Great food served professionally! Carlos R provided terrific service, giving excellent recommendations and followup. Veal piccata was perfection. Highly recommend the experience and we will be back for sure!
Mediocre food and high prices. The outdoor seating was nice though.
Only negative was that my credit card was hacked 20 minutes after processing at the restaurant. Don’t know if there was a connection, but timing was suspect.
Had the trout with a caper and wine sauce. Very good.
Due to Covid the lunch menu is really watered down. Pre Covid the dinner menu was available at lunch. Staff very nice. Diet coke was outstanding. Maybe dinner?
Ashley was one of the best waitresses I’ve had in quite a while!
Matthew was a wonderful server! Very helpful and represents the restaurant very well!
Decent Italian restaurant in the heart of downtown Banner elk. Our service was great tonight, food was good we all liked our meals. One person had pizza and they go a bit overboard with the cheese.
Took forever to have someone come to our table. No Pinot Grigio available by the glass. Waiter was overworked and had little to offer us in terms of wine selection. Dinner specials were given to us after a long wait to have our order taken and when we thought we were ready to order. An elderly man sitting at the table behind us kept interrupting us and needed all of us to give him attention (seemed to be a regular patron) which was quite distracting. Outdoor area and music was nice however a lady came by asking for tips for the musicians not long after we were seated and when we said no for the moment she had an attitude before moving on. Our food was good but the overall experience left much to be desired. We will try other dining options before coming back here again.
Delicious dinner before theatre. Timely with getting our food to us so we didn't have to rush.
Food was excellent as always and service was great!
Very noisy. Poor service and average food
Went for lunch. 3 completely different dishes and none were good. Have been before for dinner and had a good experience.
Always great food & pizza❤️
Initially some Seating issues which took nearly 20minutes to resolve. After that, everything was excellent: food, service, entertainment. Will certainly be back.
I had dinner at the Chef’s table, because I read a review saying it was in the top 100 new restaurants when it opened a few years ago. The menu has lots of excellent options - beef carpaccio as well as beet carpaccio and salmon carpaccio, tuna tartare, and 3 well thought out salads. A large sushi section was offered, and i tried the Yum Yum, a panko crusted tuna/avocado/cream cheese/crab roll. It was really good.
My friend had the tuna pizza ( sushi ) and the sashimi rice bowl. I liked the tuna pizza the best. It was so good I went back the next night and ordered the rainbow trout, a local speciality. The entrees are locally sourced, lots of options.
The extensive wine list is very reasonably priced, I had Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay for $60. I’ve seen that wine as high as $90 in multiple restaurants. The interior is beautiful, and they’ve got a Frank Sinatra singer on weekends. He was pretty good also. My 02, it’s the best Banner Elk has to offer.
Great food and service. The artichoke spinach dip was the best we’ve had and the eggplant Parmesan was also delicious!
Good as usual, though veal was a little overdone, it was still pretty good. Love the wine, lemon butter sauce...makes it so tasty.
High season and it was packed. But food came out fast and was piping hot and delish. Salmon and trout were both really good. Scott our server was also good.
On vacation. Great choice! Enjoyed!
very good, but not spectacular, Italian fare in a very quaint and charming atmosphere.
Two of us dined on the patio on the 4th of July. We were initially a little put off that the hostess handed us menus and pointed to a table on the deck for us to seat ourselves, but a server quickly came to take our beverage order and tell us about the specials. She returned with our drinks quickly and we each ordered the herb-encrusted halibut (one of the daily specials). Our meal was very good; the fish was perfectly cooked, nicely seasoned, and served over mashed potatoes with seasonal vegetables. The bread was too garlicky for our taste, but others would like it. The patio was nice, and there were beautiful flowers in pots and beds all around, along with a gas fire pit.
Great atmosphere and food! Traditional Italian. Great steak. I could eat a million of the rolls. We will be back
Food quality and presentation was excellent, as always. The restaurant was very crowded and understaffed. Took an hour to receive food. Server was new and incompetent. It’s hard to staff during this time.
Spinach and artichoke dip was delicious, but the toast was very chewy. Had to tear the bread with my teeth. Simple chips would be preferable. Chicken Marsala could have used more marsala sauce. Flavor was good. Service was very good, but it took about 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. Atmosphere was noisy and more of a fancy pizza place than fine Italian dining.
Was seated outside at our reservation time. Sat for 20 minutes without a single person acknowledging our presence. No water, no “ I will be with you in a minute”. Nothing. Got up and left! Will never return.
Went across the street… Louisiana Purchase, I think. Was seated immediately and had an amazing dinning experience. Food and Service were exceptional! Apparently, things happen for a reason. Do yourself a favor and try this place.
Our dining experience was excellent this week at Sorrentos. The food was great and our server, Cornbread was a treat to talk with and his service was excellent.
The noise level was a little high, but that would be expected since people are finally able to get out.
My wife and I will definitely dine at Sorrentos again.
The service was exceptional. The manicotti was not that great. The pasta was way over cooked. I was also not crazy about the part on your menu where you ask your patrons to be patient for good food, not split checks and then you pass the service fee on for credit cards. That’s just part of doing business. Personally I would not recommend.
Service was very slow. They seemed overwhelmed.
Impossibly noisy AND bad live music.
Great atmosphere & pasta! Nice patio seating & bar area, noise level a little too high for my liking. Great service !
Waited one hour for food. Waitress great.. But wait time for food was very slow.
Great place to eat in Banner Elk. Never a disappointment!
We have been to Sorrento's Bistro for many years and knew what to expect. We've always thought it was loud inside so we specifically asked, through Open Table, for an outdoor table for 4. When we arrived the hostess told us that request was not mentioned on our reservation and there were no outdoor table available. This was despite the fact that the reservation confirmation email we received from Open Table listed the outdoor seating. We were seated inside near the bar and things were OK (the restaurant wasn't that full) except when the telephone would ring and the bar. The ring was ear splitting. I'm sure if the restaurant is at full capacity, no one could hear a phone ring but how about a light on something? Anyway, the full was good as always, but conversation with old friends was a little strained.
Food was outstanding and our server was attentive.
May have been an off night, but server was distracted - forgot drinks, never mentioned specials, or checked on us after food was delivered for fresh parmesan, ground pepper, etc. Food was ok, huge portions; although it felt like an overpriced Olive Garden. Probably won't be back.
Wonderful experience as always! Impeccable and extremely pleasant staff and delicious food! One of our favorite local restaurants!
Food and service were great!! Nice that they have a variety of specials and not just standard Italian fare.
Quite pricey for Italian that wasn't particularly creative or interesting food. Service was good. Good fresh baked bread but would be better served with olive oil.
Phenomenal as usual.
