese, zesty sauce and a thin crust that manages to have a toothsome texture without being undercooked. The ribeye came with perfect roasted potatoes but the steak had some similarity of taste to a roast and was a bit disappointing. In fairness, I had the feeling that the ribeye may have been the selection that was not their strongpoint. The gelato was dense, creamy and excellent. The waiter was extremely pleasant.

Really enjoy Sotto. Food is just delicious and I had the best vodka - a local brew - which was also just great. Very good service. All around an enjoyable meal. We actually had to order the Spaghetti twice - it was that good! Really enjoyed the evening.

Wonderful in every respect!! Terrific food and wine and a great atmosphere. Feels like a top neighborhood restaurant in Manhattan. Excellent restaurant.
