Sorrento's Italian Bistro and Chef's Table
Always exceptional!! We go twice a year as we do not live local
Great food. We had the broccoli and cavatelli along with eggplant parm. Wonderful butter rolls served to all upon seating. Loud, close tables to each other so could be a challenge for low talkers. Well worth a visit.
We were expecting much more from the food. It was just acceptable. We really hope they are just in an off season slump and will turn it around. Our wait person was unenthusiastic and i would not want her again but several of the other staff were uncommonly friendly and welcoming. So all in all, just a so so experience.
The food and service were amazing. Enjoyed every detail and would recommend for anyone in the area as the best we have had to date. Priced well and wines were exceptional value
Amazing food and amazing restaurant. The vodka pasta is so good and my boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed the pizza with pepperoni (and he is very picky). We are from out of town but otherwise would make this a regular spot!
Our meal was truly delicious and enjoyable. Garlic rolls were awesome. We love this place.
We had heard good things from several people about Sorrento’s, however we had a terrible experience. We made a reservation for a early dinner at 4:00, arrived at 3:50, the waitress gave us the lunch menu, but didn’t tell us the dinner menu started in 5 minutes, so we ordered a few things we didn’t really want. The chicken tasted like rubber and the sausage, onions and pepper were about the size of half a palm. Even though we made reservations, and the restaurant was half-full, they seated us next to the restrooms
I won’t go into details on the waitress, but she was just horrible.
Just an awful experience.
Amazing! We had the special rib eye steak with the best mashed potatoes ever! The steak melted in your mouth and was very generous. We also had the special rigatoni bolognese and a ceasar salad to start! The dressing was home made and the garlic rolls delicious. Always perfect meal!
I love Italian food!! Every time we come to Banner Elk ... We always come for dinner!!
We had high hopes going in but the food was beyond poor. Such a shame as this restaurant has such great referrals from people in the area. Big disappointment.
Great ambiance. Excellent service. I had trout. Date had shrimp scampi. Food excellent; generous servings.
Pleasantly surprised that a jazz combo was playing making the the room feel very clubby. It was a little noisy but worth it!
The food and service were good, but the selection could have been better.
The hostess made us feel welcome
Things started out badly. We sat down and after ten minutes no one had come to greet us, take drink our order etc. I complained to the host, who said they would send someone. It took another few minutes but a waitress showed up and said she had no idea we were waiting, so if I hadn’t complained who knows how long we would have continued to wait. Instead of working to make the meal great after this, it just got worse. The waitress brought bread but no bread plates or silverware or napkins (we literally had to get up and find them ourselves). Later, she brought my husband’s and my entrees but said our daughters would still be a while! What on earth? Who brings the adults food out and expects a toddler just to sit and wait? When the pizza finally did come, it wasn’t even right. We also had to repeatedly ask for drinks and drink refills. At no time did a manager come by to apologize or try to make things right. We have eaten here before and enjoyed it but after all this I’m not sure we will be back.
A friend had recommended Sorrentos and we were not disappointed. I am Italian and the chicken Parmesan was delicious with a light red sauce just like you find in Italy! My husband had a sausage dish with wine and pasta and declared is the best ever!
My husband, son & I went 8/20 to celebrate my birthday. “Korey” took great care of us all evening. We ordered fried calamari for an appetizer, which is served with marinara sauce. We prefer tartar sauce or an aioli with it. They didn’t have tartar sauce, but made a delicious aioli for us! For our meals, my son had the eggplant parmigiana, my husband ordered the pink vodka sauce pasta & I requested the veal Francese - we all loved our choices and shared bites around the table! For dessert, we selected the carrot cake, Reese’s peanut butter pie and cheesecake with raspberry sauce - mouth-watering!!! I have nothing negative to say about our dinner - we had a great time and very much liked our server Korey, she was great!!! GO!!!
Got seated right away. However, It took more than 10 min for our waitress to come greet us. At this point we were ready to order drinks and meals. Food was blah. Not sure if the marinara sauce was just tomatoes out of a can. No spice or seasoning. The ice tea tasted watered down. The wait staff didn’t seem very friendly and outgoing.
Will not return.
Wait staff very friendly and helpful. My son was on walker after an accident and they were very helpful and accommodating with him. Great food, great atmosphere.
Eat here!!! You will love it. The food is fit for foodies. The service is great. Idk how this is not number one for trout and/or restaurants on tripadvisor for this area. The trout was the special with lemon sauce and capers, excellent. Ate every bite. Had coffee and cannoli for dessert awesome finish!
