These two fruits dominate the palate, along with a honey-almond tang that reminds us of marizpan. 2018 Sparkling Rose ($30): The good times start as soon as you pop the cork. Aromas of blood orange, white peach, and Pink Lady apples. Zesty and creamy on the tongue with flavors of strawberry, watermelon and the citrusy-sour tang of kumquat. The finish is crisp with a trace of Marcona almond. 2018 Sparkling Red ($35): On the nose, Damson plums, boysenberry and cardamon. On your tongue the boysenberry un-furls into ribbons of blackberry and raspberry. The wine is somehow both creamy and zesty. It finishes dry, with orange peel and baking spice. 2015 Cabernet Franc, Stagecoach Vineyard - Atlas Peak

Vineyard: Stagecoach Vineyard. Elevation: 1430. Soils: Hambright Complex. Exposure: Southwest Facing. Clones: 332, 312, Rootstock 110R. Brix at Harvest: 24.2. Harvest Date: 15 Sept. 2015. Fermentation: Native yeast, Open Top SS, 35 Days on Skins, No Amendments. Cooperage: Taransaud, Bossuet. Aging: 21 mas, 50% New Oak. Most times, when you encounter Cabernet Franc, it's blended with Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon. This is not one of those times. Our Cabernet Franc is a purebred and unapologetically so. It all starts with the nose. This wine leaps out of the glass with aromas of dried herbs, jalapenos, peppercorn and graphite. But that's not what you taste. Instead your tongue registers black cherries, plums, dates and cocoa powder. The body is medium to full with luxurious, if dusty, tannins and, as with all Sosie wines, well integrated oak. The wine finishes with anise and dried fruit. For maximum effect, decant two hours before serving. Then stand back

2017 Red Blend, Cavedale Vineyard - Moon Mountain

Blend: 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. Vineyard: Cavedale Vineyard. Elevation: 2,000 Ft. Soils: Volcanic Basalt. Brix at Harvest: 24.0. Harvest Date: 12 Sept. 2017. Fermentation: Native Yeast, 7 Day Cold Soak, 36 Days on Skins, No Amendments. Cooperage: Atelier, Baron, Taransaud. Aging: 21 Mos, 50% New Oak. We've labeled this wine a Red Blend and not a Bordeaux Blend, not as an act of modesty, simply a better description of what's inside. A Bordeaux blend combines two or more of the following: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. This wine checks the first three. Where it departs from Bordeaux is elevation. Moon Mountain, where this wine was grown, sits at 2,000 feet, while Bordeaux rarely exceeds 150. And that makes all the difference. Mountain fruit is intense and structured. The berries are tiny and offer a higher skin-to-pulp ratio. More skin equals more tannins, which is why we aged this wine in bottle for over a year. On the nose: plum, black cherry, black pepper, tobacco. In the mouth: cherry, cranberry and dark chocolate, all firmly knit together with wonderful acidity and a long finish. Tannins are young so decant a full hour ahead and you'll be rewarded

2019 Red Blend (GSM) Rossi Ranch - Sonoma Valley$43.00

Rhône blends are like boy bands, where each member is cast for their specific qualities. Grenache is the cute, approachable one, with generous fruit and refreshing acidity. Syrah is the complicated, brooding type with spice and violets. And Mouvèdre is the wild one, that's rough around the edges yet savory and easy to fall for. Our take on this blend is 51% Grenache, 34% Mouvèdre and 15% Syrah, all from the same certified organic vineyard. However our wine isn't just a blend, it's co-fermented, with all the fruit picked on the same day and the percentages decided then and there. Co-fermenting yields deeper color and brighter flavors and all around better integration. On the nose, aromas of clove and anise. On the tongue, strawberries, plum, black cherry and fig. The wine has a soy sauce type umami with dusty tannins

2017 Pinot Noir - Spring Hill Vineyard, Sonoma Coast

Harvest Date: 13 Sept. 2016. Fermentation: Native Yeast, 20% Whole Cluster, No Amendments. Cooperage: Louis Latour, Cadus. Aging: 20 Mos, 50% New Oak. If Roberts Road is our modern, extracted, fruit-forward pinot, Spring Hill is our old world, more restrained, earth-driven wine. Spring Hill is all about finesse. And finesse is all about delivery. Finesse is when the wine does all the work, as it effortlessly delivers everything it has to offer, in just the right order, with just the right amplitude. So here's what's coming to your nose: black tea, cherry, juniper and hibiscus. And to your mouth: ripe plum and strawberry with equal measures of nutmeg, caraway seed, clove and vanilla. There is more to discern here but rather than try to call out every aroma and flavor let us jump to the conclusion. Spring Hill is a startlingly unique patch of earth. 2017 Syrah, Vivio Vineyard - Bennett Valley

