We sat on Lamar side patio and the traffic noise was terrible. The service was also very poor. Would not recommend that seating area.
Not a good experience! My husband bit into a sushi roll only to find a huge bone in the fish. Terrible service- will not be returning to dine here.
Always a treat! We love Soto!
Awesome food
Unique menu updated daily. Loved it!
The staff was wonderful.
The server was slow and not very attentive
Food took forever. Wine glass portions for tiny for the price. And food portions were small.
The food was amazing as always and our server William was great. The sushi feels so fresh which in my opinion is hard to find in Austin. The tables were quite spread out which made me feel save COVID-wise. Best sushi in Austin <3
We had a reservation for 6:45 and did not get seated until 7:15 because a table was lingering and they would not move them along.
They were very backed up so we were sat 30 mins late but food was great!
I cannot say enough wonderful words about Chef Andy and his team at Soto! We had an amazing Omokase experience for four of us! Along with Chef recommended Sake! Wow! You must go! Hands down ten times ahead of Uchi!!
VALENTINE'S DAY EXPERIENCE -
I have eaten at Soto many times, having lived across the street since they opened. They have consistently provided quality fish, paired with a nice ambiance. Specifically, I have gone to Soto two years in a row for Valentine's day and unfortunately, after this year, I can not recommend Soto anymore.
Omakase was 80% the same year over year and the other pieces seemed to come from their regular Omakase offering. Really disappointed that there hasn't been any improvement / inspiration over the course of two years.
Cuts have gotten much smaller and the quality of cut (not quality of fish) has dropped. This would be understandable if they were busy however, with the storm, we were 2 of 10 customers in the restaurant (staggered arrivals). Course pacing was completely off. For example, the first 2 plates arrived in 2 minutes, the next one arrived 23 minutes later, the next three plates arrived within 10 minutes of each other, and the remainder were all over the board. In comparison to other Omakase in the Austin area, this is a pretty bad.
For the cost of this meal, I would highly recommend going elsewhere. You will have a more exciting menu, a better meal experience, and likely for less than what Soto charges.
Andy is the best!!! The best experience in Austin, by far!!!
I took my mom here for a little mother/son catch-up. We are not foodies but we felt like foodies. Our waitress was Katy and she knew a TON about the offerings and what we might like. We ended up ordering about 7-9 dishes mostly off the happy hour menu (5-6:30) and literally loved all of them. The jalapeño hatchi (or something close to that) was our favorite dish and we weren’t even going to order it until Katy told us to.
We ended up paying about $82 for 2 people and we overate for sure.
The flatware was super classy and sophisticated, I enjoyed the culinary theater as the dishes were presented.
Only downside: the pork ribs. Cooked very tender and very beautiful but it lacked a lot of what the other dishes had in my opinion.
Amazing food! Amazing service!
Great quality of fish and the presentation of each dish was impressive. Great cocktails and sake list. Would highly recommend! We can't wait to go back!
Soto is amazing - we love this place and keep coming back. If you are unsure what to order, you cannot go wrong with the Omakase. Its an amazing selection and the chef changes it up for us every time and we always leave very full its plenty of food.
The service is also top notch and we get recognized every time. Great on all accounts! My only regret will be that this place will get too popular to get in on short notice not long in the future.
Much better experience this time!!
Not COVID safe. Really packed, bar seating did not follow social distancing guidelines. People standing by bar hovering over others table did not follow social distancing guidlines. And even people used the outlet by my table to charge their phone did not follow CDC guidelines. Staff should do something to enforce safe practices. I regretted the experience even though the food was delightful. Would not recommend during pandemic. Server was nice however was seated for the reservation over 30min. Staff was nice enough to comp a round of drinks however a bad impression was already made.
I had such a great experience here. The ambience, the food, the service, was all on point!
All the food came out at the right temperature, everything was beautifully plated, dirty dishes were cleared as soon as they were empty, and tables were spaced far enough apart to where I felt safe.
All the staff were very attentive and sweet. I felt very welcome and would recommend this establishment to everyone!
My boyfriend and I had the most incredible dining experience. Get the truffle risotto — it was to die for! Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive.
Best sushi in Texas. Edomae style!!
This by far the best sushi restaurant in Austin! Move over Uchi! chef Andy is a genius! Go at lunch and have the Omaha’s! He is creative and delightful! Sit at the counter and he will ask you what you like and cater to your tastes! Absolutely wonderful!!!
We sat outside and it was slightly chilly, but they brought an over head heater that made it comfortable. Food was delicious as always and so was the service. My dads usually pretty picky about service and always has some complaint, but he had nothing but praise for the Soto crew!
Also very covid friendly so that’s a plus as well.
Always love it. Best sushi!!!
We had the Omakase and it was amazing!
Everything was really great!!! The waitress was wonderful. She really explained the items that we ordered and when she brought them out she set it our expectations up really high. The food was very tasty and the price was very reasonable! She even brought us some free birthday desserts which were very delicious!! I would definitely go back!
Really outstanding fresh fish straight from Japan. Awesome!
Always amazing!
Soto is my favorite restaurant in Austin. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The service is also fantastic. I would highly recommend!
Certainly my favorite place for sushi in ATX. Incredibly fresh fish and beautiful presentation. Creative craft cocktails. Staff well versed on menu and what is exceptional.
I could not recommend Soto enough. I think this restaurant is pricey, but, for good reason - and prices are extremely reasonable with the quality and portion sizes they give you, considered. PLEASE try their Wagyu hot rock. It is exquisite. Thank you for a wonderful date!
The best sushi I’ve ever had!
Everything was delicious and just amazing. Highlight of my meal was the Hamachi apple. A perfect blend of sweet, tangy, bitter, and richness that lit up my taste buds. Can't wait to go back!
You will not regret this experience. The menu is delicately crafted. The dish parings are unique and exquisite. The service is impeccable. Stop reading. Go. Now.
Our favorite spot - always perfect!! Spectacular food and service!
This place is the best, still my favorite sushi in Austin
Overpriced. Service was good and staff was friendly. But the food is just overpriced for what it was. The sushi rolls were all not very good.
Delicious, fresh, great service! Only complaint is very small pieces.