Dining with guests. Never disappointed!
This is our favorite Italian restaurant in this area. We don’t go often as it is a 40 minute drive to get there. I love their linguine and white clams and the garlic rolls are wonderful. This time we shared lasagna and a small pizza and still had some to bring home. DELICIOUS 🍕
Great service and awesome food
Been going here for many years. Best meal ever. Food and service well above usual.
Very good service, dinner late Sunday night on Father's Day. Food was great, a lot of options. I would go back.
Excellent authentic Italian dishes and outstanding service. We were very pleased with the entire experience.
Reserved a table for two for a birthday.
Pasta was very mediocre, chewy, with other types of pasta accidentally mixed in.
Had not seen waitress in a while and she claimed "She forgot about us"
She boxed our dishes at the table and spilled some of them on the ground.
Construction workers constantly in and out of the building by our table, some with their stomachs hanging out.
Every table around us was offered bread and we were not.
Veal Marsala was decent.
Out of things to make specialty drinks on a Saturday night...
Slightly annoyed for such a pricey place.
What a wonderful find! I was recommended this place by a friend and we were very happy with the choice! We were celebrating my daughter’s graduation from App State and didn’t want to be rushed out by a place in Boone. The setting was so peaceful, the service awesome, the food delicious!! We sat outside, so peaceful!! Thank you Sorento’s for making a special occasion memorable!!
Always a special occasion: to be at Sorrento’s. The brand is complete: with the creation of the new Chef’s Table and Julie’s managing the restaurants Angelo has succeeded in completing a whole quality block of upscale food @ beverage.
Had not been there in awhile and decided to try again. Appetizer (artichoke hearts) and rolls were excellent, but pasta meal rather tasteless and meatballs not very good. Also server never mentioned nightly specials which we later overheard at other tables which might have changed our selections. Wish we had just had rolls and appetizers.
The food and service were good, but we had to wait over an hour for our lunch. We were one of only 3 tables dining at the time.
While it is a nice restaurant, something seemed missing. We were super rushed and barely sat down and were asked for our order. We were only there for 35 minutes for appetizers and meal. The eggplant Sorrento seemed a little undercooked and did not have any prosciutto even though it is in the description. However, the marinara was very good. My husband’s veal and mashed potatoes were very under seasoned and seemed bland. It wasn’t a bad meal but for the price, could be stepped up a notch. We will come back and give it another go in the summer.
We had a great experience start to finish. A good bottle of wine, reasonably priced. We all enjoyed our salads and entrées. My shrimp Francese was especially wonderful! Service was prompt and attentive.
We love this place and always make a reservation, especially in the summer. We have had to wait several times though despite our reservations (and once for over an hour) but that is our only complaint. They outdoor seating in the front and in the back is really nice. We really enjoy this place and eat there every time we are in town. The food is really good!
This was our third trip back to Sorrento's and it did not disappoint! The food is consistently good, as is the service! Jennifer, the manager, always checks on us and makes sure that we are happy with the food and service. We have now spent Thanksgiving, Christmas and my husband's birthday at Sorrento's and we will definitely be back each and every time we visit Banner Elk! As an aside, we are from South Florida and wish we had an Italian restaurant with food and service as incredible as Sorrento's! Can't wait to go back!
Oh.my.word. Best Italian food ever. Loved everything from start to finish, from the atmosphere to the waiter to the food. Can’t wait to go back!
Good food selection
Amazing dessert choices
Carrot cake was fabulous
Happy to find this gem of a restaurant in a small town. Delicious meals.
Wonderful meal for my 66th birthday! My salad, lasagna, rolls, wine, dessert and coffee were delicious!! Husband had gumbo and the special that consisted of trout. He commented that it was some of the best trout and gumbo that he had ever had! Thank you for wonderful service also.
Fabulous, hidden gem!! We have been to Banner Elk for years & never knew Sorrentovs existed. It is now our favorite! Seafood was so fresh! Pizza was great!!
We came here with our family (our children are adults) for a special dinner following a day of skiing. We were very late for our reservation, but we were greeted warmly nevertheless and treated to a wonderful meal. The food was delicious, from the sea bass to the tortellini, and we highly recommend this great restaurant.
I come here at least once a month if for no other reason than to get the veal piccata! Great fresh salads too. Great cheesecake too!
