Sorellina Ratings and Reviews
My son and I took my wife/his mother to Sorellina for her birthday. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and have no complaints as to food, service or any other dimension. However, this is a very sophisticated restaurant and menu, not a traditional Italian restaurant of the type to be found, say, in Boston's North End. If you are looking for more familiar Italian fare, Sorellina is probably not the ideal choice.
The food and service are truly exceptional. The dining room is done principally in white, and it presents a modern, tailored, formal but not stuffy appearance. While there is a high ceiling, a large number of baffles have been installed, so conversation is easy. The food is simply delicious - very creative and attractively presented. While there is an Italian tilt to the menu, Sorellina is far from your typical Italian restaurant. Our meals were wonderful - but the salmon and homemade gelato were both outstanding. Service flows like a well-oiled machine. Sorellina is not inexpensive, but it is worth every penny.
The four of us met for our 3- month get to-gether dinner. We went to Sorellina again. As usual we started with cocktails, cocktails, and then the Waiter took our order for Food and Wine. Before the white wine arrived, the appertizers were delivered. The Octopus, gnocchi and Tuna were all good but it came out before the cocktails were finished and the wine received.
Second course, again, came out less than 5 minutes after first course was taken away and the red wine was even delivered. Main courses of Veal, Fish and Pasta were all great as usual.
Why is Sorellina in such a rush to get us out of there. We had planned to be there for a while, as we usually do for our get-to-gethers, But Sorellina had other ideas. And, the restaurant was not that crowded, they did not really need our table. So, after dinner and coffee, we Left!
Will we be back for future get-togethers, I doubt it! There are too many other Boston restaurants that will not RUSH us out!
The service was not up to par - inconsistent , a bit too impersonal- took too long to order - had to request wine refills. One of two main courses was a bit overcooked, dried out. They did not do birthday dessert which was requested in reservation. Overall not as good as the last time we ate there.
This was the best meal I have had in some time. The service was impeccable and every item of food was spot on. The wine list is expensive but extremely wide and deep. My wife had the pear salad which was simple but perfectly executed and the veal saltambuco which was fabulous. I had the lobster gnocchi- simple and elegant and the halibut which was perfectly done. We shared the bombollini for desert- also excellent. We will definitely come back when back in Boston
Fantastic! The lobster gnocchi was out of this world. Must try. Downside is the tables are very close to one another so we heard people complaining about their table that were seated next to us.... The lobster gnocchi is worth the close quarters!!! Must try.
My colleague and I had a wonderful dinner at Sorellina while in Boston for a conference. The mixed drink, beer, and wine options were great; the portions were good-sized; the food selection, presentation, and taste were all excellent; and our waiter was truly fantastic...and all in a nice environment. Well worth it.
We had a wonderful evening, the wait staff was superb. Menu was on the small side but quality was key here. We had the eggplant rolatini on the side dish menu as an appetizer. Wonderful. The ricotta was silky. Eggplant not watery but firm. The sauce excellent. The bread was to die for. Crusty with dense but not heavy interior. A lovely ciabatta loaf. The accompaniment was fabulous..fine olive oil, a small scoop of quality butter topped with a touch a sea salt. Amazing!
For main course we had had 2 dishes... pasta with exotic mushrooms and truffles. Devine. They make all pasta in house. The other dish was the signature dish..Maccheroncelli. Wagu beef meatballs. Montepluciano sauce and long tubular pasta w/Parmesan. The best. The sauce was complex. Wine, veal reduction. Perfect. The wine list was vast but the price point was a bit on the high side. There should be a few bottles at a lower price point.
Great ambiance. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding; pleasant, knowledgeable and unobtrusive. We have been to Sorellina numerous times and it is consistently a great experience. Never had a negative experience. Definitely worth the visit.
Went here for date night, we had the grilled octopus appetizer which was great. I liked the skid ink couscous, salmon appetizer was okay. We split the lobster gnocchi and the meatball pasta, all very good, fresh pasta was delicious. I thought things were a bit on the salty side, but that might just be my palate. The service was outstanding, they were open to splitting dishes, gave us space, recommendations, just spot on service. Great cocktails and wine too.
