Great meal. Not a bad dish. Attentive staff.
We have ventured to Sorghum & Salt numerous times and have always had a great experience. The menu is constantly changing and so unique that it is always a different but delicious experience. If you are a foodie and like to try new and interesting dishes, we definitely recommend.
The restaurant is cute. The service was very good. The food was ok, needed some more flavors. The carrots came highly recommended and they were a little chewy. The ricotta was one of the best things on the menu. I would say that it is best for vegans.
I did crave some good bread with my meal but they don't serve any. Other than that it was excellent, from the vegetarian pasta to the pork dish and the shrimp dish.
The whole place had a really neat environment, but the food was what really stood out. Everything we tried tasted so amazing! Since one of us is vegan, we were very pleased, too, with the extensive and delicious vegan menu.
Fabulous and unusual. Love the food and the vibe of the place.
The food was incredible. We sat at the bar and got to watch the chefs cook. The food was all local and all of the servers were very knowledgeable about the food and wine choices.
By far the best meal we had in Charleston. The tasting menu was amazing!
The vibe, the owner, the food, the execution, the timing, the complexities of flavor, the balance and synergy - all perfectly orchestrated to what I feel was one of the best dining experiences - period.
We had a wonderful experience at sorghum and salt. We loved the vibes of this more intimate restaurant. Our waiter was fabulous and the food was was outstanding.
All the food was fresh and delicious!
Perfect night from the time we walked in the door until they dragged us out. Food and service was outstanding.
Creative dishes that were all delicious with a cozy atmosphere.
Very good food and service. Would recommend but people should know it is not full bar. Beer and wine only
Visiting Charleston and looking for a local, creative food experience. This was everything we were looking for. We had the tasting menu and the server Trevor was outstanding on knowledge of the food and friendly service. Food was unique and delicious. Good wine pairings too.
Food and service both great. Chef’s tasting menu was varied and excellent. Highly recommended.
Parking was a bit hard but doable, the portions where a great size. We did the four course option and enjoyed most of the dishes. They are very unique items which appeal to some people and not to others. I enjoyed the food, but if I visited again I would try another place (since there are so many I want to try). Our server was amazing and very intune to what we needed and when.
One of my favorite dinners in Charleston so far. The food was fresh and creative but delicious.
Even though we were unfamiliar with some of the ingredients, our party felt both curious and adventurous to try a variety of dishes on the menu and we’re pleasantly surprised at the outcome. Everything about each dish was pure enjoyment from the presentation to the taste. Just happened upon this restaurant while visiting earlier in the week with another group that also thoroughly enjoyed it. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place to anyone visiting Charleston!
The food at Sorghum and Salt is excellent!!!!
My favorite restaurant experience of my life so far. Simply put this was amazing. The ambiance was so fun. The food was wonderful. Honestly not a single boring thing on the menu. Everything is locally sourced and made fresh and when ordered. Each bite was the perfect amount of flavors. The service was friendly and quick and like a machine it was so efficient. Whoever trained and runs the staff know what they are doing for sure. Loved it. If you are a boring eater who only likes things plain and bland with no flavor then skip. Otherwise give it a try.
Very creative food. Always excellent. My only concern was how packed the place was and no one wearing masks
LOVED it. We were sat at the bar and were able to experience the chef's tasting menu. Definitely ask for recs on wine pairing, everything was so great. Heirloom tomato was especially memorable.
Off the beaten track but a nice intimate dining experience. Our waiter was friendly helpful and our food came out at a nice pace.
Overall it was a great experience and stretched the palette of a few in our party. We loved the peach dish and the chef in our group named the rainbow carrot dish as his favorite. The shrimp dish had an interesting flavor profile that got mixed reviews. The gnocchi, short rib and ricotta dishes were as good as advertised.
The beer and wine selection was a little limited. Our guys were beer drinkers and didn’t love the options or their selections. Might be nice to throw a Bud or fat tire or the like in as a choice.
The only negative for me at the end of the experience was the cost. Everything had a $13-18 price, which felt ok for the small plates (though $13 is a but steep for 4 triangular slices of focaccia bread regardless of what it served with). The short rib “large plate” was $31. That included four 1/4 inch thick slices of short rib, 10-12 small pieces of potato and a delicious sauce. In no way did this justify the description of “large” or a $31 price tag. At the end of the day, we had ordered 8 small or shared plates and 2 large plates, spent $200 on food and no-one in our party of 5 felt like they’d had a full meal. Just making the short rib a truly” large plate” would have gone a long way.
I would recommend the restaurant enthusiastically but would caution people not to go in too hungry. I think I’ll go back, but will have more realistic expectations for what we’ll get- a really interesting and delicious dining experience
None of the food is what we expected but it was all delicious. The bread service came in a delicious buttermilk bath… the short rib had an awesome black garlic sauce and corn purée… I could go on but the flavors blended perfectly.
Oh, the white chocolate mouse… that is amazing. Nothing we ever expected. Not too sweet, but such a unique flavor that we cannot quite describe. Just try it. You’re welcome.
Very vegetable heavy and clean eating. We loved it!
The food was delicious and healthy, and that is a great combo that is bearded than you think . We will be back
Wonderful dining experience. Food choices were unique and delicious. Our server provided us with great guidance as to things we might enjoy. Would highly recommend for diners that are willing to be adventurous!
I really do enjoy Sorghum & Salt and keep coming back for the creative and tasty dishes. The service is always superb. I do wish the outside seating area which is very unkempt and uninviting matched the fine dining yet eclectic vibe inside. We have had the vegan tasting menu twice. It is excellent, except for the pasta dish served as the second to last course. I will put it bluntly that it cheapens the entire experience. I would really like to see a mushroom or other vegan protein course added the menu instead.
Outstanding in all respects. Service and food were exceptional.
Amazing Vegan menu. Love the dairy free options. Chef was so dope!
Again and again, this place doesn’t disappoint. The foooooddddd! The service! The experience!! Best restaurant in our world right now!!
This place was beyond anything I could’ve imagined. Farm to table, amazing ingredients, inventive menu, just spectacular. Every. Single. Bite.
This was excellent! Everything we ordered was tasty, creative and well presented. We ordered 7 dishes for 4 people and a second serving of the grilled shrimp as that one was particularly great, which was a perfect amount of food and very reasonably priced for what you get. The menu is certainly geared for vegetarians/pescatarians, but they had a handful of pork and beef dishes as well that we didn’t try, although based on what we did order I’m sure they were excellent. We were there for a dinner for 4 but this seems like a great date spot as well.
Would highly recommend and would certainly return next time we’re in Charleston.
Wonderful food. Great staff. Best dinner of our trip.
Awesome meal. Awesome staff. Awesome ingredients. You can taste the passion that goes into each bite. Highly recommend the tasting menu. Thanks Chef Tres!
Amazing experience. Service great, food amazing, the vibe solid. When I am back in Charleston will be there again.
Love this restaurant! Our favorite in Charleston.
This was the best dinner I have ever had in my life. The food was absolutely delicious. The service was amazing. The menu offered dishes I have never tasted before which was a treat on vacation in Charleston. The staff was beyond friendly and accommodating. The mix of people dining was so diverse it showed that this experience is for EVERYONE. I will definitely go back!
Great food! I am plant based and my wife eats whatever… both of us left very happy.