Vineyard: Vivio Vineyard. Elevation: 730 ft. Soils: Sonoma Volcanics. Clones: 470, Aussie & Alban. Brix at Harvest: 25.3. Harvest Date: 6 Oct. 2017. Fermentation: Williams-Selyem. Yeast, Co-Fermented with 95% Syrah, 5% Roussanne, 10% Whole Cluster, 19 Days on Skins, No Amendments. Cooperage: Cadus, Damy, Meyrieux. Aging: 21 Mos, 50% New Oak, 50% Neutral. The emotional component of wine is rarely considered. We like to ask where it's from, how it's farmed, how much it tastes like it's supposed to. None of which addresses how a wine makes us feel. Of all the feelings a wine might unpack – romance, relaxation, conviviality, glamour – the one we most associate with our Syrah is comfort. Its black cherry color sets the stage. Your nose is greeted with ripe, almost jammy, cherry fruit and a whiff of cloves that resolves to cinnamon. Black olives are, at this point, just innuendo but one sip corroborates their presence. Mid-palate are currants and plums, a balance of fruit and spice in splendid tension. As the wine warms there are traces of bacon and rosemary and yes, a feeling of comfort too great for words. Drink now or hold until 2030 and be a hero

2019 White Blend, Rossi Ranch - Sonoma Valley$35.00

Rhône-style White Blends are produced all over the world with varying degrees of authenticity and success. Here at Sosie, our prerogative is to model what's done in France. Thus our white blend is a mix of Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Marsanne. Each plays a complimentary role. When first opened, the wine offers aromas of honeydew melon, Granny Smith apples and lemon curd. As it warms, you'll discern quince and perhaps tamarind. Here's where things get interesting. Take every-thing you just smelled and add orange peel, lemon pith, pear and tarragon. There are literally waves of flavors, each one commingling in a different and satisfying way. Having said all that, the wine isn't at all ostentatious. Everything is held in check thanks to the briny acidity of the Grenache Blanc. This is the genius of a true Rhone blend, where all the components are so impeccably interwoven that no one stands out

2017 Roussanne, Vivio Vineyard - Bennett Valley

92 Points - Wine Spectator. Vineyard: Vivio Vineyard. Elevation: 730 ft. Soils: Sonoma Volcanics. Clones: 468, Rootstock 420A. Brix at Harvest: 23.0. Harvest Date: 7 Oct. 2017. Fermentation: Native Yeast, 100% Ml, 24 Hours on Skins, Stainless Steel Fermented, Small Acid Amendment. Cooperage: Baron, Atelier. Aging: 15 mos, 20% New Oak. Followed by 5 Months in Stainless Steel. If it's true that adversity forges character, then this wine has it in spades. The fruit came off the vines Friday morning, two days before the start of the Tubbs/Nunns Canyon fires that ravaged Sonoma County. We were able to foot-press it, as always, but the fires restricted our access to the winery so the wine fermented in tank instead of in barrels. For 2017, this wine shows a much deeper color and a more honeyed nose than in past years. Aromas of ripe apricot and orange blossom are accented by chamomile. Ripe apricot continues on the palate, followed by tart lemon and orange peel. The finish is slightly nutty (macadamia?) with an even slighter note of bergamot. Richly-flavored and medium-bodied, this is an intense wine. It's as close to the Rhone-style as we've come with this grape

2016 Roussanne, Vivio Vineyard - Bennett Valley

90 Points - Wine Enthusiast. vineyard: Vivio Vineyard. Elevation: 73081. Soils: Sonoma Volcanica. Exposure: East Facing. Clones: 168, Rootstock 120A. Brix at Harvest: 22. Harvest Date: 6 Oct. 2016. Fermentation: Native Yeast, Barrel Fermented, 100% Malolactie Fermentation, No Amendments. Cooperage: Baron, Atelier. Aging: 19 Mar, 22% New Oak. If we can be said to have an M.O. it's "less is more." Less hang-time, less manipulation, less oak. Nine times out of ten, that has served us. Our 2016 Roussanne turns all that on its head. Here, more is more. Much more. Compared to our 2015, this wine spent a month longer on the vines, had more time on the skins, and seven months longer in barrel. And despite having the same Brix (potential alcohol) as last year, it gained weight in the cellar. Together these changes resulted in a wine with deeper color, a broader palette of flavors and textures, and greater length on the finish. The nose offers Meyer lemon, nectarine and apricot – things you expect – along with some you don't: cashews, chamomile and sage. The mouth follows the nose. The texture starts tart, like a pink grapefruit, then swells to become succulent and luscious. This wine has schooled us. It will thrill you

Roasted Squab, Osso Buco, Steak au Poivre, Wild Boar Ragout. Tasting notes often name-check these sorts of dishes when making pairing suggestions. But honestly, how often does anyone really eat that stuff? Not very. Wouldn't it be great to find a wine you can drink with . anything? A wine like our Sparkling Red, which has the magical ability to pair with everything from pizza to pasta, chili to cheeseburgers, BBQ to BLT. 2018 Sparkling White

First Things First. First things first: just what exactly is this sparkling white wine made from? Glad you asked. It's made from Roussanne and it's made much like our still Roussanne - barrel fermented with native yeast and full malolactic fermentation, then aged in neutral oak for 6 months before its second in-bottle fermentation. The malolactic fermentation is key because that's where the wine gets its creaminess. On the nose there are aromas of apricot and orange wrapped in an inviting brioche bouquet. These two fruits dominate the palate, along with a honey-almond tang that reminds us of marizpan. There is a fullness to the wine that you wouldn't expect from a low-dosage sparkler. It's rich and creamy, with a beam of ripe fruit shining through. Keep the bottle well chilled once open and it will hit all of those notes until the music stops
